I hope the members of the committee are not the same people who sat on the Coach I committee. Unfortunately, nobody on the committee has probably heard of Ludwig von Mises and the three elements necessary for change. A person must experience all three before making a change. 1. Uneasiness with the current state of affairs. 2. A vision of a better state. 3. A belief that a better state is achievable. Before making Paul an offer, the committe/TW should have known the answers to these points. Was Paul uneasy with his current situation? I would tend to say no based upon the available information because WSU just played for the national championship. Given Paul's age, some discussion with him should have focused on his age and ability to make a leap/take a risk at this point in his life. The older someone gets, the more risk averse they become. Not scoring on point 1 is enough to not close a deal. However, is the vision of a better state UofA football coming off two 1-11 seasons and an Athletic Department with TW at the helm? My personal opinion is no, but others are free to argue. Strikes 1 and 2 now have happened. A belief that a better state is achievable. With TW as the AD? I would say no. It doesn't matter though because Paul was never uneasy with his current situation. Everyone thinks TW should have been able to easily "close the deal" with Paul. Nonsense. Even if TW is a good deal closer, von Mises would tell us there was no way Paul was going to accept the position. The best way to close a deal is to guide a person in a direction that creates points 1,2 and 3 to happen in the mind of the decision maker. That's what the best of the best salesmen do. Make them realize for themselves the change is necessary. Timing has to be right when closing a deal. It wasn't the right time for Paul so the timing was off. I told you guys weeks ago, I should be on the hiring committee. They need someone who understands Ludwig von Mises. Excellent analysis GP1.

What would prevent an assistant from getting hired now?

That might be true if we were talking about a HC from one of the teams making a move up. I just don't see that happening in our circumstances.

One of my sources says he looking for a fresh start. Unless he was somehow involved in a coverup, it would be a good choice for UA.

Bardo was not athletic. Egner is. He is not looking that athletic. That is the problem. Have you ever seen him play in person? He can jump out of the gym. He is playing out of position(Backup Center). He actually has some really nice offensive moves around the basket. Most of the shots he has taken this season have been in garbage time at the end of games.

I don't blame Winters one bit for deciding to stay put at WSU. Why in the world would he want to start over again? He has things running smoothly at WSU and if he can get similar $$$ from his current job he should stay. Who ever gets the Zips job will have to work 80-100 hrs a week for a couple years. Its a young mans job, not a mid fifties guy who has already turned around one coaches graveyard.

We were up by 37 when KD started subbing on Saturday. What you saw was 7 minutes of garbage time, guys who have very little shot of actually seeing any meaningful minutes looking to put up some stats.

At one point in the second half, Gilliam had the ball and was wide open for a three directly in front of the Zips bench. Instead of taking the shot, he threw a cross court pass that was intercepted by APB, leading to a break away layup. Dambrot screamed at the top of his lungs for Gilliam to "just take the damn shot already". Sure enough the next time Gilliam touched the ball he fired up a contested three ball, nothing but net. That put him at 7 points at that point in the game. He scored 10 more after that.

I got a reply back from ABJ Sports editor Ron Ledgard and you have nailed it hiroad1. He acknowledged the error and the plan is to increase the amount of coverage both online and in the print edition. Like I said in my other post, lets give George Thomas some time before we cast judgment.

Definitely not. I-coaches' agent approached a mutual friend of mine, who asked me to put together a list of Zips fans who would be interested in meeting I-coach. We suggested a cocktail hour meeting at a local country club that we would personally pay to host. The same agent arranged a similar event for his other client who had just accepted a new position(Brian Kelly). The agent thought it was a great idea, I-coach, not so much. After waiting weeks for an answer, we were told thanks, but no thanks. He couldn't even be bothered to give up an hour or so of his precious time to get acquainted with the loyal fans.
