  1. The difference is that IU and UK have won many national championships and always make deep post-season runs AND they have traditionally been poor in football. Meanwhile, an Ohio school has not won a national championship in 60+ years and Ohio State sucks up all the interest for dominant football. Cleveland State, Can't, and Ohio all garnered national attention when they made NCAAT runs. Apathy is expected when we lose every major OOC game and post-season game outside of the MAC. To Joe Akron, we are a good team in a terrible conference, and that is supported every time we play external to the MAC. KD always said that all that mattered was winning the MAC. I think he had it completely backwards. Win outside the MAC, then people will start to care.
  2. Exactly what I was thinking. Not that we should have beaten Purdue, but two of the other four losses should have been wins. It's the same story every year too, ever since KD...lose every important OOC game against respectable competition, compete hard to win the MAC/C, then get smoked in whatever post-season tournament we make. If athletics is about feeling and looking good for the sake of the university's brand/image, why not just schedule a complete slate of cupcakes and get a national ranking like the fraudster sweaters? They have to get up for five games per season and are doing it for that reason alone. They sleep walk through the rest of their schedule.
  3. I did not. I don't bet. Crow tastes good when we still win though.
  4. Zips will get out of the gate hot tonight, and the game will not be close five minutes from the start to finish. The good guys win by 20+.
  5. The defense was good, but the rebounding was awful. If Can't could have knocked down open shots, it would have been much closer.
  6. By far the worst product in all of sports entertainment. I've not seen much of it in over ten years. When I come across a game while flipping channels, I wish I had spent the few minutes spacing out to commercials or watching a tidbit of a movie I've already seen 500x.
  7. Can't State ALWAYS sucks. It is often said that athletics are the front porch of a university. It is fitting that the thugs of this program represent a corn field college with fashion and "financial engineering" (I mean, wtf kind of fraudulent program is that?) as among their most notable programs. Prediction: 95-78 Zips. Piggy gets T'd up twice because his players lack the desire and composure to compete with a superior, athletic, and well-coached team. This begins a rough patch in the schedule as Cant's luck begins to run out in several subsequent close games.
  8. Aren't there at least three days per year for that (one for football and at least two for basketball)?
  9. I'm happy to have our luck rationed for the MACC and the NCAAT.
  10. Even with bad defense, there is no way Toledo stays this hot for the entire second half. When they cool off (and maybe when we start playing good defense), they will panic and get desperate.
  11. The Zips sound good from my basement bunker in Baltimore.
  12. Time to start a big game week off right! LFG!!!
  13. On the radar it looks like a quick passing squall line.
  14. As others have said, this is a trap game against an opponent we do not usually fare well against. Still, we are at home against a MAC opponent with inferior talent into the mature part of our schedule. Zips win, 90-80, pulling away at the end.
  15. It is amazing how poor our all-time (42-33 UT leads) and recent records are against Toledo despite our being the dominant program in the conference. It is equally amazing how UT has had good programs and dominated us through history yet has not appeared in the NCAA Tournament since 1980. Baffling! Just when I start feeling sorry for the UT fans in the context of basketball, I realize there is a football side of the coin, and the pity disappears quickly.
  16. Even if the rich get richer, I think it's good for us in general because it is another potential revenue source. Any opportunity to push us from the red more towards the black is great.
  17. So we lost to #'s 4 and 25 on the road, and the latter was close and we should have won.
  18. If we play the full 40 minutes, we win. If not, we lose. It's really that simple against teams that have lesser but still moderate talent, especially when playing in Canada.
  19. We could easily (and should) drop the non-D1 games we seem to play every year. They are a complete waste of time, and it's embarrassing that we count them in our win-loss total when they are not fair competition. I wanted to attend a Zips game when I was in the Akron area for the holidays, but the only game scheduled was against Concord, which is a total waste of time. I didn't even bother to listen on the radio/internet.
  20. And how sad is it that we didn't win that game on a short FG that literally I could make?!
  21. Coach just said on the pregame show that Sharron is out today.
  22. He's right that those schools do fit the profile well. However, given the state of politics, I think Senators should focus on things other than the athletic alignment of their alma maters. I'm sure if there was mutual interest, these schools would have already joined the Big East.
  23. Effort is fixable though, talent is not.
