    I don't have the energy at 3 a.m. EST (10:30 in the islands 😉) to search for it, but after the Arth firing one of the first posts on this or another thread mentioned coach Moorhead's name and stated (IIRC) that he wouldn't be available due to his health condition. I know nothing about this story. Could anyone with info please comment or post an article on this thread? Mahalo nui loa! And the Zip in Paradise won't be buying season tickets but hopefully the marketing dept can actually come up with gear for fans in Hawai'i nei.

    I apologize in advance for my ill-informed comments! 😒 I thought we were on the road tonight! Who remembers 2003 when Marshall played at the JAR? We led about 49-42 at the half bit Marshall scored 60-something the 2nd half. Their McDonald's All-America put down FOURTEEN three-point baskets and scored 48 pts. Unreal game. I remember because it was the last game I watched in Akron, and because Dan Hipsher kicked me out of his practice the day before! 🤣

    To this day I contend that Dan Hipsher did not voluntarily pick Keith Dambrot to be his assistant. From day one there was the appearance of Keith being the heir apparent.

    Good morning all! I don't ❤ 6 a.m. games! Anyway, woke up at halftime to see Ali x2 not missing from floor, but X-Cast and Walton taking only one combined shot in the half. Gotta get a more balanced offense, coach. Thank you Purple Aces for playing like Akron the past two days. We needed that. 💜

    I saw none of this mess, but...why did Walton play just 15 minutes and take only 2 shots? We're dependent on shotmaking that we can't shoot, and he's the only one who can take the rock to the rack! This is a coaching failure and Groce had sure better accept it!

    I hate to get ahead of my team -- not knowing how many eggs will be layed -- but what does the bracket look like? Could we play Vermont for fifth if both win today? Vermont's beating Evansville 39-33 with about 10 minutes remaining. I had originally visioned an Akron-Vermont championship game, and the matchup may still be possible. Both teams were top-100 RPI coming into this, but were upset on Monday. Excellent matchup if it occurs.

    Is the Irish gal still on the team? Pandemic I imagine made it hard or impossible for her to get to Akron. She would have been a true freshman last year -- don't think she was on campus. Wonder if she can play. 6-2 Irish youth national team player.

    How are field conditions? I see it's in the low 40s and no precip. Anyone remember about 1981 when we played Wisconsin Green Bay in the first round and sleet and freezing rain fell until early afternoon before the game started around 2:00. Bob Dowdy hired a helicopter to come in and fly about 40 or 50 feet above the field with the hope that the breeze blown up by the chopper would keep the field from freezing -- making it more playable. I guess it worked -- the rain stopped before kickoff and the Zips won easily.

    I don't know, but this opening game seems somewhat similar to 2017 when Akron -- then ranked #3 played #22 Seattle of the WAC in what must have been round 2, as we had a first round bye. We defeated the Redhawks 3-0. This team has a much lower floor than that College Cup semi-finalist team. The MAC season showed we must be prepared for every opponent. However, I feel this team is capable of beating anyone in the tournament if they play up to their potential. First round prediction: Akron 3 SCU 1.

    Kalle went 3 for 3 in 4 minutes of mop-up duty. Did he look like he belonged? I wonder if we still have the rule that players can play several games and still redshirt. Anyone know?
