  1. The BTN in Maryland is showing Minnesota versus Northwestern.
  2. I didn't get to watch, but sounds like a game we earned the W, based on shots and corners and all the comments here. It's a good sign that we are dominating a Top 10 team in such a fashion. Could a second star be on the horizon?!
  3. What's really discouraging is that I flipped over to the Colorado - Colorado State game after we allowed UK to beat us, and the difference in speed, pursuit, aggressiveness, physicality, general skill, and offensive sophistication is on a whole different level, and it's glaringly obvious, even on tv. If Colorado - Colorado State is D1, UK was playing D2, and we were at what might be expected for low D2 or D3. Both of these teams would smoke UK and make us look like we don't even belong on the same field. As an example, the velocity and accuracy of the passes in this game are closer to NFL quality than they are to what I observed in UK-Akron. Unbelievable that there appears to be this much of a gap!
  4. It's soccer season, and we're legit National Championship contenders.
  5. What I wouldn't give to watch a Brookhart or Bowden team right now.
  6. I played soccer in high school and continue to do so as a 40-something year old. I have no doubt I could go out and consistently hit 38 yard field goals with a football and a holder and snapper, and that's not exaggeration. An average high school kicker should be able to do this. How does a D-1 program not have an above average high school kicker?
  7. Correction, we can't even score from the 20 yard line with a chip shot FG. Unreal!
  8. Hard to call plays when your QB can't throw down field more than 10 yards with any accuracy. Hard to run when all you can call are screen passes and short out routes. Hard to score points when your kicker has limited range. So basically, we have to get into the Red Zone to get any points, but we have no way to get there. I'm actually amazed UK hasn't been blitzing on every play.
  9. Was it just me or were three of our defenders waiting for one of the others to try to make the tackle on that 55 yard run? This UK team is not good. I will be shocked if they win more than five games this year.
  10. I've been thinking the same thing. With discipline and execution, we may have the lead.
  11. I went from thinking the QB would fumble and we would get a defensive touchdown from an impossibly improbable touchdown being scored on us. Why do I watch?
  12. You've got to be kidding me!!! Can we not wrap up the QB? Game over.
  13. What a costly penalty! Ouch. Can we get any momentum going?
  14. This UK team is the most beatable SEC team we'll ever see. There is an opportunity here.
  15. Nice coverage on ESPNU about the TD/turnover tire and some respect given to our D.
  16. Rifle, but you won't see too many spectators there.
  17. Did the better team win though? I didn't watch the game, but Akron led in corners (7-3) and shots (19-10 with two of Pitt's coming on PK's), which are usually good indicators of the run of play. Part of what made Porter such a good coach was his emphasis on discipline and that the players and team dictated the game through possession and a concerted focus on winning. Nothing ever interfered with those goals. Can you imagine a Porter team getting drubbed in the MACC and Sweet 16? Simple scouting by Pitt of the MACC probably showed that they could mentally dominate our team (players and coaches), and this proved to be an excellent strategy. I hope Embick can reflect on this in the offseason and return the program to form next season.
  18. Tennessee won though...at home against arguably the best college team in America. Their fans will go home happy.
  19. Lots of respect from the announcers during today's game about how well the Zips played the other night. I believe in this coach and team. We have arrived. Gone are the days of just hoping to win the MACC then getting blown out in the NCAAT.
  20. Having beaten any one of Fordham, Appalachian State, WMU, or NIU AT HOME certainly would have helped the committee see this differently. Gotta win games against weak competition, especially on your own court. Great season overall though, and there's no reason we can't win a game or two in Portland. Buffalo would have been much more convenient for traveling fans, but are you really surprised we play at 10PM EST in Portland?!
  21. This is what success at Can't looks like. Glad I have a diploma from a real university.
  22. If we had beaten OSU and not lost to Fordham, WMU, and NIU, then we'd be 27-5, and I'd say...maybe, but even then it's likely only a 10% chance.
