Back-to-back losses to BG and Ball State drop the Bulls from the #1 slot they've held since early January. It was a nice run by Reggie and Co., but they are reeling.#4 - Miami (15-9)Previous Rank - #4Redhawks are 2-2 in their last 4 games, including a 9-point loss to the Zips in Akron. You can only ride Bramos and "The Not-So-Gifted" Politz for so long. They're still tied for the MAC West lead at 6-6 (with WMU) and they did beat fading Buffalo. They also lost to 5-21 Toledo.#8 WMU (9-16)Previous Rank #82-2 in their last 4 games, which in the MAC West conjures up realistic visions of a #2 overall seed in Cleveland. They were crushed by Miami, but put the wood to OU and held EMU to 38 points in a 46-38 win last night. #8 – OU (13-12)Previous Rank #7Drubbed by K.e.n.t. and WMU, the BongCats appear to be intent on wasting Jerome Tillman's senior season. OU apologists will point to youth as the issue, but it is more than that. These guys are underachieving BIGTIME. But don't let the Zips win fool you...these guys are horrible. They just have the Zips "number" for whatever bizarre reason. Coach Doug Martin announced the hiring of two new coaches - Coach Harris (shown left) will apparently take over the reigns as QB coach and passing coordinator, while Coach Montgomery (right) is expected to be named Offensive Coordinator.Said Martin: " This is by no means a response to the recent hirings at Akron. We've been in negotiations with Coach Harris and Montgomery for some time now. we are delighted to have them on our staff, and...what the hell...could they be any worse that what I've had to work with for the past 5 years?

I'm pretty puzzled at the instant speculation that JD is gone after a successful 2009 season.IF he is successful in 2009, he would likely be offered a nice extension by UA. He won't be a super-hot commodity in 2009. If he could go back-to-back, then you'd hear his name being bandied about in 2010 for whatever openings might exist.I predict after 2009 JD has a packed stadium, a solid team, a top-level MAC salary and a contract extension.If JD wanted to leave, he would have and could have done so this year. I believe he's pumped about the new stadium and wants to enjoy the fruits of his labor, rebuilding from the recruiting disasters of 3-4 years ago.If JD did decide to leave on his own volition, sure...Harris could become our "Frank Solich." For the moment, I'm very happy that this UA staff seems to be shaping up to be a really solid group of D-1 guys. If Harris does join up, even for 1 season, no other staff in the MAC could come close.Like Coach Ferri stated on signing day - "President Proenza doesn't want to be second in anything." It would appear he's given JD all the backing he can to storm the MAC in 2009. It is now time for JD to produce.

Harris looks to be the QB coach. Montgomery the OC. That's the way I see it.

Oh I'm in total agreement on that aspect. I'm just curious how much it cost to get them here.I haven't looked at his Stanford contract, but I would guess he's still drawing a nice salary from the Cardinals? The Zips might be able to get him at a reasonable rate. I think he still lives in the Pittsburgh area, so if he had the itch to get back into coaching, UA would be a logical choice to do so. I'm sure Nicely would be happy.
