  1. I guess we should not even bother to show up. Wouldn't it be something to kick their ass? This is NOT ianellos football team.
  2. On the other hand, if Penn State is shut down, there is a possibility that AKRON could pick up a junior or senior transfer or two, being geographically close and having a nationally recognized coach. That would be interesting. I don't think the death option would stop the players from playing elsewhere, they had nothing to do with the crimes.
  3. Depends on how athletic this guy really turns out to be. Zeke is not aggressive on offense, which is why we needed the Serb to shoot. Tree goes to the basket, if this new guy can score, it would be a scary combination. It would also take the foul pressure off Zeke, because we would still have a big man if he fouls out. Which unleashes Zeke on defense.
  4. OH I agree. In fact, he grew an inch between junior and senior year, and has added something like 45 pounds. It is quite possible he will be a true 7 footer before he is done. Having two 7 footers on the court at the same time is just not something that the MAC is built for. It could be one heck of a year.
  5. Back in the day there actually were two sports athletes.
  6. OK, excuse the dumb question, BUT Would it be possible to put McAdams, who was heavily recruited as a football player, on the football roster and give him a football scholly? I don't think anything stops him from sitting on the bench at the info and also playing hoops. I know in general you probably can't hide a hoops scholarship this way, but Reggie was offered by several schools for football, so he is a legit football recruit.
  7. Based on the tapes, he appears to be more athletic than Zeke, and more aggressive to the basket. And while he is supposedly on inch shorter, he is a good 25+ pounds heavier. Having these two monsters on the court at the same time could make us very very tough. Is the OOC schedule final? This pickup could get us another good opponent or two.
  8. Zeke, Tree and this guy on the floor all at the same time is like the impossible dream. A team that could make a run in the Dance. Meanwhile. We still have Justice and McAdams. BOTH very strong contenders for playing time, if their HS careers are any guide.
  9. I must say, Bowden gets the prospects to take a look. I really think we are going to win some games this year, and be competitive for the MAC title next year.
  10. His father is blind. That's a pretty big hardship. He will get the waiver because it is not something made up. He will just say he must take care of his ailing disabled father. Who could say no to that? By the time December rolls around, we could have TWO seven footers on the floor. Has that ever happened in the MAC? Where oh where are we getting the scholarship from, THAT is the question?
  11. You cannot teach 7-feet Quote of the month.
  12. Looks like we may have found the big man replacement for Zeke. He is apparently young, and although will be a Soph academically, he will be Freshman age. So, who says he won't grow an inch and become Akrons second straight 7 footer? Definitely a great pickup. We needed a big man to take over for the Serb. Looks like we have that same problem as last year - too many good guys, not enough minutes.
  13. Actually, the article does not say he used the card - it says he friend found the wallet and he gave the cards to the other guy. Sounds like bad judgement, but no as bad as actually using the cards.
  14. I think Zeke would fit in a place where he could play his ass off and not have to worry about fouling out, because he is not the only big man.
  15. 2018 and 2019. I'll be 69 and 70 years old. Can't wait. Well, it does beat the alternative.
  16. According to the link that is FOOTBALL. And ya, 2018 is just around the corner.
  17. LMAO I have always felt it should be Akron State University. It is, after, a State University. Sounds better.
  18. “I liked the fact that they throw 60-some times a game and they have a prestigious coaching staff,” Stockett said. “It seems like a good atmosphere.” I guess he was not talking about iCoach.
  19. Actually, it is VERY impressive to "steal" a player from Rutgers. They are a Big East school (hell of a lot more prestige than the MAC) and one of the top academic schools anyplace (don't flame me, Rutgers, which is here in the East where I am, has a GREAT reputation).
  20. Can he be a walk on in the NFL or does he have to wait for the draft next year? The Giants have a near monopoly on former Zips, and I would love to see him get a shot here.
  21. Are you kidding? iCoach got a job. At a whole lot more money than I will ever make.
  22. I think we are on the same page. If a freshman spends most of the season on his back looking up it will impact his entire Div 1 career.
  23. The big thing here is that we all want to see some results after two seasons of absolute embarrassment. So whatever it takes to be competitive in the beginning of the season, while developing the future players. But if we start 0-4 it is going to be a horror, and we don't want a freshman who is a potential future starter to taste defeat so early in his career.
  24. They offered him more money and a good stepping stone to the national stage. They apparently wanted him BADLY and he could have probably pumped them for more money if he really wanted it. The only real benefit to him at Akron is that he could probably survive a couple of bad seasons since we know what we have in him. He may have missed his golden opportunity. On the other hand, we hope that golden opportunity resides right here and he finds it.
