  1. You mean CM8? It's the new math LR8=CM8 and PN7=SOL Be patient, Grasshopper. SOL will get his chance. And, unlike LR8 he will actually be able to see over the rumps of the offensive linemen. FYI .... 2011 season tickets sales are way done. I bought ONE GA season ticket for $60 today. They were happy to give me the food discount coupons. But, I had a little fight with the ticket office to get them to include the free parking pass as advertised in the ABJ. Oh, the free parking is in the Exchange St. parking deck. That would be close in parking in Cowlumbutt, but, in Akron its in Siberia.
  2. Love them! As long as we stick with GOLD and DO NOT go to YELLOW I am fine with whatever they do. (I am, though a big fan of the gold helmet. I would hope any change would try to retain a mostly gold helmet.) No yellow!!! Blue & GOLD. Go Zips! I agree. No more yellowish helmets. I would prefer a dark gold helmet with a slightly less stylized roo.

  4. Now, if only the men could get home games like these.
  5. I watched several episodes of cable TV about Montrose Christian. This is the HS that Carmelo attended his senior year. He was their starting point guard. He definitely can play. Word I have is that he is friends with Alex Abreu. The probability of Carmelo keeping his commitment to Akron is high. From what I heard, over 90%. Akron is poised to literally become a major-major in a mid-major conference. Thus, players want to come here. (boy, will I get flack from the drones for this statement)
  6. As things look right now, tickets to both games should be easy to get. Chapel Hill is the easy choice since you will be right there. The statium is in the middle of campus with little parking. The best college football setting I have ever seen. Be prepared to walk a lot. UNC fans are a bunch of babies and be prepared to want to punch some of them in the face while you are there, but hold back from doing so. Franklin Street uptown is a cool scene. Lots of hot girls walking around. Wake is a much different atmosphere. Stadium is not on campus but the non parking pass parking is real good across the street at the basketball arena. There are some bars across the street from the BB arena that are good enough if you don't want to tailgate. The BB lot isn't the best place to tailgate. The stadium is about the size if Info so all seats are real good. Games not sold out so you can buy a ticket. Sit on the Wake side on the end near the new scoreboard as the sun is brutal on the visitor's side. Wake fans are Ivy League type people as Wake is a great school. Old money people who never get too excited or too down. They clap politely. Since I have no school loyalty and just want to watch college football, Wake is the choice for me. It is also an hour closer to my house than Chapel Hill. Lots of hot 60 year old women walking around. It all depends on what you want to do. GP1, please define what a hot sixty year old woman looks like. Post pixs if you can. Being sixty-eight myself, I find that women in their forties are the ones I lust for. You are just an old troll pervert. Jane Fonda still looks good. Linda Carter sill looks good, Jacklyn Smith is still outrageously gorgeous I think all if them are aat least 60. Not sure though. I guess what I'm saying is if you are located in Hollywood and have a lot of money and freinds that know people , you may have a very miniscule chance of finding a hot 60 year old Suzanne Somers perhaps? I prefer two 30 year olds. I'm not wired for 230.
  7. Not sure if this is the highest ranking ever by the ladies. Fun to see them ranked higher than the Miami Deadhawks. Lady Zips Rank High note: This is a regional ranking. The Ladies are NOT ranked nationally (yet).

  9. GoZips, could you elaborate on this statement? Thanks in advance! Bump Dear Blue & Gold, Apparently, our friend GoZips has nothing to elaborate on. He just writes stuf like that whenever he runs out of arguments. It also makes him feel smarter and more knowledgeable than everyone else. And I wasn't trying to be smart. I wasn't at all concerned with the, "Almost none of you have a clue..." part. I'll admit that I don't - that's why I asked the question. I just wanted GoZips to elaborate, "about Reggie McAdams and what a coup that was." GoZips, tell us what you know about McAdams. I don't know the first thing about the guy. Educate us about our most recent verbal. Blue, since you asked a legitimate question and not a snide remark I will tell you what I know. A comment was made to me by KD that this kid is one of truly great athletes in the country. He has a slew of Big Ten and other conferences offers to play QB in football. Additionally, he has offers from several major-majors to play basketball. He selected Akron because he took the time to evaluate his options, the schools, the teams, the coaches, etc. and he decided, much like Zeke Marshall did, that he wants to be part of the Akron Zips. For KD and the Zips this is huge. This kid is the follow on to Zeke Marshall. That does not mean at the same position, but at the level of ability. Couple this with Treadwell, Harney, Gilliam, Betancourt, etc. you get one heck of program for the next several years. And to Ada Zip, the difference between you and me is that coach Dambrot will actually tell me this stuff. Some of it he asks me to not publish more than a tid bit. As for acting superior; ask mes102. When I was invited to tour the new player lounges and weight room I immediately invited him to join us on the tour. I share the best I can.
  10. Wonder if Nikola is hurt. All the other Serbia players got in the game. The score indicates that Serbia put the Canucks away in the second half. 68-55 Serbia wins.
  11. They tend to cluster around the east end goal. This is where the AK-rowdies also clump. Zipsnation folks will generally be wearing a National Championship tee shirt. The AK-Rowdies have AK-Rowdies tees. Both will be loud and vulgar.
  12. While a game that ends in a tie is often held akin to kissing your own sister, this game tells us that once again Caleb has put forth an amazing group of young players. Not only is Creighton ranked tenth they are a veteran side that only lost two players from their NCAA tournament caliber program. The Zips need a huge turn out of AK-Rowdies for the Cleveland State match next Saturday. Be there or transfer to cant.
  13. Check out the schools this kid was interested in and being courted by. Impressive.
  14. SWEET ... !!!!
  15. Love Spandex.
  16. Quote from BGSU AD: "Changing the tournament bracket falls in line with our philosophical approach to each of the MAC Championships,” said Greg Christopher, Director of Athletics at Bowling Green State University and Chair of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Committee. “Our tournaments and championships are about preparing our best teams for post-season. With that in mind, it makes sense to give our top teams byes and better-position their paths to the championship." This change is designed to help the Golden Felons get to the NCAA tournament. The objective is so obvious a blind man in Milwaukee saw through this.
  17. Dambrot agrees with you Quick. And he says the injury is "minor". Interesting. You completely missed Brett McClanahan who I have at the shooting guard as did Dambrot. I will stand by my line up with Nick Harney at the small forward; for several reasons. First, Nick is taller and a good bit more athletic than Quincy is. Nick is a better shooter and rebounder. Nick plays his game more under control. Also, Quincy is far and away the most versatile Zip player. Which makes him more valuable as a multi-position player. The sixth man will get the same minutes or more minutes than most of the so called starters. As for not having McClanahan as the starting shooting guard; only a serious injury would sit him down. He is a senior with a ton of playing experience. If you actually believe that Diggs is a better player than Brett, go tell that to Dambrot. Try to understand something. I have absolutely nothing against Quincy Diggs. I want him on the floor as much as possible. I also want him to play where he gives the most to the team. And, in my mind's eye that is playing a multi-position role where his talents and energy can best be used. Being the sixth man is not a punishment; it is a compliment. Prediction: CJ Oldham will play a fair amount of minutes. Far more than Kyle Petersen has any hope of.
  18. Chauncey brings something Brett McKnight never had. That is, an understanding of how to play defense. Chauncey loiters down low on weak side help. He will get plenty of rebounds, and stick backs. As for my rationale on playing Quincy as the sixth man, Q has the most versatility of any Zip to play almost all the positions. Thus, he can come in off the bench and play with strength at three, maybe four positions. I can't see this with Gilliam. This partially due to Diggs being taller (6'-6"). Although, I admit that Chauncey can play the one, the two and the three pretty well. Both Gilliam and Diggs will get a lot of minutes. Go with the hot hand.
  19. The Canada trip should be deemed a huge success. Players got a lot of extra practice for a key year. They had an opportunity to play as team mates. Which they sure seemed to do well. Skills were improved and weaknesses uncovered. The schedule sequence allowed the kids to mesh as a team prior to playing Carlton which was a bonafide nasty opponent. The biased officials was just like playing a MAC road game, er, home game or a MAC game period. The only thing I saw in the Carlton game that bothered me was Akron's failure to shut down #23. Scrubb had little trouble penetrating the lane, drawing fouls and generally playing his game. IMHO I think Scrubb could start for the Zips right now. Ticked me that Diggs got called for an intentional foul and in the next sequence of plays two obviously intentional fouls by Carlton were called as a simple foul. Unfortunately I only got to watch the last 14 minutes of the game due to my business. I think the announcers were borrowed from the Golden Felon radio team.
  20. Akron 80, Carlton 76
  21. Was KD deliberately trying to make this a close game? I wonder. As I previously mentioned ... I smelled a rat about the officials at Carlton. That was about a lopsided "home cooking" game as we have witnessed in a couple of years. The Zips were fouling when they had the ball; more than once. Harney gets whacked; mutters something; gets his second technical which is an automatic ejection. Carlton sends Scrubb to the free throw line for two gimmees and the ball. Really, really well officiated game. Tree in the game when it is on the line and, of course, he bricks free throws. Hopefully Carlton did not know how bad he is at the foul line. Number twenty-three for Carlton, Phillip Scrubb, was as advertised. Fortunately he missed a critical free throw at game's end to help the Zips. Celebrate five en oh. I would preferred to clock Carlton as they had attitude. Had to turn the sound off. When those announcers said "zipperheads" I was ready to kick some Canuck arse. They were terrible. The Red Sox game with the Yankees was more important to them.
  22. Central Florida report about their three game Canada trip. UCF Likes To Beat Up On Opponents
  23. I think he's gaining a better appreciation of Kyle Peterson and CJ Oldham's situations. Excellent point. I agree.
  24. Nikola plays in Serbia's rout of Turkey. He scored two points; picked up a rebound and a steal.
  25. Seems wrong to me. Number two in the MAC? Behind the Golden Felons? And where is Western Mich with five returning starters? Behind let's Ball State? Surely (and don't call me Shirley) WMU is not number one. Or, are they? The Felons out of the top 144? Not likely. So, this writer picks the Felons over the loaded Zips. He is completely wrong. Gilliam is in no way going to play at the small forward. Chauncey is a big two guard in a big line up. Harney has the small forward spot. At least the writer/evaluator has Diggs as the do it right sixth man. But, not for the right reasons. Quincey could well start. In fact, he may. In fact, Q will start some games. But, at the wing guard where his height and skills make him more valuable. Jumping up to number ninety might seem a far stretch to some, but, it falls short in my eyes. NIT? That is not the goal of these kids. Sweet sixteen or better is the goal. You all heard Tree. Truth is, both Akron and the Felons could end up in the NCAA tourney. And, I would not count out a rarer than rare third MAC bid. The conference is about to have a great season. Yeah, yeah, like I know anything.
