  1. Don't see where Steve had a good night offensively. I think he was better on the defensive side. He was 2-7 from the field and 1-2 from the line. If Brett McKnight didn't step up and have a big game, the Zips would have been toast. The starters other than Zeke were a combined 8-30 from the field, a sizzling 25%. Good that the team could overcome that and if the other starters can step their game up just a little, the Zips will be very formidable.
  2. It was blacked out on Dish here in Maryland as well. I have no idea why but its far from the first time that's happened. Ended up watching it on channelsurfing. Will be dumping my sports package since that was primarily the reason I picked it up.
  3. If you didn't know there is a site filter that will not allow you to type f.l.a.s.h or K.e.n.t. unless you do something like put periods in between like I did. Most of the time it's amusing, occasionally it gets in the way.
  4. And a crowd in excess of 5000 even with the students out.
  5. One of his best games ever. A nice double-double with 20 points and made 4-6 free throws. Team leader in points, steals, blocks and rebounds and one off the assist lead. I'd say great game by the big guy. I was really worried when the Zips scored only 8 points in the first ten minutes of the second half but a lot of credit to the Zips for coming back. Nice start to the MAC season!
  6. Its probably fine in Ohio, its us out of staters that sometimes get screwed over by this stuff.
  7. STO is in Channel 431 on Dish Network, however, as I check it today, it indicates that the game is blacked out. Guess it will be channelsurfing.net for me. Arrrggghh, think I'll be dropping the extra sports package soon.
  8. Really should be three straight, always felt Zakuani lost out because Akron wasn't a big enough soccer "name" at the time. Ironically, that may now be completely flipped and helped Nagbe.
  9. From the BigSoccer board discussing the top coaches in the country, an OSU fan decided to vent on his coach. This is my first post on here but I have been a long time viewer and finally decided to get an account. I must say your list is pretty accurate, however I have a hard time believing that John Bluem is a top 20 coach in NCAA soccer. Sure he made the championship one year which is a great feat, don't get me wrong, but what else has he done to warrant this rating when he has arguably the best athletic department and facilities in the country backing him? He is a poor recruiter if you ask me. And on that national runner-up team, Eric Brunner transferred back home after starting at Maryland as a freshman, and Roger Espinoza was picked up from a JUCO. If you look at Akron's roster this year that won the national championship and compare it with Ohio State, it's 9 native of Ohio on OSU's roster and 11 Ohio natives on Akron's roster which is close, so I am not calling the overall number into question. I am however calling into question the quality of the natives. Excluding goalkeeper Matt Lampson and Konrad Warzycha, most the other Ohio natives from OSU wouldn't see the field at Akron. It's just frustrating to see all these national team players of Ohio pass on Ohio State for Akron. Big Ten vs. MAC. Columbus vs. Akron. The Academics of OSU vs. Academics of Akron. (Prior to the renovation of Lee Jackson Field) Akron's soccer facility vs. Jesse Owens Stadium. And I know in at least two recruits in this senior class the trend will continue with one of them being national team player Will Trapp. I don't really appreciate all of the slams in the last paragraph (more elitist attitude) but he has a point in that what Caleb has done is even more amazing.
  10. If you did, you should stand up and claim it proudly. That was pretty clever - having nothing to do with the football team - but everything to do with stopping idiotic comments like that in the future. Don't know how much it cost, but I'd like to contribute to whomever paid for it.
  11. M.A.C. Hermann Trophy We really ought to win it every year, it's been proven to be very difficult for anyone else win any award in soccer with the acronym M.A.C. on it.
  12. This may be because the team needs to get to Baltimore for the MLS Superdraft (which I got word that Porter and many of the team members will be there). Would seem another night would have been better but you wouldn't want to wait too long for it.
  13. The SuperDraft is on the 13th. Not sure if it is like the NFL draft where the players actually attend. I think I'll check on that ...
  14. Glad to see Steve getting a lot of playing time and doing well with it.
  15. Of course on the Internet, nothing ever really goes away, does it?
  16. Which record are you talking about? Zeke already is tied for the most blocks in a game (6), set the freshman record for most blocks (59) which is also second all-time to Romeo's Travis's record of 65. He has 37 halfway through his sophomore year so for his career he has 96 which is fourth all time. Second place is 109 so he will certainly move into 2nd place this year but he still has a way to go to pass Romeo's 165 career blocks.
  17. We'll fall to second place once the Auburn-Oregon game is completed. I read up how the Capital One Standings are conducted. All sports are not equal. There are three tiers with football, basketball and baseball on the top tier (for the men's side) and soccer with other sports on the second tier and sports like cross country and indoor track on tier 3. You get 20 points for winning a National Championship, 12 for second and so on, but you also get a multiplier, 2 times for tier 2 and 3 times for tier 1. That's how we got 40. That also means that the winner of Auburn-Oregon will get 60 points (but the loser will still be behind us with 36).
  18. True, and they also spelled Akron as Arkon at the beginning of that sentence. Think I may know why you missed that one though. Dyslexia is a difficult disease.
  19. I, for one, am very happy Brett has returned. He is having another good night. Am concerned about the Zips defense though, where did it go? ORU shooting over 70%. Good thing the Zips are too. Funniest comment by Joe Dunn after ORU tossed up a prayer and made it - "Those are the kinds of things that are usually answered at Oral Roberts".
  20. Interesting that this news is let just as the MAC is considering expansion. GP1 will be happy. Dollar General expanding - to annouce 6,000 jobs. Of course that also reminds me of this. By the way, Temple was supposed to announce their intentions of continuing with the MAC by January 1st. Anyone hear anything? Nothing on the MAC web site.
  21. It will be with a new coach. Mangini is gone.
  22. I would like to reserve the moniker "GP2". I don't want my pseudo changed, I just want to hold onto it for potential future monetary reasons.
  23. So is this something you wrote then (seeing as how the name of the author is a Chris Coon and your psuedo is ccoon44)?
  24. Abreu looking good early. Two threes, a steal, an assist and good defense causing a turnover. Zips up 13-6. Zeke also with a nice dunk off a good feed.
  25. Short article on the MLS website with a projection for next years championship contenders. Zips are listed but they caveat it with the expected "depends on who leaves". Interesting thing is that they don't mention a single ACC school.
