I agree with you. I am suprised the U.S. did not make a bigger deal out of it (maybe they did) if the FIFA rule applies. I can't imagine better evidence than the video. All the same, we have been vindicated......U.S. moves on to the World Cup and Mexico is OUT!!!! I wonder if that has ever happened.

I see what you are saying based on the link I posted. I was simply addressing the comment in the original post about post game video evidence changing a call..........it is not going to happen and that is an issue in all sports. Let me finish my thoughts, I was in a hurry............ Diving (faking injury) is an issue in every sport. Faking injury in the NFL is a Huge topic right now where players are trying to slow down these new fast paced offenses. The motives are a bit different from those of a soccer player but it is still deception to gain an advantage. FIFA and the MLS have have addressed the "diving" issue. FIFA Rule - I am not sure if the rules are the same in the World Cup but they should be. Based on what I have read.......if this had occurred in a MLS or FIFA game, they could review the play and actually give the yellow card to the Costa Rica player and take it away from the U.S. player. (Not sure what the rules are in the NCAA but since they are such a worthless POS governing body, I would say they have not addressed it). So Dave, hopefully you continue with your appreciation for the game, when played well it is a lot of fun.

Not neccesarily related to this topic but why is it that our roster is not updated with new pictures and info on the players on gozips. Seems kind of bush league to me (even JMU has their stuff updated). Childish...........maybe but it has always bothered me.

Is it bad to be in the headlines? You can speculate all you want about who it caters to, I think it is time for a fresh makeover. Look at all the buzz the basketball team got with their jersey changes and the twitter stuff on the backs of their jerseys......its all good man. I am certainly not suggesting we build a facility like that (since we don't have Phil Knight as a benefactor), ours facilities are just fine. I am just pointing out that kids these days like the flash and glitter. Redesigning our uniforms to something a little more "2013" would not cost anything. We need to shake the old Akron football image that has won THREE games in the last three years. I look at it as an inexpensive shot in the arm. Honestly, I cannot believe it has not been done already.

Good news about this early signing is that he can be used to attract additional recruits (possibly some stud receivers)......This is a guy we can definitely build around. Safe to say we are VERY solid at the QB position if we get him.

Relax - We have high profile people at the school, Tressel is a popular coach/person. If a bobblehead helps, sell the damn bobblehead. Heck, my kids have a Lebron bobblehead and they love it, he never even went to UoA. They did have that goal and rightfully so but they got devastated by unforseen events. Things are getting increasingly better but it does not happen over night. Think of where we were, think of where we came from before Coach D became head coach. Hell, we did not win with Dambrot and Shaka as assistants. I am going to get off this site (which I am sure many of you will appreciate). To depressing.

Sounds like you want to take our football model GP1. Build a new multi-million dollar stadium, fire a coach that brought in top ranked recruits (with the Rubber Bowl), beat BCS teams, won a MAC Championship and hire a coach who is known to be a good recruiter.

Coach Dambrot did not have 60% of his anticipated starting line up (Diggs, Abreu, Walsh). He made adjustments through the year to get the longest winning streak in the nation, he made adjustments to win the MAC regular season and Tournament. That gets a good performance review in my book. You want to criticize his recruiting after he landed the top rated player the MAC has ever had (I like the rest of his recruits too). He is doing a great job with the hand he has been dealt. Let me tell ya, Shaka would get the same level players if he was at UoA and playing in the JAR. Man, it is fine to question things but I do not understand your thinking and perception of reality.

This is a valid point and I think supports Coach D. Last year, he did not have all the adversity and suprises he was dealt this year and we lost in OT. Last night was a perfect storm.
