One thing that is getting lost in all of this is the assignment. I think it was a great assignment from the teacher. The poem itself, if you want to call it that, was below average. I'll give it a D. The only thing saving it from being an F is the kid actually turned in something.
Great point. The kid is certainly no Robert Frost.

To celebrate the victory over the sweaters, I will be bringing a bottle of this to the party Saturday.
Save a swig for me!

Things are CRAZY in Rittman. Dennis and sister start school in Orrville Monday due to threats. This has gotten REALLY out of hand.
I sense him enrolling in Akron in January.
Or Oberlin...Bluffton...wherever he has a scholarship offer.
-
That's really the question.
It's the question for Harney. It isn't the question for Tree.
-
Hard to believe that writing and reading a poem in high school that speaks poorly about your football coach would get you kicked off the team?
Back in my day, coaches loved such poems. The usually netted you a starting job and a Team Captain's role.
-
I was comparing Akron and Buffalo.
Got it.
-
Can we agree that listing Tree as a senior, without any reference to the likelihood that he'll be gaining a 4th year of athletic eligibility, is a tad misleading?
Not going "jupitertoo" here, George. Just making a comment.
-
Now for that history part...
We are both 1AA upstarts, joining a conference that really wasn't that thrilled to have us.
Since when was K.e.n.t a 1-AA program?
-
What is it a play on?
Back to the future?
Back to the wall?
A return to whatever we thought before we all "thought bigger"?
Think Bigger made sense. We aspired to elevate the program. Zeke was a 7-footer.
"Back to the Zips"? When did we ever leave them?
I sold the Marketing Department WAY short. As the beginning of the hoops season approaches, the campaign is building to a crescendo. Looking at the big picture, it's clever and well-organized. Interactive and fun. A more-then-worthy followup to the "Think Bigger" campaign.
If the Team backs it up with a couple early marquee wins, of which our 2013-14 schedule permits, the JAR will rock this winter.
Nice job UA Marketing.
-
Maybe writers are hedging their bets knowing that paperwork needs to be filed properly in order for that to happen.
Our compliance crew merits your comment.
-
“We have our hands full and we have to be better earlier than we’ve ever been,” Dambrot said. “Because we’ve been pretty bad early and we really have to do a good job of getting ourselves ready to play earlier.”
True true true. The "Backing the Zips" campaign won't be nearly as effective with a 3-6 start as it will be with a 7-2 start.
Sidenote: At what point is the charade that Harney and Tree are seniors end? Everyone knows they will be in a Zips BB uniform next season.

Nick Andre is a plagiarist. He makes me sick.
That poem is a complete rip-off of Derrick Tarver's epic December 2003 post regarding Bryan Hipsher.
C'mon Nick. Cite your sources.

I am not concerned about our defense.
I am not concerned with our offense moving the ball.
I am concerned with our red zone ineptitude (#104 in the nation). I think we are equally as likely to turn the ball over in the red zone as we are to score.
If we can convert on our red zone opportunities, I like our chances against just about anyone.

Thank you ZipsWin! for taking the time to post something of interest and substance. I read your post and it reminded me of the old days...Brookhart and Owens era...when ZipsNation actually exhibited some quality penmanship. The wins weren't always there, but the games were USUALLY tight. And we had a chance to win. And you could point to several pivotal moments there the outcome was decided. And ZipsNation left every game itching to break it down.
I hope the reason you were compelled to write a recap was because Zips football games might just actually be worth discussing. That the games are becoming increasingly competitive, and the team is becoming interesting to follow in-depth.
I hope the Miami game, and your post, were indeed really the first sign that winning + fun + interest are returning after the Zips nuclear winter.

Joe has done (Dunn) a very good job in a difficult situation - marketing and reporting on Zips Athletics.
I think he has a fantastic situation. Perennial NCAA tournament D-1 men's basketball program to cover. NCAA Champion men's soccer program.
He gets to cover D-1 college football. Broadcast games from The Big House, State College, Neyland Stadium, The Horseshoe....Terry Bowden is the Zips football coach.
If he were running a radio or TV show on Muskingum, I'd say he's got it tough. But he really has nothing tough with the Zips. Lob some softballs to the Zips coaches once a week...tell everyone Bickley was a yard deep in the endzone before he fumbled...then call it a day.
I don't think he does any Marketing for UA?
I will give you this - It had to be supremely difficult to tell Rob Ianello "The kids certainly aren't quitting" and "Rob, I think good times are just around the corner," without laughing in the guy's face. That takes a real pro.
No doubt about it.
-
Will the A-logo helmet in front of the show tables finally be switched to the "Z-logo" zipper helmet?
We'll find out tonight....
-
is pretty sweet. Gave me goosebumps. It's Terry Bowden in the locker room after the Miami win.
I remember walking out of the Rubber Bowl after Roethisberger beat us, and hearing the Miami team belting out their fight song from the visitor locker room. Nice to get a tiny bit of revenge roughly a decade later.
-
Well since I don't have a recorder in my car... I'm sure he will be glad to tell you what he said if you contact him.
If you hear something on a public radio show, begin a thread to discuss it, then refuse to discuss what was said, you are less than worthless.
Glad Steve and Joe still enjoy our site after all these years.
-
Can GP1 inform us of the Wake Forest fan base's general mood following this crushing defeat?
-
I've never predicted a Zips win. But if Hirschman plays Saturday we win by at least 14.
And somewhere in southwest Ohio, Zipmeister is filing a copyright infringement lawsuit...
-
I think this list is supremely important. Probably the single most important list of all lists listed. If at least 5 Zips listed on the 2013-14 roster are not listed on this list, I will enlist Alton Lister to re-enlist his crisp lisp with Listerine.

@ the Rubber Bowl Urinals
I wonder how many hundreds of gallons of processed beer I passed through you over my lifetime?
