When Dambrot left the Zips, I and a few others said - It's easier to win the MAC than to finish in the Top 4 in the A-10. Looks like UMass figured it out. They will be the MAC favorite when they arrive. The road to Pittsburgh or wherever else the NCAA Round 1's are held in the future just got a lot more difficult for the legacy MAC schools. If Western Kentucky comes next, look out. Who will come to a Rocket Mortgage Field House MAC final to watch UMass vs. the Hilloppers? I bet even Hilltopper wouldn't go.

Butler was in Cleveland State's conference for 20 years, through 2012. Creighton was in the Missouri Valley through 2013. They moved to the Big East. Garvin Clarke plays the five. I rest my case.

I watched Clyde Price inexplicably lay two balls on the turf to cost Zips football a couple wins two seasons ago, so I have no problem accepting an inexplicable basketball win. The Zips were overdue to catch a break! I was shocked when they gave Ali the offensive potg. Tribble eats and drinks for free wherever I go for life after draining those 2 free throws. If those were his only 2 points it was enough to give him offensive potg.

I go with the immortal Brian Wood. I remember NBA long-timer Antonio Daniels (BGSU) draining a baseline three over Wood's extended arm to send us home.

Tremendous overcoming of adversity by the Zips. I had an absolute blast tonight. Can’t wait until tomorrow night. The key to the game is - Enrique getting any help. To be fair, he did hit the rim on a couple. Great in warm ups…hit 7 of 11 against Heidelberg…but other than that it’s been a maddening season for him.

Going back a ways...Eric McLaughlin had a tremendous freshman season. I think Robotham did well in his Freshman season too.

Nice redemptive season for KD. They’ve played really well since Grant returned. Next game will be a lot tougher for them.

He leaves his feet too willingly to block shots. I think some teams are on to it. Groce also needs to spell him at the right times. Last game he had one personal foul with about 30 seconds remaining in the first half, and Groce didn't sub him out. He immediately got his second foul. And, if I recall correctly, almost got a 3rd foul (offensive) before the buzzer.

Bought my Thursday ticket using the ARIZZOMAC2024 code. $19 after taxes for the cheapest one, which is fine because I can sit anywhere I'd like. Not a bad deal to watch 4 D1 tournament basketball games. Parking voucher is available for $16 (after taxes). I got one of them too (garage on Huron). No bad for downtown parking . The UMass folks will love our affordable tournament. 🙂
