  1. And tomorrow let the Chipps fall where they may. ?
  2. Cool that we are included but gotta get there first. Tomorrow is going to be tough, CMU is way better at home than they are on the road.
  3. Glad to see he's still playing and doing well. Seems to have bulked up a bit too. Will probably always be my favorite Zip. Such a great guy.
  4. For all you Riak haters he sure has been playing some good defense. And too bad the Zips didn't stretch the lead to even larger while they were preventing BUGS from scoring.
  5. Tribble has been playing some good minutes tonight
  6. It is kind of ridiculous. In their sports menu they have a section for Ohio State and then another section for College Sports where Akron used to end up and there used to be a reasonable number of stories about Akron and the MAC. Today in the college section there are 39 stories. 35 are related to Ohio State, the other four are a basketball story each about Case Western, John Carroll, the Akron Kent game on January 31st and a Michigan college football coach who was fired after saying he would have dinner with Hitler. Quite the local Northeast Ohio college sports coverage there.
  7. At least in Akron. The Bowling Green board has exactly three comments on the game right now. Is it because they have been beaten down for so long they dare not to hope when a big game is coming up? 52 years is a long time to wait which is why I was rooting for them last year.
  8. Zips and BUGS had quite similar endings in their Saturday games. After the Zips dispatched EMU on a last second shot, BUGS won on two free throws with one second remaining. This is a pretty big game for the Zips. While they have owned BUGS over the last 20 years, they have really improved and certainly are heading for a top four seed. I was even rooting for them against Buffalo last year but obviously won't be if they face the Zips. With all the senior talent on the Zips this needs to be the year. So this is a pretty big game, win and the Zips and BUGS are tied in the loss column and the Zips remain very much alive for the top seed. A loss at home for a two game deficit with only seven games after that would be tough to make it. This needs to be a statement game and turn around the recent spate of poorer play.
  9. Even made it on the front page on CNN/Bleacher Report.
  10. Captain is true to his word on this. The first time I ever saw him (had not met him yet) was at the game at UConn in 2007 where he was wearing a Matt Cherry jersey.

    So much better ?
  12. Unbelievable Zips did not deserve to win that game at all but I'm still going to take it. Hey Merry Christmas NWAkron. ?
  13. if you open your first Christmas present and didn't get what you wanted do you quit opening them? ?
  14. If you are hoping for hopeful signs for this year ESPN shows the teams returning the most production. You can read the article to see what that means but they have the Zips as 14th in the country for returning production and first in the MAC. Of course it all depends on what your returning quality is of course.
  15. ESPN has LCJ listed as the frontrunner as MAC player of the year.
  16. So the MAC and other midmajor leagues have struggled with trying to protect their top seeds in a variety of ways. Remember the sort-lived experiment where the top two seeds got automatic placement into the semifinals? So to keep that from happening but also help the top seeds, what about the NFL model of lowest remaining seed plays the highest remaining seed so if the 12 upsets the 5 say then the 4 wouldn't automatically get benefit of the upset. Unfortunately it wouldn't do anything for "home field advantage" but it might protect the higher seeds a little better and would be really easy to pull off since all of those teams would be at the Q anyway.
  17. X x 3 x 2 = ?
  18. Were you around when the band Love Affair used to play there? Everyone always thought they were going to make it big. They did not.
  19. Ugh, BUGS has replaced us in Bracketology, but whereas we were listed as a 12 seed BUGS is all the way down as a 14. We need to take this back just for a little MAC self respect.
  20. ESPN has it as almost an exact tossup. 49.6% chance for the Zips vs. 50.4% for the Flushes.
  21. And the best part is there is only one Akron loss in the games they profiled ?
  22. Ouch. Loss to Buffalo dropped the Zips from 65 to 80 in the NET rankings. Still the highest ranked MAC team for now but that one hurt.
  23. Keep East Liverpool in your back pocket. They really do have one there. East Liverpool North Campus?
