  1. You are corrrect. It would be interesting to see him come to UA on the rebound, so-to-speak.
  2. Well he's fine as a Zips fan, but I would rather he was my doctor. At every visit I know he would tell me I was in perfect health and was going to live forever. He has endless enthusiasm...you have endless sarcasm. You two are really more alike than you'd want to admit.
  3. May there be no mice in your beer, DK.
  4. One positive I found: Zip Mart was a convenient place to get botulism spores for Biology lab projects.
  5. I wish more people around here had d1real's enthusiasm. The football board would be more fun.
  6. Hammy Issue Looking forward to him getting off the track and field training and on to pads and football.
  7. More interesting to note - We have lost to 5 of those teams, a combined 9 times, within the past 4 seasons: Austin Peay (once), VCU (three times), Dayton (twice), Nevada (twice), UIC (once) We need to do a better job of beating those opponents where the public seems to have a heightened interest in the result.
  8. The big question, to me, remains: "What did UA do to draw 5k?" What new ideas were implemented to increase attendance? Buehler...Buehler? Until UA tries something different to get butts in the seats, I really can't fret over attendance...if they aren't fretting, why should I? The local fan base has proven that they'll show up in 3k numbers if nothing changes. If nothing changes next season, look for 3k again. It isn't rocket science. There has been a lot of finger-pointing regarding the Zips attendance...and a lot of head scratching and shoulder shrugging...but no one is doing anything to solve the problem. UA tried to pack the house for one game this season - K.e.n.t. Guess what? They packed the house. Obviously, it can be done.
  9. Mr. Football's & Mr. Basketball's with his attitude always seem to drop off the face of the earth. I predict he finishes his "career" at Tiffin.
  10. Hooters girls are surprisingly well-schooled on economics. These girls were on Face the Nation discussing the Greek economic crisis last Sunday. First time I ever watched that show in it's entirety.
  11. Dispatch Column For those of you that didn't have sufficient incentive to root against Ohio State...here's a gift for you. But honestly...after reading Howard's comments...Tressel can have him.
  12. Not really. Moderators are ordinary posters...but with the added burden...I mean benefit of trying to keep relative order and letting people have their say. Nothing more. You should not try to follow anyone's model. As human beings, we have free will. Exercise it. If we all thought alike there would be no discussion. Just a bunch of "+1's."
  13. Comedy isn't the message...it's all in the delivery.
  14. He also would make a poor center or power forward...because he's limited?
  15. Most accurate summary of the McNees situation. Thank you.
  16. He was THIRTEENTH on the Zips in total tackles as a JUNIOR. He had THREE sacks for the entire 2009 season...which upped his career sack total (three combined seasons) to...FOUR. Unless his last name is actually Conyers, there was little-to-no chance that he'd have made any impact in 2010. Buena Suerte en New Mexico.
  17. If that were a universal truth, why would any AD hire such a coach? Sincerely, Urban Meyer
  18. I think you're mostly right. However - JD's recruiting didn't fall apart over his tenure. It actually improved. JD wanted to win quick, and cash in big-time. So took your advice and took a bunch of at-risk athletes (not student athletes). It was a valid theory at the time because the league's best programs were built on non-qualifiers, JUCO's and troubled talent (see early 2000's Toledo & NIU). Unfortunately for him, and Zips fans, all JD's athletes flunked out. He subsequently righted the ship and recruited a better caliber of student athlete. But you can't undo the damage of back-to-back horrific recruiting classes in a single season or two. Not in football. JD reaped what he sewed, and got canned last season. The clock expired. But iCoach will benefit. Kinda like Mack Rhoades benefited from Mike Thomas' work. If iCoach is any good, he'll start winning fairly soon. If he's good enough to leave after 3 seasons...we'll have a pretty magical 3 seasons of Zips football to remember. That's 3X more than the last 25 years combined...so I'd be pretty grateful.
  19. I'm simply happy K.e.n.t. State basketball will see Justice served at least twice per season. Too bad Singletary is gone...
  20. Hunter Interview @ CCU
  21. ...so will Howard be a Zip or not?
  22. That reminds me of a line from Caddyshack: Upon Ted knight saying "...I mean, he's been club champion for three years running, and I'm no slouch myself," Chevy Chase replies: "Don't sell yourself short, judge. You're a tremendous slouch." YSU basketball has won absolutely nothing in the past 30 years. Looking at the Beeghly Center rafters during the Zips/Penguins game two seasons ago...well...let's just say the Zips Women's basketball history over the past 30 years puts the YSU men's program to shame. Don't sell YSU men's basketball short, D.I.G, they're a TREMENDOUS slouch. CSU men's basketball is on a whole different level than YSU. Renewal of the Zips/CSU rivalry is HUGE for local hoops fans. It is a guaranteed 4k attendance game at the JAR, and could be a sell-out if CSU starts the season hot. As a NE Ohio hoops fan, I can't wait to see Dambrot vs. Waters @ the JAR.
  23. Bowser got invited to the Arizona Cardinals rookie camp. Cool. Andre Jones is now on the clock....
