  1. Quinn will be the starter against taller teams. His height is an asset for set pieces
  2. Derschang's stat production at SMU doesn't look like a Zip starter. Anyone know if he's playing PDL right now?

  4. I believe you're right, I don't see Derschang starting over Schmitt. He wasn't one of TopDrawers top 100's. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/college-soc...nal-top-100/men
  5. What Cup Cadet Field / First Energy Stadium should look like
  6. there's a fun little discussion going on about this about Big Soccer, http://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads.../#post-25848430 It would be a fun tournament to watch.
  7. The US viewership was up over the last EURO Cup. Almost 5.8 million US viewers watch Euro 2012 final http://www.socceramerica.com/article/47273...2012-final.html
  8. Darren Mattocks scored his 4th MLS goal last night http://www.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2012-...?videoID=191123
  9. he's was listed as injured for Fantasy soccer. http://www.dynamotheory.com/2012/6/30/3129...houston-the-win
  10. You've questioned this before and I responded. It appears you refuse to believe the WVU game has potential to break the 6,000 mark when it's going to be played a couple hrs after the football team finishes their game against Western Michigan at the Info. There's also very good odds the Zips will be ranked #1 in the country at that point. With your attitude, you should take all your personal finances and invest it in the SPXU.
  11. If there was a state vs state tournament, who would represent Ohio?
  12. Local people want to attach themselves to a local team that wins. We all want local pride. The reason why that school in Columbus (ohio state) has so many fans here is because they win and have the word Ohio attached to it. That name gives the locals a sense of pride because they win. We've witnessed UAkron soccer set attendance records year after year because of winning. This trend will continue as Akron continues to win. The nice thing about soccer is the atmosphere created by the fans. Some people probably go to the games to witness or be a part of that atmosphere. This helps bring up the odds that someone will return for another game. Akron is doing their part by winning. The winning ways are bringing in new people. It's our job as fans to create an atmosphere that hooks them in. My plan with Rubber City Brigade is to work with the Ak Rowdies with creating a pro-like atmosphere for Zips soccer games. We're planning Tifos and will be tailgating for every home game. AK Rowdies will be for students, RCB will be for everyone. Let's not worry about soccer vs baseball and focus on what we can control. Let's grow soccer in Akron even more.
  13. For anyone worried about Teal Bunbury's form, he's playing a strong game today. I've noticed him attacking the ball all over the field. His hustle has greatly improved.
  14. Here's an amazing article that all soccer haters should read http://www.kansascity.com/2012/05/25/36276...orting-kcs.html “Hopefully they’ll say we’re winners,” he says. “That we’re winners and that we’re local. Those are the two biggest brand personalities we’re trying to push.” How many Akron soccer fans became fans because of Akron's success. As Akron continues to make National Championship runs, more fans will start to watch it.
  15. An NASL team could do very well in Akron. I expect the Zips to exceed the 6,000 attendance mark this year in soccer for the WVU game which is scheduled to play a few hours after the Western Michigan home football game. Expecting people to attend both games. In 2011, Soccer was the most attended sport by average in Akron whether you want to believe it or not, Akron basketball is second. The football team had less than 1,000 people 3 times last year (inside info). I expect the Bowden hype to draw a couple decent football crowds this year so it's possible football will retake the top spot. The Summit Assault's failure was caused by the lack of awareness the program existed. The name was also awful. With proper management and a deep pocket investor, maybe we'll get that NASL team.
  16. I believe the main challenge for the MLS is not competing with other sports, but competing with the EPL and 2teams from La Liga for soccer fans in the US
  17. There are a few posters that deny soccer's relevance and still think Lebron James and Adrian Peterson would be the best soccer players ever had they applied their athletic ability towards it. Dr. Z is not one of them and has been supportive of soccer on Zipsnation.
  18. soccer is extremely popular among the Asian and Hispanic population. Both of these groups are going to experience strong population growth in the United States. MLB plays over 3 times the games as MLS and also makes a lot more revenue from TV games. The MLS has a bright future that could someday overcome MLB, but not for the next 5 years.
  19. Don't count Italy out, they're destined to win it.
