Really sloppy start but fortunately by both teams so the Zips are still way in it. I do really like seeing the student section on TV. Don't know whose decision that was to move them, but it was a good one. I'm going to credit it to Charles Guthrie until I hear otherwise. 😜

Washington State and Central Michigan were both in Arizona to play in separate bowl games. Both their opponents canceled out because of covid so they just decided to play each other. :-)

Their web site also has a piece about why it was a mistake to fire him at MSU. They rightly point out that he had done pretty well at a historically tough place to win and there was no guarantee that whoever replaced him would do better. Joe went 14-12 in his two years there. The following two years? They went 11-12. Thank you MSU :-)

That was actually my point, a once in a lifetime opportunity to promote Zips football went for naught. Oh well, its the past looks like better days should be ahead.

No real surprise since the University almost acts like the didn't attend. They did nothing for him during his Hall of Fame induction ceremony. I bought a table and a few die hard Zips fans went with me. I even offered to make the official Akron table and got no response from the University. No wonder he doesn't feel too embraced.

And just as a reminder that it is possible to schedule a reasonable set of OOC opponents here is Toledo's schedule: @Valpo, Detroit, @Oakland, Charlotte, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, Northwest Ohio, @Michigan State, Bradley, @Richmond, Marshall. I'd take that schedule any day of the week. And the Rockets are currently 7-2 against it with Bradley, Richmond and Marshall remaining. Charlotte, Tulane and and Coastal were all in the Bahamas tournament. Come on Charles we have faith in you :-)

Clemson upset #1 Oregon State on PK's or the final four would have been 1, 2, 3 and 4. Three of four games went down to PK's (including the last MAC rep WVU). Clemson, Washington Georgetown and Notre Dame in this year's College Cup.

You're correct about the number of titles, but they still lag Clemson (20) and Florida State (15) by quite a lot. Pitt would get off the schneid with a win this weekend (Wake has two titles).

Not at all they've got nothing to lose you might as well trying to keep go for it just like how they did the onside kick at the beginning of the second half. Not his fault players can't execute it.

I do like how Coach O is not backing down since the Zips have nothing to lose. I thought both 4th down play calls were appropriate to go for. But this is going to get really ugly soon.
