You're doubting Dambrot? You're kidding, right? He's only in his second year, but he's already established himself as one of the conference's top coaches. He took the wreckage of Dan Hipsher and turned it into the best season Akron has seen in a very long time. You're crazy if you think you're better off without him. I'd take him over O'Shea anyday.

While we still still on the court... oy. 0-for-3 against the flushes...for those Zip fans in attendence tonight, I dont know if any of you caught it, but, we as K-ent fans were chanting, WE WANT AKRON! -
Don't underestimate the hot team. Toledo did what it needed to do to win, and they've already beaten Can't this year. They can do it. And Stan Joplin is still fighting for his job.
-
Except you're not. The top two in attendance for basketball this year was Ball State and Ohio, but thanks for playing. And there's no way there was 7,000 for the football game against Ohio. Maybe half that.Hate to burst your bubble, but Toledo not only is a top-2 in the league in football attendance, we are also in basketball. You see, we actually have a fan base, unlike your pathetic programs. The Toledo vs. BG basketball game OUTDREW the Crackron vs. Can't football game! -
It's a lot of fun playing your rival in the tournament, especially when you beat them. We certainly had a ball last night against Fiami.
-
If attendance is what you're interested in, replace Fiami with Buffalo. Bulls fans came in droves last year and would probably do the same again this go around. Not many RedHawk fans bother to get to the Qund.
-
While I sort of appreciate the sentiment, save your money. We're going to get handled in the M.A.C. Center.
-
Don't mind Ohio fan, please. We keep trying to lock him in the closet and he keeps getting out.But so far as an answer goes... if you're a student, they do sell special tickets for you for the games at the Qund. Call the ticket office for information. Is anybody just going to give me an honest answer? -
(shrugs) I liked what I saw from the team yesterday. You're not going to win every game, especially on the road. We're in fourth place in the division, so clearly we're not one of the conference's top teams. I liked the way they played for the first 37 minutes; they allowed it to get away from them at the end. Akron won and deserved to, but I don't think we were embarassed. If you do, that's your perogative.Check out the "Victory in Defeat" thread on there now. I don't see how there's any victory in getting embarrassed by 15 on national television. But hey, if it makes them feel better, whatever -
The game is Tuesday.

How about you wait until there's more than a review to starting calling the lot of us cheaters and liars, please?

Hey, don't lump him in with me. The only thing I said about a possible matchup in the tournament is that it would be a very exciting game.Wow. I am AMAZED at how confident those Ohio people are. A 15 point defeats brings out "guarantees"? You guys are nuts! I actually enjoy your enthusiasm, but you're outta your collective minds. See you at the Q. -
You're right. Here in Athens, we learn how to spell.Remember: you are not THE Ohio State University, you are it's red-headed stop child. -
Ohio fan is starting to annoy even me...And I don't know what he's talking about because you guys were the best student section I've seen in an opponent this year (and I've seen games with Cincy, UK, and other various MAC opponents). I haven't seen Buffalo, though, and they're supposed to be pretty good. That said, though, if you can find a way to get both ends in sync, you'd be much more effective. Sometimes one end would be doing a different chant than the other end... that doesn't work.

Let's get our facts straight, at least. But a good performance today by Akron in every regard except turnovers. The game is much like I thought it would be- close and tough, but you pulled away at the end. And like the game in Athens, had a shot here or there gone in, it might've gone the other way. Oh well.A rubber match at Cleveland would be electric, wouldn't you think? You never had the lead, we were leading from the first second till the last. -
Ohio comes in on a three game winning streak, Akron on a two game losing streak. And I think people are looking a little bit much into both of these things. If what I read here is true and Akron's guards are starting to wear down, they're going to have a very hard time keeping up with the Bobcats and their uptempo game. However, they should be able to press the advantage inside and win the battle on the boards.Ohio is playing much better than they were during a stretch of bad losses to Can't and Miami, but is it enough? I'm not so sure. And how will Akron respond being on national television? I was at US Bank Arena for the game against Kentucky, and it was obvious the boys tightened up late with the spotlight on them.I'm excited for this (I'm making the drive up) and expect a match similar to the one I witnessed Jan 26- physical, emotional, and very close. However, Akron should be the winners in this one in a tough game getting a win they very much need. For Ohio, on the other hand, having a good showing in this game is going to be good enough to show they can hang with the top competition in the conference and make a run in Cleveland. And so you know, the OZone is coming, so don't be surprised to see green.

I live near Akron. It's always a long drive to Athens. They're a cocky bunch, but that board is pretty good. Gonna be a long drive back home tomorrow night. -
You guys are getting a Lizard? I'm jealous.
-
Tim O'Shea? You're talking about Tim O'Shea? Uh... you might want to check your facts again. We're in Year 5 of the O'Shea Era and he has... one technical foul. One. I've seen carpet with more emotion than Mr. O'Shea. And I too would like to challenge the Rowdies because unlike you guys not traveling to Athens, Ohio fans ARE coming to the JAR. So don't be surprised if you hear a lot of pro-Bobcat cheering.Good call...a lot of our stuff for Saturday is centered around OU's coach. He has been known to flip out on occasions because the crowd gets in his head, eventually leading to technical fouls. -
Here here!I don't own any OSU garb because I hate the Buckeyes and can't figure out why people don't root for the school they attend. -
Toledo in the championship? What are you smoking? Buffalo in the semis? Maybe... they might play you in the quarters. And Ohio with the 8 seed? Uh, no. We clinched a home game in the first round already and will probably have the 5.1. K ent -----------MAC CHAMPS!!!!!2. N. Illinois-------one and done3. Akron-----------one and done after tonight's performance4. Miami---------MAC Semis5. W. Mich.-------one and done6. Buffalo---------MAC Semis7. Toledo----------Mac championship (Revenge for K ent!!!!)8. B. Green/Ohio-----one and done -
By that logic, The Convo is good for a 30 point home court advantage, as we beat Western by 30 and then lost in the Zoo.
-
Akron's in a tenuous situation right now. They have a BIG game Saturday against an Ohio team that seems to have figured itself out. Then they go to Buffalo. And the Bulls are tough at home and they're bound to have some shots fall into the basket. These last three games will give us a good indication about the toughness of this Zips team. But you need help in winning the East, as the record against Ohio could be the tiebreaker... and Miami swept us.

Funny you mention Donewald. You know he used to coach WMU, right?
