Gonzaga is a mid-major in name only.  They are a private school with no football. They made a decision to spend the money to compete with the P-5 schools. They have their own private jet and a huge recruiting budget. They made basketball the #1 priority.

You mean their ONLY priority!  #2 priority is WOMEN's basketball!

Well-written article on Big Dog.  Some decent journalism and use of the word "fulcrum!"

I heart the Suburbanite!  Old times really kicked in with the article over "Fight and Prostitution at Green Motel"  Hilltopper, is GL's still in operation?  lol. I was classmate with the son of the owner -- He actually played OL for coach Dennison! :)

Technically, I guess they are still in this, but NIU is going to at least get 35 points in the second half. Meaning if the Zips put up 50, they "could" come back.

I lost track when we went up by 5!  How many have the Huskies scored?!?  I <3 it!!!

  4. And the network apparently could be either CBSSports or ESPN(U).  But, they should take that wording off the schedule after the point at which they know it isn't going to be televised.  I have not seen a point spread for tonight, but I suspect NIU should be a 2 or 3 point favorite given their record.

People are asking why the Bulls don't have a better record. The answer is sure they have some guys that can dribble penetrate, but they came into last night shooting 27% as a team from 3 point land. With those low of percentages, teams can play off them to limit dribble penetration. Against Akron Buffalo went 10/22 from 3 for a 45.5% shooting. When they are shooting that hot from behind the arc it is pretty much pick your poison. Do you play them tight making it easier for them to beat you on dribble penetration or do you give them space and let them beat you with the 3. Unfortunately we don't have guards with the lateral quickness and determination to do both.

I believe I read in the pre-game notes to this one, that the Bulls were averaging just over 4 made 3-pointers a game.  They hit 10 against us, which I guess is 18 extra points (not sure what their PPG average was).  But, at the same time, as I reported during the second half, 32 of their first 52 shot attempts were layups!  Now WHO was picking WHOM'S poison?  Luckily, I think they missed at least a third of those lay-ups.  Bottom line, as far as I see it is, we wouldn't have won this game in years gone by, because we wouldn't have had a KC to make those 24-footers.  But, chances are, Big Dog would have still missed a slew of FTs!

You're almost right. After Kwan hit that third consecutive three at about 7:00, the only others were a layup and a three from Antino late. Everything else was free throws.

I think when Kwan made that final '3', we went up like 73-64?  I know it was a nine point lead.  Then we tried to run out the clock again .  My heart can't take many more of these.
