Thank God basketball season is here. I never thought we'd see a 4-8 football season! We've done nothing but go downhill since winning the MACC. The future prospects are not as great as everyone thinks because Buffalo and Temple are very quickly developing strong programs. You can say what you want about JD, but things like consistent offside penalties in the 11th game of the season are inexcusable.
Seriously! My fear though is that we'll get a 3-0 lead and be set up for a heart breaking loss as a result of the prevent defense not preventing anything.
"This past season, UConn, LSU, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, Washington, Akron and St. Louis, among others, were all left out of postseason play," the firm said today in a news release.Nice recognition.
Coach Lola is a very good coach and one who I expect to develop a strong program at UL. It's too bad that things didn't work out with him at UA, but fortunately for us, Coach Porter also seems very solid.
Did anyone notice this week that gozips.com didn't even have a preview of tonight's game against OU? It's been my experience that a preview is always released before a game. I actually enjoy reading about the all-time series history in W-L-T we have with all of our opponents for Football, Men's Basketball, and Men's Soccer. However, this fact has not been included in any of the Men's Soccer previews. We should take advantage of every chance we get to let the world know that we are ~25-6-5 against OSU in Men's Soccer! Was the omission of the OU football preview a result of the short turn around time since the last game or has the administration lost as much interest in the remainder of this season as most of the fans have? It's hard to build any kind of a fan base when our own Athletic Department can't release a preview on its own website! And we wonder why there isn't an interest from the community as a whole or publicity from the Beacon Journal?
The way we've played the last three games, we'd be lucky to have Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street doing the play-by-play.At least we'll always know that
We should know from how last season ended that the regular season championship means very little. Yes, it can be archived as an accomplishment and gives us an advantage in the MAC Tournament; however, if we don't win the MACC, we will end up getting screwed in the NCAA Tournament selection process. I believe we have the resume' to receive an at-large bid although we probably won't get a decent seed if we aren't MACCs. Congratulations UA Men's Soccer!...Keep the momentum going!
