  1. The UA Athletics Department has made the official announcement:7 YEAR DEAL!!!http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...0&ATCLID=877797
  2. Hey Dan,Just out of curiousity, did your brother graduate? From the interview he seems very intelligent and capable of earning his degree while playing. However, I realize it's possible that continued training for the NFL took priority.I'd love to see all our players earn their degrees!
  3. Jim Tressel won the National Championship with the John Cooper's recruits.
  4. I think Owens was a respectable coach. Unfortunately for him, a change in the program by the administration means a change of face at coach, but that's the life of any college coach.I'm glad he has moved on to something he enjoys and I hope he doesn't have any hard feelings towards UA.
  5. Look at his size already...and a great GPA to boot! He has the potential to be the quintesciential student-athlete. What are we waiting for here?
  6. I don't think Notre Dame would be a member b/c they would want to keep their exclusive football TV contract. Although they'd probably be invited to join, they'd choose not to. ND has the best of both worlds with their own football TV contract and a member of the Big East for all other sports.
  7. I'm assuming there will be a split into separate basketball (non D-I football) and football conferences. In that case, the Big East would be looking for additional football schools. I believe this would produce only 8 football schools if new ones weren't added...hardly enough for a conference. I think they'd have a target of 12 meaning there would be 4 open slots.I think Central Florida is a shoe in to join...leaving three others. Toledo would have a strong resume. UA would be a good third, but I'm not sure about the fourth. What potential schools does the Nation think would be good additions to a Big East football only conference?
  8. You know, we do have a contract to host the Big East Indoor Track and Field Championships through next year!:DI don't think a move to a conference less than the Big East would be worth it.
  9. I feel that Dru's future contributions to the game and perhaps our program will be as a coach...I think he'll follow in his father's footsteps.
  10. All though I think Charlie being the Brown's starting quarterback is great for UA exposure in NE Ohio, it would be best for him to go to a different team where he'd actually have a shot at winning and showing off his ability. Doing so would also give UA and the football program better exposure nationally. If the Browns are stupid enough to draft Brady Quinn, then so be it. They'll continue to suck indefinitely and Charlie can do his thing else where.
  11. So you're implying we can beat OSU but not Bowling Green?...Reverse those two games and you might be on to something.
  12. April Fools!...and not a good one I might add.
  13. I agree with the above. However, hats off to Dru and Rome for being the cornerstones of the new era in Zips men's basketball!
  14. http://www.gozips.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_...0&ATCLID=835839Way to go Romeo! In spite of no post-season this year, we got a lot of positive national exposure...not to mention we beat Can't three times b/c
  15. I don't think Heath's performance warrants being fired! He turned the program around and went to the NCAA's the past two years. I don't think that's fair and is why I'd never want to be a coach. What do you all think? You'd think stability would be a good thing for a program...that's why I like what we have with KD here!
  16. JD should be more of a candidate for the UM football job than KD is for the UM basketball position. Lloyd Carr will be gone as soon as OSU beats them for the Xth time since Tressel took over.At least we know
  17. We never would have played a team as good as Oregon in the first round because our seed would have been higher. We were projected to be a 10 to 12 seed, not a 14 like Miami. Thus, I think our chances would have been even better to win a first-round game.
  18. Could this week get any worse for UA athletics fans?...wait, it just did!
  19. I think a shirt reading "The University of Akron Zips, 2007 NIT Champions" would be appropriate as we had a legit shot of winning this thing and that fear is perhaps what prevented us from being selected.
  20. Can someone who has viwed the article online copy and paste the text here?
  21. I'm now a graduate student at Pitt (I live in Shadyside) and also a UA alum. Let me just say welcome from all of who constitute the Nation. I hope we see several postseason appearances during your tenure!I'm sure you already know this, but
  22. Yes, without a doubt, we got screwed by the NCAA and NIT selection committees. The best thing we as fans can do is call into national shows and state our case. Call JT The Brick tomorrow night on Gametime React. He is on 100+ stations across the country and in every major city.http://msn.foxsports.com/story/865321Listen to other callers to get a handle and then state our case and give UA and the men's basketball team the positive national exposure they deserve!
  23. I think it's a good idea. We'd have to get some media coverage to make it worth while though.
  24. It's great that the national media is publicizing that we got snubbed!Unfortunately, that's little consolation for Dru and Rome!
