  1. I have found by trial and error that non-consecutive strings seem to be left in tact.Example: FARK, FARKB, FARKE, FARKJ, FARKQ, etc.Example: FARK1, FARK4, FARK7, FARK9Also, some reentered strings with sequentual letters or numbers seem to be left alone. Go figure.I send an e-mail to the webmaster concering the vote tallying. In twelve weeks no mascot has rammed in that number of votes in such a short time.Either there is a program written (called a script) that gets around their "gotcha" password scheme or they are converting votes for Zippy into votes for OTTO.That would be an inside job and unlikely. But, over fifty votes for OTTO in three minutes and three for Zippy is some sort of cheating. The rate at which Zippy votes is increasing is nearly impossible to be that slow. Over the course of this contest Zippy votes tend to accumulate at a steady pace.
  2. In less than two hours OTTO has reduced Zippy's lead by more than 270 votes. This is not good.
  3. Starting about 11:15 a.m. OTTO supporters have begun a massive attack on Zippy's vote lead. They have taken over 100 votes out of her lead in less than TWENTY minutes.Take time to vote. fight back.
  4. My my, isn't it fun to castigate the team and its schedule? Seems everyone forgot two important facts. Facts that have deeply wounded the Zips. First, Darryl Roberts failed to qualify for college last season. Thus, leaving theZips an excellent point guard short. The hold up this year is not his fault. Blame the State of Ohio. Hopefully this will be resolved in mid December.More importantly was the unexpected loss of Ronnie Steward. Steward is a far better point guard than Steve McNees. This hurt the Zips awful. Honestly, it is not likelythat Steward will play this year. He was walking with a bad limp at the Wyoming game. The Zips are learning how to operate with an improvised point guard (Middleton most of the time). McNees should be decent by conference play. Saturday night the Zips looked like the Zips we all know and love. They stomped a decent team. Tomorrow we shall find out if they can nail a good team on the road. I predict that they will.I think we should stay the course. That is, trust coach Dambrot and his crew to wisely schedule opponents. I realize that some of you have visions of scheduling UNC, PUKE and even OSU in their house and flaming them. Not a chance. The refs would never allow it. Onlyway to do that is to come with far better talent than they have.Stop worrying about RPI, strength of schedule, etc. Just win. That is what it is all about. If the Zips fall short in the MAC tourney and have over 20 wins they are quitelikely to get an NIT bid. Last year's faux pas embarrassed those old coots. They wont let that happen again.
  5. Vote for Goldy. HairyDawg (UGA) is one large university and was the strongest opponent against Zippy in the regular "season".
  6. Ahem. What a load of crap about Davidson and their games against Duke and North Carolina. Davidson's nickname is the Wildcats. Davidson plays their home games in Belk Arena (capacity 5,700) located in Davidson, NC. Bobcat Arena is in Charlotte is technically a neutral site not unlike the "Q" in Cleveland. Now I am not privvy as to whose "home" game these were. Does it really matter? What it amounts to is a "home" game for either Duke or UNC because both have a farlarger fan base than does Davidson. Sound familiar? This is similar to the Zips having a "home" game in the "Q" against Ohio State. A sea of red at your home game.A nice loss, everyone goes home happy (do they really?). Ohio State gets a huge boost in fan support for taking their show on the road. Bullship. The 2007-08 Sporting News College Basketball issue lists both these games as home games for Duke and UNC.Coach Dambrot has it right. Schedule mid majors and willing major-majors home-n-home. Yield a two for one when really necessary. But, only for a high profile major. To clear up some creeping nonsense, North Carolina did play Cleveland State at the Convo Center a few years back. But, there is a twist to this. UNC was originallyscheduled to play Akron in the JAR. After the schedule was set Roy Williams became the new head coach at UNC, his staff promptly convinced him that playing a roadgame against a team with a #237 RPI was a lot safer than playing a #65 RPI opponent in a band box (see the days of John Wooden). CSU got their brains (if they have any) beat out three times. Akron scheduling suffers from success. The JAR is a pit. The fans are right on top of the players. Twenty-five hundred fans in the JAR is more than enough to sound deafening. Ask the Wyoming head coach. He said as much on his post game radio show. Forty-three and two and you want to take your high profile mid or high majorinto that place? Are you serious? Is your coaching resume up to date?I know for a fact that at least two high profile coaches that had boasted they would "play anybody, any where, any time" refused to schedule the Zips. Tommy "gutless"Izzo are you listening? Ask Stan Joplin about high profile OOC games. He now admits that such scheduling was a serious mistake. His young team got more shell shock than toughening. As for those of you who think they can put together a better schedule, stop by and offer your services to coach McFadden. He will welcome your host of inside contactsand "pull". Lord knows coach Rick has busted his butt hustling up opponents.
  7. Here is how they see it.Wyoming Viewpoint
  8. I ran into the same thing yesterday. Chain names (i.e. Zippy, Zippy1, Zippy2, Zippy3, etc.) get deleted. Standalone names (xray, zebra, foxtrot) are still okay.I simply rebuild some of the chains. I used them yesterday and again today. Not sure if they will hack them again. Also, I noticed that chained names not ending in numbers seem to be okay. at least one I use is still good.Just rebuild the chain; vote; hope for the best.If anyone finds a way to create and use chains that they do not delete send a message to UAKRONKID, GOZIPS, CAPTIAN KANGAROO.Do NOT post the solution on the message boards.
  9. Do not sit back on your duff letting some one else vote for Zippy. This week is a genuine challenge. Hairy Dawg is the only other mascot assured of a play off berth. Thus, there is no incentive for other candidates voters to back Zippy. This week we have to do it on our own.I agree with UAKRONKID on who to vote for.Vote, vote, vote and vote some more. Encourage everyone to vote for Zippy. This is a critical week.
  10. Zips win 2-1 on a golden goal in the second overtime.Face Buffaclo tomorrow at 2 PM for opportunity for an automatic NCAA bid.Be there.
  11. Zippy Spotted Hustling Votes
  12. Northern Illinois defeated Bowling Green 3-0. Thus they face Akron Friday night in the semi-finals.Hartwick tied Western Michigan and then proceeded to win the shoot out. Hartwick faces Buffalo in the other semi-final match.
  13. It is now ten PM Monday evening. Have not been able to post a vote on Capital One Bowl since nine PM.A friend in Detroit tried to vote and she could not get through either.Any one else having problems?
  14. While Zippy has a comfortable, dare I say an insurmountable lead over BIG RED; SEYMOUR and CAVMAN are in nip and tuck battles. Both of these mascots, if they winover their current opponents, MONTE and COSMO, benefits Zippy. MONTE would fall to 4-6 and be out of the playoffs. MONTE is a two time national champion. That implies a tough opponent in the playoffs.SEYMOUR is trailing MONTE by about 140 votes late Sunday afternoon.CAVMAN and COSMO are both 4-4 in the competition. I think COSMO is a far more dangerous opponent in the playoffs. Right now CAVMAN is leading COSMO by 60 votes.Let's help ourselves by helping SEYMOUR and CAVMAN defeat dangerous opponents.Go Zips ... !!!!
  15. Amen ... !!!!
  16. This not really worth my time. SGM, once again you chirp spewing irrelevant statistics while ignoring the truth. And, truth matters.During the preseason the Clowns wasted many, many valuable snaps on Quinn. They never really gave Frye the snaps needed to lock in.Add in that in the first game of the season against a veteran Pittsburgh defense (one of the best in the NFL) the Clown O-line was still not in sync. The Steelers ran over, through and around Kevin Schaffer like he was not even on the field. This was a four lane highway right to Frye. But, as SGM knows, those five sacks were Charlie'sfault. Pretty darn tough to think of what to do when you are running for your life thanks to Kevin "I'm a hole" Schaffer. The Clowns originally brought Frye in to the fold because he is a scrambling roll out QB. The new offensive coordinator much prefers a pocket passer (which Anderson is). Thus, I think Charlie was set up by the coordinator to fail. A careful analysis of the plays Frye was given to run were not of the type that best fit his operating style.I think the Clowns have been twice surprised. First, the O-line jelled a lot sooner than they expected. Second, this made Anderson a lot better looking QB.Of course, the fun part begins next Sunday when Quinn gets his first game experience after the Steelers level Anderson and send him to the hospital with a concussion. Here is a clue: the Steelers are the number one blitzing defense in the NFL.Next season the Clowns start all over at QB as they invest the bank in Quinn casting hard working Anderson aside just as they did Frye.I'll say it again for all you slow learners ... Charlie Frye will get his ring by being the starting QB of a team that wins the Super Bowl BEFORE the Clowns ever play ina Super Bowl game.
  17. Cough, cough ... really? Five bucks frosts yer hiney? Me thinks you are pulling a fast one. That processing fee has been part of the ticket order for as long as I canremember. I have held season football and basketball tickets at least back to the early 1970's. I am sure there has always been a processing fee the entire time. What's the big deal other than trying to sound petty? Sixty bucks to sit in nose bleed end zone seats for a Suckeye game. Bet you wouldn't whine about paying thatfrieght.Hey, I think you can a discount on Kant State High season tickets. Turn left at the next left.
  18. Back in the day when Z.I.P. played socker the balls were twenty-three sided hollowed out wooden balls.aii .... !!!!!
  19. Zippy is getting his arse smoked by the Cocky lovers.Nice 400 vote lead is gone. Appearantly a lot of folks want to see our beloved mascot shot down. Being on top creates lots of enemies.A check out girl at West Point Market last evening admitted to being a UA student. She was CLUELESS about the contest. Naturally, she has never been to a UA athelticevent of any kind. A pimply faced sneerd, er, bag boy, still in high school loves Cant Read, Can't Write High. He was clueless about what is wrong with Cant. I give the check out girl props for at least knowing that Cant still sucks.
  20. You wont believe this. You know how Chris McKnight is a virutal clone of Romeo Travis. Well, get ready for his younger brother Brett. After Sunday practice I waschatting with KD. A really muscular kid with a head full of corn rows was shooting hoops. When he nailed several treys in a row I asked KD when did J Wood getso proficient at shooting the three ball. He looked at me funny and said, "that's not Wood. That's Brett McKnight."You are going to love this kid. He is powerfully built. Huge at six-six. He might just be the best player on the Akron team right now. And, that is saying a ton.Brett comes eligible in January as does Darryl Roberts.Darryl will bolster the guard rotation which is a little thin just now. Ronnie Steward twisted his ankle a week ago. Ronnie has been on crutches and is losing valuablefloor time. Steve McNees will pick up the slack. Presently you can pencil in Middleton as the starting point. McNees is getting better every time out. But, aside fromshooting the ball well, Steve is not as good a point as Steward is by any stretch of the imagination.Quade Milum looks to be about six-nine. KD says Quade is six-eight. I would bet on six-nine. Quade is lookig great. You will be pleased.New wrinkle to the Zips this season. KD has them running after nearly every screw up. They ran a lot Sunday.
  21. NBS, I did not say that Swiech would be red shirted. What I am implying is that with all the front court depth (Milum, Bardo, Wood, McKnight) that has game experience and/or knows KD's system getting on the floor is a tall order at this point. It seems practical to red shirt Swiech. Gives him a year to learn as Bardo had. Extends thereign of having a really big man. Bardo and Swiech are the first really big men since the Huggins era.Actually, what I inferred was that Swiech is such a presence that thoughts of red shirting him are hard to justify. He looks to be an awesome player. We are talkingBrian Roth type player here. Probably a good bit better than Brian Roth. That is high praise for this young man.J Wood is a large man. He is a stud in the real sense of the word. Swiech dwarfs J Wood. Swiech is no bean pole. I could see Swiech playing defensive end in the NFL.A kid quickly squanders a dollar in a candy store. Coaches hoard their treasures. So, at this point I will speculate that Swiech will be red shirted. Most likely Brett McKnight will be red shirted or something similar. Brett is a small forward. The Zips have Linhart and Conyers in that position. If need be, eitherMilum or Chris McKnight can play the three hole. Granted, Brett can play the four. But, J Wood owns that spot. Milum, C-Mac and Linhart all have game experiencein that spot. I have been told that Bardo can play down to the four as well. btw, J Wood played the five most of the time last year and will again this year.In Dambrot's system most players rotate positions. They are talented enough to play two or three different roles. This works well. Gives depth. It all comes downto depth and needs. The Zips have a lot of depth at every position except point guard. But, even there Dials or Middleton could cover. Look for Steward to run thepoint.I am really high on this team's potential. What surprises me is that most analysts are clueless. I would like to know how Blue Ribbon Yearbook grades the Zips.
  22. Stop whining. Vote. Vote often. Influence others to vote, and often. This can be won.My bloody finger stumps are pounding out over 100 votes per day.Me, I always vote for the losing mascot of the other five races.Sure would be nice to team up with another school. I liked the Clemson idea. However, looks like the Suckies have the write in vote.Hey, dumb asses from Can't State. If you teamed with Akron to put Zippy over the top the Zips votes could give your flush dude the write-in win.Stupid. That must be why you chose Can't State.
  23. First look was impressive. My thoughts.Going to be darn hard to red shirt Steve Swiech. He is a full load. Huge, mobile, and coachable. But, long term, since there is such depth, KD can afford to red shirt him.Rydell Brooks in uniform and hustling. Think he sits a year due to transfer rules. Two foot long dreads sets him apart.Bardo is nearly as large as Swiech. Mike has a year of the system under his belt. He will contribute. No Darryl Roberts or Brett McKnight bodies in sight. At least not Friday night.C-Mac looking more Rome like. Still has a lot of senior talent in front of him. He will get mote minutes this year. Real positive here. That Senior talent is Quade Milum. Just a tad more muscular this year and still leaps higher than Zippy. Many years ago one Don Williams was the Zips Cap't Dunk.I think it is safe and wise to bestow this honor on Quade. You are going to love the show.Surprised that most of the B-ball rags have Jeremiah Wood no where in sight. Fools. J Wood is the man that will elevate the Zips to a better season than last year.Maybe no twenty-six in season wins, but a team than could beat last year's squad night after night. Book it.Saw a glimpse of the early season starting line up. Surprised that no one wrote about it. Five on five drills full court, line up was J. Wood (looking great), N. Dials (theblonde bomber), steady N. Linhart, Quade in the four slot and the point guard was Ronnie (Jet) Steward.Yep, looks like Ced has the ego to handle being the best sixth man in the conference (so voted) again this year. Perhaps the best sixth man in the nation. He has my vote.Mop haired Steve McNees will see plenty of floor time.Jimmy Conyers needs to hone his shooting skills to grab the three hole starting spot. Otherwise, he looks to be fit and ready. Between Jimmy and Nate the three spotis in excellent hands.Met Andy Moss the invited walk on out of Copley. Really nice kid. Think he will contribute and grow. Maybe only junk minutes this year. But, this year of experiencecould help toward REAL minutes next year. Hang in there Andy.Tim Carroll still with the team. Think he can contribute. A lot of it is up to him. Do the work, Tim.The mad bomber is now a senior. Nick Goddard still able to bring the three ball in the clutch.Going to give them a week to get the kinks out. then I will take a second look.
  24. Ahem. Any wonder why UA officials such as Dr. Porenza, Mack Rhoades and nearly all the coaches want out of the MAC?We are hated. Often with such a passion that inflicting unjust calls against the Zips is almost a sport among the game officials.Keep up the good work voting for Zippy. Its grand recognition to other conferences that a fire burns brightly in Akron.
  25. Of course there is no one at the game. All the little, geeky twerps are in their dorm rooms power slamming Zippy in the Capital One Bowl contest.
