Keener posting at 3:03am on Opening Day in the beer thread? Can anyone envision his living room by 11pm tonight?
-
I heard that Pohl, Chisholm, and Terry Bowden all have the flu.
Shocking that such a post would come from you?

Two Ohio University football players arrested
Didn't know where to put this, and didn't want to start a thread just for this. Hopefully putting it in the "MAC" schedule topic makes it relevant, since OU is in the MAC, and we play them every year.
I wonder if jupitertoo will complain that GT doesn't give this story proper coverage in the ABJ?
-
LaSala pointed out that just because an early enrollee takes part in spring drills doesn’t rule out the possibility of him redshirting as a freshman.
Barring injury to Pohl, it seems the smart move would be to redshirt in 2014, get some reps in 2015, and hold the starting job for the next 3 seasons.
Makes me wonder what will happen with Woodson. I guess we'll know a lot more once this season is complete. A billion different things can happen between now and 2014.

Anyone wonder where all that weight Bowden lost ended up?

Orlando Sentinel article on "Depth Chart Gate"
I look forward to the Zips victory lead by CJ Mizell's 14 tackles... and O'Leary's post game presser where he complains if CJ was on the 2-deep he'd have game-planned completely different.
-
Lots of seniors on the 2 deep. That doesn't bode well for the future. I understand why, but damn.
F the future. Isn't everyone tired of the future...don't people want to win football games today?
I've never heard a fan complain that his team had too many seniors.
Maybe GP1 did...I know he's a big fan of "building" over "winning." And there's no better way to solidify the building process than to play Freshmen and Sophomores.
;)

That is odd, what happened to our Aussie punter? And our primary PR is listed as Imani Davis 6-0, 282!?!
I'm guessing Bowden doesn't want to carry 2 punters on scholarship, so the Aussie will need to fund himself this season.
-
Good for Nick Rossi! You have to admire guys who have worked hard to compete against the newcomers
I don't know what is a bigger shocker...Rossi starting at middle linebacker over Rachel...or Tyrell Goodman being our back up punter?
I wonder if McNamara will eventually work his way into the #1 spot? If not, it bodes well for our line depth.

InfoCision cost a fraction of what most BCS stadium press box upgrades cost. $65 million is chump change in D1 football.
The worst miscalculation of the past 10 years was hiring Rob Ianello. If Bowden were hired 4 years ago, there would be no stadium conversations...except for the few clowns wondering what it would take to expand the stadium in order to keep him.

Maybe McCray, Nico, Cody and company can make 1st start a troublesome one
Grant (6-2, 285)?
Is this weight stat simply more wacky George O'Leary gamesmanship?
How big are their DL's? 6'10", 410?

I was looking at the roster this morning and not including JC transfers this team has amassed 11 transfers going into this year:
Jeff Allen -- Coastal Carolina - DL
Nordly Capi -- Colorado State -- DL
Zenel Demhasaj - OL - Pittsburgh
Nick Hirschman - Colorado - QB
CJ James -- Colorado State - DL
Jerome Lewis - Virginia Tech - TE
Moses McCray - Florida State - DL
CJ Mizell - Washington State - LB (he's listed as a only a junior after all his bouncing around?)
Henry Orelus - Florida State - OL
Drew Phillips -- BYU - WR
Se'von Pittman - OSU - DL
Add Joe McNamara - Wisconsin OL (Jr.)

I believe it's based on total Z-Fund donation level across all sports.
What is that level?

What makes one eligible to enter? Cost of Membership?
Ask UA.

Ah, but they've started an official look-a-like thread.
I enjoy any look-alike thread that doesn't include a "Webster," "Arnold Drummond" or a "Predator" pic. If you ever think to post those in such a thread...just don't.
The Caponi/Chumlee one is my favorite.
-
When do you suppose we might see one of these for the Zips?
I say - "Keep 'em guessing!"
-
So many new faces...so many new, key guys without even a spring practice to learn the system...it will be tough to legitimately expect much from Game #1.
But talent-wise we are several notches above last season. If the OL can do a serviceable job, we have a puncher's chance to pull it off.
D-line will be solid and deep. LB might be our biggest strength. And I like our corners. Defensively I don't have many concerns.
Offensively...QB and WR are fine. Chisholm should be good for 100+ yards rushing in game one. But how soon can the 5th/6th year transfers gel on the OL? To me, that's the biggest question mark. Give Pohl time, and he'll deliver the goods.
Kyle Pohl is The Truth.

So they posted a photo of the JAR lobby being partially renovated. Mentioned new lights.
This is what we call "putting lipstick on a pig." With the thousands of things wrong with the JAR, lighting in the lobby never seemed like the most important.
If you only have $60, and you land on Baltic Ave., you buy it.
-
Maybe we should call them the Bash Brothers.
I'm dying to know how you'd promote Quincy Diggs this upcoming season.
-
Amazing there are still 7 kids on the team that were recruited by Brookhart?
Ritossa, Diorazio, Dillard, Alexander, Lio, Sconiers and Frieson.

Some images from the Zips intro shoot yesterday...found here. Will be fun to see the final product.
Good to see Brian Wagner back with the team.

"Exciting" is not a term I would used to describe the Coleman Crawford era. That said, I saw Alberts several times, and he was a heck of a shooter. Roy Coleman could play, too.
As Huggins players gradually departed, Crawford's teams eroded. It was a horrific era in Zips Basketball history.
-
I expected to see more of the incoming transfer OL's atop this early depth chart? I wonder if this will change over the next 10 days?
Also - odd not to hear Drew Phillips mentioned in the Bowden video as one of the potential return men. I have to believe they give him a shot at the job?

Every George Thomas blog post has at least one typo/grammatical error. He seems to feel mistakes are OK as long as he is typing fast. John S. Knight would not agree.
He clearly doesn't like being called out on his accuracy issues. Not a good business to be in if you have such thin skin. Anyone who calls him out via Twitter immediate gets blocked. He's pissy.
George, how about proofing your own copy once or twice before submitting it?
If you want to complain about the guy's work, do it off the board. PM him. I'm sure he'll respond.
If you do it here, it just looks like you're grandstanding. Which you are.

I hope they all start on the offensive line.
