I am surprise all the close scores and some even picking losses. I think the year we got beat by them we simple just didn't come ready to play. I think we a way better than Army. now granted I haven't look at their scouting report someone fill me in, am i missing something?

well we are gonna see which theory is right real soon because Marshall left the MAC for Conference USA, (which i feel is equal to the MAC) but is vastly viewed as a better conference. Lets see where that gets them. For us no matter how well we do the B10 is out our only hope would be Big East or Conference USA. IMO

Sounds to me like the best options are the Port Authority and the Old Courthouse....This is my first time tailgating and I am bringing 12 people and would really like to do this right, A big help would be by mainly being by other Akron Zips fans.

I have invited some friends to come watch my zips play this Saturday. Unfortunately they don't see the same value as me when it comes to paying for the tickets. So it looks like I will be getting tickets in the endzone since they are the cheapest. But anyway my question is do kids under 5 get if free? Could find anything, any info would be apprecieated.

Anyone else notice that Can't is updating their stadium, plus i can't believe they even considered getting out of playing BC for the patriot bowl...to me that is a no brainer !!

Am I the only one that thinks we will be fine at WR? I know we lost Harvey and Lindsey, but the guys replacing them have been in the system (ie Fuqua, Patterson, Williams, etc.) So all they have to do is get better...not get better and learn the offense. I know there is no substitiute for game experience but they will be fine. I think the coaching staff knows with the new stadium coming down the pipeline, they wanna be here to reap the recruiting benefits.

I like you idea of thinking outside the box but you gotta understand that some of these kids, former teammates of mine, really do try but some have such a poor foundation all the tutoring in the world won't help because you have to go back and teach stuff they should have learn in high school hell even grade school at times. I am not gonna single a guy out but we had a great linebacker that was OBVIOUSLY just passed along cause the kid could barely read. Do you know how hard it is to teach basic algebra if they don't know basic math? And if you have poor study habits, forget about history, and western cult.

The fact that they will become competitive in the MAC is even more disappointing because from the outside it will look like see Temple belongs in "that" conference because it is the same level of competition. I want them to continue to be a door mat. Others already look down on the conference if you add another bad team and they are competitive in a short amount of time that doesn't look good either. The one and only positive I see by adding Temple is we are in the New York market footprint, and me personally I don't put alot of stock in footprint talk.

It doesn't happen often but it does, and it does happen more times than you think, I verballed to Iowa, but once they made it clear I wouldn't play till I was a soph. and I had to play DB i changed my mind and went to Akron. (Man Faust can talk a good game). But the main reason I decided to go to Akron was the fact I would start when I got here and could play the position I wanted. And they "ALWAYS" showed they were interested. Every recruting class I seen come through Akron had atleast 6 guys that could have signed elsewhere but for different reasons didn't. Some valid some not so valid IMO. Some genuinely just had a great time on their visit and felt more at home and welcome, than just lost in the shuffle of a bigger school. Some didn't get a good "vibe" from the coaches. Like you were hearing a canned speech and that they wanted you but didn't need you. Some like to feel needed, and not just another commodity.Almost all of the props MAC schools get would be at bigger schools if they qualify. Only problem is you don't know if you'll have them for 4 years. I am basing this off of my experience at Akron and the numerous friends that I have that have played at other MAC schools

I agree I think most would rather have a stadium than a place to drink.

The publication probably assumes since Temple is coming from the big east they will finish in the middle. And Frank Solich has done a great job at OU. And Ball State has a good QB and we are an incosistent breaking in a new QB team. so as far as making predictions I could see how it comes out that way but that doesn't mean I agree with it.

Has it crossed anyone's mind that with our depth at running back I am sure one or two will get moved to wide receiver.

Hence Lee Owens strategy of recruiting the "good ole boys" from Stark County. Gotta have a mixture of both IMO.

I don't care what any of you say this hurts, we lost a "Freshman of the Year" player. Sometimes we need to be honest with ourselves, there is a reason an athlete as good as Harvey ends up at Akron. But some of you i feel are too judgmental. I have mixed feeling about Harvey...1. i don't know the kid...so if he has been pushed though the school systems all his life because he was a good athlete you can't expect him to be able to do it on his own all of a sudden at the college level. All the tutors in the world won't help if you don't know the fundamentals.2. In order to flunk out he had to have 2 bad consecutive semesters, if the first was bad J.D. should of had one of his G.A.'s escorting this kid everywhere from class to tutors to class and then to practice. I know that they are young adults but if my job is on the line "i" would do whatever it takes.But failing at an opportunity that others wish they had doesn't make you a low life!
