I hit two or three of the women's games last year since they included them in the men's season ticket package. My first question would be if the "problems" on the court are Kennedy's recruits or Allen's leftovers. My guess is it's the latter.

From the Miami site: "I'll tell you about crAkron, it's a S***hole. They added a nice new rec center, some nice buildings, but it's still crAkron. That place sux. It resembles the Pittsburgh Pirates. You can build a new stadium, but it's still the Pirates. And that my friend, is crAkron, an absolute S***hole. Now, football wise, Miami is BY FAR the better team. Their D is putrid as always, and has a lot of trouble tackling. We should be able to throw all over them. They have a nice O, but I don't think it was better than last years with Cherrie. crAkron has some Mo, but Miami really is the better team."

I have to admit I cannot believe it. I woke up this morning and suddenly remembered the win last night and still kind of got a shock. WAY TO GO ZIPS! Beat the Bobkitties - ONE GAME AT A TIME!
-
Pretty sure they can either be redeemed at the ticket office or used as a ticket at the bowl. Someone I know asked UAM and she said they could be used either way no problem - something about how they had to put that on the tickets but they could be used at the gate, too.
-
I bet if you called UAM directly they'd be happy to set you up. I had to call for something once and they were great.

I click on Brookhart's pic but I get nothing but a blue screen. What gives?

Or my personal favorite bumper sticker this election year: "Al Qaeda, help is on the way: Kerry/Edwards"

This is new I think and maybe not a bad idea: http://gozips.collegesports.com/genrel/102604aaa.html

While I hope our Zips beat every opponent, I take some comfort that we were not able to beat a branch of our military in marksmanship
-
Our season seems to be divided in thirds: The beginning: BCS schools and figuring out new schemes, staff, etc. The middle: We beat the teams we're supposed to beat. All of them. Yes. The end: But are we good enough to finish strong against the top of the division (save Ohio, which is a much better team than their record suggests). Time will tell, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that we lose the next three. If we win one of the next three, I'm happy. If we beat either Marshall or Miami and happen to take a defeated OU in an away game, I'm ecstatic. But hey, as French mentioned on the radio the other night, we've clinched a third place tie in the division. Who'd a thunk it four weeks ago???

I know this is a dead thread but thought you'd all get a kick out of this article. Not THIS is a PSL! http://stlouis.bizjournals.com/stlouis/sto.../25/story1.html

You thought 7K was high? That's funny - I thought it was low; it looked like 10K before the game but then after the rain I think a lot of folks left - and that was almost right after the opening kick.

Now I'm jumping in on this. I can't believe you turned psl's into a political debate. You're losing it at election time, my friend. Instead of Wrong Wrong Wrong you sound like Waaah, Waaah, Waaah. Do you believe Akron should give good seat choice to those who have had season tickets the longest? Is this your criteria for seat selection? Assuming some good years are a-comin', you believe those top donors should be up in our equivalent of the nosebleed section? That'll keep 'em giving. I have a better idea. Since you think the almighty dollar is what's ruining the place, let's just not have athletics! Then there will be NO dollars spent, and NO need to solicit outside help (read donors) for the athletics programs. Because most university athletic programs are not self-supporting, and need private and corporate monies to help the programs exist. You just don't think there should be any inducements for the donors, right? WHAT PLANET ARE YOU LIVING ON???

Maybe he has direct deposit so he doesn't have to face the teller And if I did the quote wrong someone here please tell me how to use that feature. I feel so inadequate....
-
Might be faculty looking for a contract. It had to be a large bloc of people to swing the numbers so dramatically overnight, and I can think of no other large group who would so disfavor athletics. What a crock. I am losing sympathy for them quickly. Time to get out the vote!

The previous requirement of a minimum 30,000—permanent seat stadium is no longer effective as of August, 1, 2004. Per the Knight Commission report. Wonder how many schools went out and increased their stadium sizes because of this (Buffalo is one, I believe). Kind of makes you wonder about the 15K rule, doesn't it?
-
Gentlemen (and ladies, as they may be present here): We can vote on the new stadium at www.akron23.com I believe it is important for all of us to show the court of public opinion that we support this wholeheartedly. Apparently the results of this survey will be reported on the local PAX news this evening. Get out the vote! Go Zips!

UCFKnight04, thanks for the post and welcome. Your comments about UCF reminded me of us in many ways (except that we, of course, already have a quarterback Ain't it fun implementing new systems?) I believe as Charlie goes, there goes the team, and right now Charlie's head appears to be on pretty damn straight. He is one tough mother. But as you have said, no one here dares try to predict at this point in the season. Should be a good game. Fellow Zips, is this one on tv anywhere??
-
Boy do we look gunshy about celebrating a win on this board. Granted, Buffalo is not too good so maybe the win is not a good indicator of our improvement, but it would appear we are slowly getting our act together. And Charlie looked much more confident than in the past. We'll see, we'll see. But great game Zips. Very good job of taking it to 'em and don't let Central have anything.
-
That is hilarious . I find it ironic that there are any posts for Brookhart's head after we lose to Northern Illinois - whose coach went something like 3-30 in his first three seasons there. ADs have to take the long haul approach, and it appears Akron's is doing just that. Hire the right guy and then let him build it. BTW, I notice Pitt appears to be imploding without JD. Just an observation but one that bears mentioning.

The NIU tv folks keep on repeating how our receivers aren't getting open for Charlie.

Great idea Zips BB. http://gozips.collegesports.com/sports/m-b.../092304aaa.html
