A little Cross-thread action Interaction: The Chair of the NCAA Men's BB Rules Committee used to be none other than Keith Dambrot. Wonder if he's still in that position? Mainly I hope men's play never moves to four quarters. The stoppage of play breaks up the action unnecessarily!

Before this board existed I was subscribed to a MAC sports email list serve in the late 90s, early 2000s that had people from just about every school (including Marshall, but no Buffalo or UCF or NIU IIRC). It was the late Mr Go Zips who told me about and got me involved in the list -- we were the only Akron supporters. The largest contingent was Miami fans, and the folks in Oxford - which included the Millett Hall scoreboard operator - would often comment about the difficulty they had in getting students out for the games, and that most of the fans in the seats should have gotten the geriatric ticket rate. It was said that the men wore red sweaters and the women, blue hair!

Two points: I didn't get to see today's game. However the team played it's best half-court defense since the Suckeyes game in the second half on Friday. If they're going to be a contender in Cleveland they'll have to continue that, and the bench will need to continue contributing. Second about Ryan Prather, this kid was so heavily recruited-- Rhode Is., Buffalo, Wichita offers -- that I'm afraid if Groce tells him "It doesn't look like you're going to be playing next year", he might say, "Catch me in the portal coach!" That's where CBB is today. Hope he's not that kind of kid, but who knows.

I'm predicting Hester makes a very serious run to be a starter in the fall. Very serious run... -
Keeping up with the Three D's (Dambrot, Dru & Duquesne)

Noah DID transfer. But I think he was a graduate transfer at New Mexico after Keith left. -

Ummm, Noah was recruited from Bishop Gorman HS in Vegas. The coaches camped out at a casino after they lost out on another PG at the last second. Noah was one of the top unsigned PGs. He had earlier verballed to a high major, IIRC. -
Yep, there're plenty of those types around the MAC. Bowling Green especially is building a program around them. Next season Faith Stinson arrives at the JAR from Sheridan HS in Thornville. 6'1, 175+ with D1 power moves inside for a big. She should see PT in 22-23. And her sister, Jamisyn, a soph was offerred two weeks ago after scoring 28 in the game vs the state's top team, Purcell Marian and Dee Alexander, the top-rated frosh in the nation.

Well...two statistics sure stick out! 🤯 Rebounds 49-28 UT! Turnovers Toledo 13, Akron 2. Said 1 right after the game. School record? Wasted in any case..
-
Yeah. It's not a "rule". It was just a poor job by the officials. They could have looked at it immediately. Almost certain of that. Although I didn't see it... 😏

Now Akron wahine team has gotta deliver the Double KO to UT on Saturday!
-
Hold on! TV I THOUGHT showed the tech on the Miami post player for bending over before Freeman fell over him -- was it on the COACH??? And X-Cast took just one FT, right? 🤔🤷♂️
-
Freeman carried the team, but...game ball to the bench!
-
Honestly. That was an AWFUL tech call on Miami. He just leaned over...!

Halftime action: managers repairing the net ...with bobby-pins! 🙄

Alix2 2 pts on 2 shots first 20. Hate how he disappears! Make sure he reads this!!
-
How long was Bandie in the restricted area with no help defense??
-
That was a 13-2 Akron run before Miami's last bucket.
-
Hey, hey, hey. Is it luau night at the JAR?? Or are the Boogaloo Bois in town? If the former I'll have a mai tai. BARTENDER!!!

Thanks TennZip and Zip_ME87 for sharing this absolutely amazing S.I. story from Istanbul and across D.A.'s career so far. I was quite surprised that he left for Turkey from Newcastle. Knowing the Yedlins' social and political activism, it was rather incredible that DeAndre would take up residence in a nation led by a religio-fascistic cult of an autocratic leader like Erdogun. If he wanted that, he could have signed with FC Dallas! 😬 So, so happy for the birth of DeAndre's girl Seneca -- no mention of it also being the name of the largest tribe of the Six Nations of the Iriquois Confederacy, and DeAndre being 1/4 Native American. That's the first info I've seen about his wife -- I wonder if she's Cuban-American or Puertoriquena or what (Rodriguez). He had his fling with his McGyver girl, now time to settle down and make a family! Frankly, I'm wondering how long D.A. keeps up the football game, as he has so many other talents -- maybe Becks can help get him a music contract, as his rapping is pro-style! Can't wait to see the new Roselle line. And, BTW, did you know the Fox primetime show Wayward Pines had a character named after his mom -- Rebecca Yedlin! 😯

That will be corrected next season. But to rebut 72 Roo, if coach Jackson is so delinquent in coaching her team she wouldn't be one of the favorites for MAC COY. The team was predicted 12th and is still in fourth after falling behind Buffalo and WMU in the standings. The season lies in the balance heading into the biggest game of the season on Saturday vs #1 UT. Beat the Rockettes and we have a good chance of a top-4 finish. The MAC being what it is, I think the Zips' chances are excellent, though they'll be underdogs -- that's the place the team seems to prefer. #GoZips!

Nickname: "Bad To The" -
Yes, Akron Zips are 6-3 in MAC play! Predicted to finish LAST in the league, Zips are tied with pre-season favorites Buffalo for second place. Wednesday opponent WMU and Ohio are 1/2 game behind at 5-3. Western lost Monday night 61-47 at home to Northern Illinois - a bad loss, but just another night of MACtion. This Saturday we face league-leading Toledo at the JAR after starting league play on New Years with a 64-58 loss to the Rockettes at Savage Hall, the closest home game for UT until last week's 79-72 loss to OU. I really hope our new AD realizes this is the biggest back-to-back games for our WBB Zips since their MAC title year of 2014. Got to at least get the student bodies out to cheer on this break-through season for coach Jackson's Roo squad. #GoZipsWBB.

Yes. I can confirm the Sweater Krew have reservations at GL's Motel in Green. And I should know since I was a classmate of Gary Lee Six, former Zips' offensive lineman after whom the place is named! 🤣
