I think the MAC should eschew all but one conference game per year, each team's "Rivalry" game, for three years. MAC schools should play BCS schools on the road for 11 games. Say you average $650,000 per game...that's 7.15million dollars per MAC school, plus the guaranteed sell out of the rivalry game. Three years of that and everyone's football budget is covered for the next decade. Lots of TV exposure....revenue...how can you go wrong?The MAC coaches would select which teams should play in the MAC championship. Probably 3-9 Western Michigan vs. 4-8 Akron?

I've been mulling over the Zips improbable road win against OU, searching for the key to how we pulled off an 80 point performance, shooting 60% from the field in a win against the MAC's best defensive team…a team with a 12-game home winning streak. If you dish out the smack, you need to be able to take it too. Dials is subjected to some really harsh stuff stuff from opponent's student sections. Stuff WAY worse than making an "O" with your hands. To OU Fans' credit, no one bitched about Dials' post-game moves. It is all part of the game.To give you an idea regarding what the Zips are subjected to in Oxford, click on this thread from Bobcatattack.com. Scroll all the way to the bottom. When you see stuff like that in the stands, you sometimes feel the urge to make an "O" at game's end. If you dish out the smack, you need to be able to take it too.

The Z-Fund is sponsoring an afternoon of food, fun and fellowship at the Coaches Luncheon this Thursday, March 6th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Spaghetti Warehouse. The luncheon will feature Men’s Basketball Head Coach Keith Dambrot, New Women’s Soccer Head Coach Chris Pfau, and New Volleyball Head Coach Ron Arenz. I hear the last luncheon was near sell-out, so I'd recommend making a reservation soon!

Per my original post on Nik's commitment the Zips were originally recruiting a VES kid named Brian Irwin (name spelling may be wrong) who ended up committing to Temple in 2007 (not this year). Jeff Boals mentioned Irwin's Temple commitment on one of Joe Dunn's radio shows a couple months ago.

Why get out of the MAC? We win the league and get an automatic bid every 4 out of 5 years. We can schedule a home/home series with just about any BCS school. Be to MAC soccer what Memphis is to C-USA basketball, and enjoy it.

I thought the "Patriot" Bowl was supposed to be MAC schools against one of the service academies. Hence we played Army last year.EDITED -- Nevermind, I just saw the note in the article. It's still stupid.The New England Patriots are in Massachusetts, as is Boston College. So I'll still call it the Patriot Bowl.

I know his team played in some very tough, high-level tournaments to begin the season. And the guy the Zips were originally recruiting from VES (Nik wasn't our original target) signed at Temple. So VES is not exactly CVCA. It is a pretty high-level program.

The #23 team in the nation came to BG today...they drew a whopping 1,400. I say 5,000 is too ambitious. They should start at 2,500 and see how that goes.

For those who might get the shaft by the NIT...A 2007 field that would have included Connecticut, Louisiana State, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, Washington, Akron and Saint Louis, amongst others, would have been fun to watch.Hopefully we don't have to worry about it, but could be a decent boobie prize should we get snubbed in '08.

You're insane. VCU would be an upper-tier MAC program, easily Top 3. Buffalo, NIU, Toledo, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, BG, CMU, Miami...they would all swap rosters with VCU in a heartbeat. O'Shea would too, although his talent is probably better.

I ain't no compliance expert...but I recall hearing about all the North Carolina alumns practicing with the Tar Heels every so often, and I know John Stockton still runs with the Zags on occasion, so I think it is ok?Maybe it is only for summer practices, but I think it is anytime?

I'm sure it is a dream-come-true for him to play in Detroit. Hopefully it works out for him.

My son is in a 1st/2nd grade basketball league. We play games on Saturday, and have clinics on Wednesdays. Travis was a "guest instructor" at his clinic last Wednesday. He works really well with the little kids...he's a lot more personable than you'd think. I could easily see him coaching one day.

That is a solid post. Somewhere between the program supporters who think KD has never made an objectionable move in his career, and who think expecting something beyond 20 wins is flat-out being spoiled....and those "fans" who are chugging Drain-o because we're "only" 19-8 at the end of February, with a schedule that in no way shape or form compares to K.e.n.t., even though with the exception of one game vs. UNC is EXACTLY the same schedule as K.e.n.t...lies where we're at today -- We'll likely be 22-9 going into the MAC tourney as the #3 seed, coming off a win over a Top 25 K.e.n.t. team. We're as healthy as we'll ever be. And as hoopla stated above, we'll go as far as Ced, Dials and Wood take us. Which SHOULD be a finals berth...and that I EXPECT with be a finals berth...the same results of which all UA fans should expect from this team (spoiled brats that we are).

Unless you meant "NIU" your board credibility took a real hit with that statement. I'm a MAC fan. I've seen much worse. Did the refs make us shoot 28%? No. Can you please list the "disturbing" moves? Other than keeping Dials on the floor a little too long, he coached a good game. He can't put the ball in the hoop. At some point the players on the court need to make plays, and that didn't happen frequently enough last Saturday.Put down your Drain-o, put down the poison Kool Aid, and relax for a week.

I felt so SPOILED after the MAC Tourney and NIT snub last year. ALMOST as spoiled as when we lost to Toledo the previous year, blowing a 10 point lead with 5 minutes remaining. I feel so SPOILED when I look at those poor souls over in K.e.n.t. playing in post-season tourneys, winning marquee games, while I sit at home counting my "what if's."KD commonly uses the "Zips fans are spoiled" phrase when he talks about the slow-to-grow JAR crowds. But it is wholly inaccurate.Give Zips fans some respect. They want to win something of consequence. Winning 20 games in the MAC, with our soft non-conference schedule, is a good accomplishment. But, stand-alone, it is simply marginal. Until we stop choking in the tourney, until we start winning some decent OOC games, please spare me the "spoiled" term. "Tortured?" Maybe that hits closer to home.
