  1. Can we get this defense all season, please?!
  2. I came here to say the exact thing, but "at Akron" was ambiguous because it was not mentioned in the context of the university or when he was in college, so it just as easily could have been understood as the Akron Aeros. Also, I wouldn't say it was a bad outing. He allowed one run and had a walk and two hits. In the greater context, he was bound to have an appearance that was similar to that. It could have been MUCH worse given that the bases were loaded. It's a shame though that the Blue Jays lost, especially in the manner that they did. In the 9th I thought we were going to possibly have our first Zips World Series Champion.
  3. I would amend this to say that recruiting rankings only exist to stimulate interest in the off season and to suck a few more dollars out of the few fans who live and die with college football and have lesser or no interest in college basketball or professional spring and summer sports.
  4. And programs that are not traditional powers but have managed to do some building despite NIL, such as Indiana, will be more short-lived now more than ever, unless they have a Phil Knight on speed dial to retain talent and team chemistry.
  5. Brian Kelly of LSU was added to the bin of discarded Power 4 coaches. It's astounding how short-sighted and toxic these unreasonable demands of proven, quality coaches from administrators and powerful alumni are. LSU lost to an undefeated #3 team in the country and are/were in the Top 25 themselves, yet he gets canned mid-season. There is no such thing as program building anymore. Thanks, NIL.
  6. Already regretting I turned this back on with a shred of optimism.
  7. The heavy rain should be arriving shortly after this injury timeout.
  8. I'm listening to it from Baltimore on IHeart Radio but have heard all commercials for the Akron area. Are you in Columbus?
  9. It's more enjoyable to listen to. I multi-task, so when we are playing like crap like this, it's just white noise in the background. Lots of house projects and chores have gotten done at my place under these conditions over the years.
  10. Heavy rain in the second half could really force changes in offensive strategy. I don't know who that favors, if anyone, but it will be interesting to see how the coaches respond (or not).
  11. This tie feels like a loss, especially after the baseless VAR reversal to a tying goal for Seton Hill. Again, we have more shots, shots on goal, and corners but do not get the W. Very frustrating. Hopefully the team forgets it and moves on. If we win out and at least get to the Big East final, we should have a top 16 seed and a first round bye for the NCAAT. At Creighton is gonna be a tough match.
  12. I'll take the visitors by a score of 31-28. When was the last time we won a road game that wasn't at Cant or UMess?
  13. And just like that, in the lead at 2-1 after another ten minutes.
  14. Wow, down 1-0 after dominating the first 15 minutes. That hurts. DePaul can sit in and defend.
  15. We are making progress. We are losing small. The alternative is paying nearly $1M to start over, likely with the additional cost of losing big for a few years. Been there, done that. Like I said, Joe's fire in the post-game interview was encouraging. He's holding himself accountable, and he has the guys on the field playing hard. The mistakes are still there, but they are progressively decreasing. A 6-6 season is realistic. I think nearly all of us would have taken that before the season started.
  16. An overall respectable performance. It could always be better, but it was more of a game than I expected. Plenty of mistakes, but it's getting better. Joe's frustration and calling his team's performance out as "pissing it away" was encouraging too. If the team had only been playing this way versus Wyoming and UAB, but alas...
  17. Similar to St. Johns, we've never defeated Cornell. We've lost 3-2 in OT both times we have played them, both at home. That feels ominous, but I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised. Go Zips!
  18. Well said! Precisely why I can't stand OSU and their fans. I have more respect and appreciation for those from Can't. Barely, but still...
