I hope I'm wrong for the people's sake, but I think history will show LeBron's "influence" on Akron (city/University) as a net negative unless something drastically changes. Unless he's willing to truly commit to growing Akron as a whole, the University would do well in distancing themselves from him as much as possible. Figuring out how to repair/build relationships with the larger Akron-area companies is what UA officials should be focused on in terms of financial support. As a brand, UA would do well in figuring out how to market themselves better to greater-Akron-area families.

Eric Mahaffey will be highly sought after. Sharron as well to a lesser extent due to size.

The MAC is really lucky their top teams are consistently within a few hours of Cleveland and typically have a decent alumni presence in the NEO area. The geographic footprint of other conferences is a disadvantage when it comes to conference tourneys.

They were ~.500 when the tourney began. They have over 20 wins now lol.

Marshall just lost to 10 seed Georgia Southern. UNCG lost to Furman earlier. Only Wright State remains as a potential conference champion in their OOC. They play Northern Kentucky tomorrow for the title. Edit: Technically Arkansas Pine Bluff is still in their conference tourney. Long shot to win it all.

Akron is 2nd this year in the MAC in rebounding despite our tallest key contributor being 6'8". A better rim protector would be nice, but scoring and athleticism are the dominant attributes. Any additions will be under that mold IMO. Anybody coming in will be expected to work their butt off and play bigger than their physical size appears.

I agree - I was happy to see that hapen for every reason you mentioned and exactly why Groce made sure NIU's beatdown lasted the full 40 minutes (plus it helps NET).

The guy isn't wrong; there's always the possibility of a flat game. However, I don't think Groce or these seniors will be looking ahead. Suder had zero intentions of attempting to score. In fact, he held onto the ball like a football and used his off arm as a stiff arm. It is a very clear arm extension and this is his game. He plays guard like Mike Alstott and cries when he doesn't get the call. At the very least, this should've been a no call and a turnover.
