I'm taking back my predicition that JD is gone. Unless the University can come up with over $1 million before they even hire a new staff, JD stays. Also, if JD leaves, Nicely and probably Wagner leave too. They will tell the public that JD deserves one last shot due to injuries and the CJ11 situation.

Well, when people at the University believe building buildings is the only thing you need to be successful, you get disappointed in the results. Building things is not enough. I just hope the new AD doesn't whore out the football program like Miami's AD does to support the remainder of the athletic department. If that happens, we will have one 4-8 or 3-9 season after another.Wasted investment in football? Not really. They needed a new stadium anyhow.White elephant? Yes and no. I don't think MAC sports will ever pay for themselves. All the school will do is get the money from the state to support the stadium. The school needs to stop building high end arena for sports NOW. One more for soccer and that is enough until they prove they can support them.My big question is this. Is the University REALLY willing to get a little dirty to win football games? Another question would be....What are the fans willing to do to win? Are the fans willing to get a little dirty as well?money talks and bullsh*t walks. this athletic program is headed on a rocket sled for financial disaster. look for dirt all over the place very soon.

Forgive me if it's been mentioned before on here, but did anyone notice that the K.E.N.T and Indiana ticket prices are $5 higher than the other games as is the BB game vs. K.E.N.T in March? Is this something other schools do?

And there is no way that assistant coach would've been forced out for a secondary violation that happens all the time at other schools, if they weren't going to force JD out. JD is gone. I don't always agree with JD but i damn sure appreciate his commitment and loyalty even though a portion of it will cost him his job.

JD will be gone at the end of the year, I'm sure his fate was decided weeks ago and it is definately the right decision. Let's not beat a dead horse. All i know is the guy is totally dedicated to Akron, and his staff and players. Unfortunately his best quality is also his biggest weakness. He could've left Akron and been coaching in the NFL a few years ago making 2-3 times what he makes now and that is a fact, not an opinion. We can all sit here and bash him to death and much of the criticism is deserved, but guys so loyal to a school that have absolutely no ties it are very rare. I hate the spread and the 3-3-5 and that shitty rugby punt but i can at least appreciate guys like JD and Reno that could be making a helluva a lot more money doing something else, wanting to be at Akron.

The only differnce I've seen on the field this year is the uniforms. You can take the team out of the Rubber Bowl, but you can't take the Rubber Bowl out of the team. Yawn. I'm still a die-hard though, and will continue to subject myself to being a Zip fan.

Is it possible that the slow start we have witnessed by the O-line is directly related to an "easier" summer camp? If so, I would think this can be rectified in practice. i'm more of an old school uni guy. but damn, the zips did look great in the new all blue uniforms with "akron" in the front of the jerseys.

considering that this is the first time the u has had 28,000 people on campus, in the same place, they did an incredible job. i didn't see anything worth bitching about on the first day. everything went beyond expectations. i've never been more proud to be a zip or an akron football fan.
