  1. sure we're not playing Miami with the score what it is?
  2. I like that KD did the scrimmage with Xavier rather than some D-II school. That should help more than a blowout would.
  3. Yes, they do seem to change the rules when it comes time to do the selection
  4. Here's the pregame story from their paper
  5. I'm sure Canton would be thrilled to have something move from Akron to Canton for once!
  6. Unfortunately we need the rest of the MAC teams to schedule tougher schedules to really help us, but we have no influence on their OOC scheduling.
  7. he was listed as "athlete"; I just figured because of his size he'd be a better safety than DB.
  8. is he projected as a safety?
  9. I know that's how I feel about the Browns this yearBack to the subject... how much do you think the weather forecast factored in last night? I know we canceled our after-game plans, but still attended.
  10. Nice game last night. I hope that one of the PG's can become eligible to give Ced some rest for his knees. I think McNees will fill his spot nicely.Loved seeing the banners in the bleachers!Rowdies on one end were good... but we need them to fill BOTH ends!
  11. I think once the bowl games are over, the JAR attendance will pick up.In the mean time, it sure couldn't hurt to have the current record @ the JAR broadcast on the news with a story about the upcoming game rather than maybe covering the results only. But since there's only life in Cleveland, it'll never happen.
  12. MAC west has lots of losses, but I didn't check who they played... east looks better (again, haven't looked at who they played), and based on past performance and what games I have seen, the east looks to be the better of the twain.I wish the ABJ would have written the story about tonight's game with a focus on who Wyoming is, and not on the free-throws. It would have generated more of a positive look at the program, rather than a headline that implies "look... they suck @ FT's... don't bother watching".Here's to a W for the Zips tonight!
  13. Has anyone seen a ranking for our b-ball recruiting? MAC or NCAA? I have to think KD's classes have been getting better each year because the talent from the freshmen this year seems to be poised to eclipse some of the existing talent.
  14. ABJ story
  15. I like it!
  16. I thought J-Wood looked more like this guy...
  17. Sorry, the "cold and rainy" excuse doesn't cut it for me when I see blue-hairs with walkers that can make it to the game. Cut through a few buildings if you need to - I used to do it all the time!
  18. GoZips.com used to have computer wallpapers somewhere, but I can't find them and I'd like to show off my spirit some at work with something cool. The capitalonebowl.com wallpapers with Zippy aren't that great especially since I'm on a widescreen monitor, so stretching Zippy to fit looks weird. Also, the b-ball page only has last year's pics, media guide, game notes, etc.
  19. 2. - AMEN! Bring ALL your friends, fraternity, sorority, etc! And sit down on the floor unless it's full!4. - Personally, I'd rather not hear "so-and-so sucks" at all. I'm not that old, but I don't consider it appropriate for children to hear and use any more than other swear words.5. - Signs last year were GREAT! What happened this year?7. - What's with having to instruct us how to spell? Just start the ^&*( cheer and we'll follow - that's why they are called cheerLEADERS!
  20. I think that will be a key to opening the eyes of the community as to how much the U has changed. They will be "forced" to come onto campus to see their HS games (city series anyway) unless the APS decides to buy the RB.
  21. If UA has your current address and you are an alum, you should be receiving the "Akron" magazine which has lots of stories about the academic and sports achievements and the new campus upgrades, stories about UA alumni, as well as current staff and faculty.
  22. I like the idea of applying the KD scheduling theory to football. Our OOC schedule really doesn't mean anything with the MAC having 3 bowl affiliations, so getting a 1-AA or very low 1-A "warm-up" to start off and then playing some beatable but similar strength teams (on the 1-for-1 deal) to "tune up" for the conference. Hopefully that generates wins, which generates excitement and attendance which will generate the $$$ and hopefully move us forward to playing better 1-for-1's eventually.
  23. and NIU's coach resigned or retired (I forget which).
  24. I too was hoping to see more of Bardo in the final few minutes. He seemed a bit nervous and occasionally out of place when he was in, but with the lead they had built, what would it hurt to let him learn? It also would have given the starters some additional rest for Monday's game against Temple.Since I wasn't able to attend the exhibition game against Walsh, I can't comment on my impressions of improvement. They did seem to have the early season miscommunications, but I was impresses with McNees on the offensive end of the court: lots of energy and he seems to have a good shot and pass pretty well. I was hoping CMcKnight would have progressed more in the off-season to be able to step up into Romeo's spot; early last year he seemed like he could be that guy.Not much else stood out to me, but I'm neither an ex-player or ex-coach so I'm sure there's things others saw that I didn't.
  25. Biggest challenge for the night will be shutting down their 3-pt attempts. Hope KD can get them going and keep them going. A blowout would be nice to send a message we're back again, but I'm not counting on it.
