With WVU at #23 and us having the lead at the time, it is a shame that game didn't get to play out to conclusion. That could have been a really nice road victory. And with Army and Butler both sitting at 150+, those ties feel like losses, especially given that both were at home.

And because of Western getting smoked by Boise State, their outcome against Michigan will likely not have any national significance, granted it's still unjust and a major missed opportunity for Western.

And yet if they had lost even one of those games, interest would have disappeared like a fart in the wind.

That might be true in games with equal midfield control, but against teams like Army and Butler, there is no need for a fourth defender at the expense of not having an additional attacker. I'd rather us try to push for a win and risk a counter attack loss than continue with the status quo in hopes of scoring.

What have we been playing? Perhaps if our defense is so solid, then a 3-5-2 might create more scoring opportunities with an additional attacker?

I watched a good amount of UMass's first game against Rutgers. UMass was dominant to the extent that I chalked up their game versus us as a loss. They are legit. It seems they made the coaching hire that we've been seeking for 25+ years.

I initially started to write that Wake Forest is on our schedule too but then realized all these matches featured one opponent that is/was. The bold text is confusing.

Next Friday we find out who this team really is.

Central Michigan had a nice win at home over Wyoming. And of all the MAC teams playing B1G teams, we were the only to surrender less than 54. Makes 41-7 look decent, but we were better than that.

I did too. Best season in D-1A ever in terms of wins and our only bowl victory under him. I considered mentioning this but didn't want to stir up any more controversy.

Accountability and discipline. You don't see these things happen with excellent coaches, regardless of the talent level. It is accepted as normal at Akron because we've only ever had bad to mediocre coaches for the past 20+ years.

We didn't get beat that badly by better talent. Big mistakes were the difference between this game being competitive versus not. That's coaching.

Fwiw, I was having the same thought at that moment.

It is my understanding that UA does not collect more revenue from out-of-state students. It's just that out-of-state students have to pay what would otherwise be subsidized by the state for in-state students. That is, the revenue per student is the same, regardless of their state of origin.

Now move the game from Thursday to Tuesday night and add a much earlier sunset, much colder temperatures, and stronger potential for bad weather, and that's the attendance handicap created by MACtion. Also, tonight's contest between Pitt and Syracuse is a bit of a Haley's comet moment in terms of its rarity...it is a game of P4/5 teams that have both been defeated by the Zips! 🤘💪

Nebraska was added in 2011 as it was being kicked out of the AAU, making it the only Big Ten member to not also be an AAU member. It was very poor decision-making all around for the conference. I think UCLA, Oregon, and Washington were must haves for the Big Ten because it gives the conference the entire west coast, except for the SF market (and Stanford and Cal are not big basketball or football schools). Agree to disagree about the Pitt versus Penn State addition if it were to happen now.

Solid win! This team seems to be really well balanced. There don't seem to be any true stars, yet everyone contributes at a championship level.

The B1G was focused on capturing the biggest schools in the largest media markets, not shopping for great programs in the middle of nowhere like the SEC mostly has. It would have been nice to have this level of advocacy from the conference with MSOC vs. NW'ern in the NCAAT ~20 years ago, MBBALL vs. UCLA in the NCAAT, and FOOTBALL at Michigan in 2014. I think what the MAC member schools see is that WMU has a strong potential to otherwise go 13-0 and be the playoff seed for the lower level schools. If this loss stands, the MAC's best opportunity for that slot diminishes greatly, and each member school potentially loses out on hundreds of thousands of dollars of additional revenue.

I am watching on the BTN, and they just gave a shout to Caleb Porter's Zips and death by a thousand passes when talking about excellent collegiate soccer. If there is a replay and someone wants to hear it, it happened around 30' left in the second half. Maryland beats Georgetown 3-2. Maryland is excellent.

We were down to the goal line for a win at Michigan about 10 years ago. Given the weekend events, that situation looks impossible, even if we did actually stick it in for 7.

They must have made a cocktail with fermented Buck Nuts. Don't worry, OSU will get snapped back into reality when they play @Kentucky, Washington, @UCLA, Indiana, and @Maryland. They are lucky they aren't playing the Zips this year.
