  1. 😂😂😂😂😂
  2. Yet another graphic showcasing what Akron's gameplan has to be.
  3. I wonder if Michaels would be a target for us with Okonkwo presumably returning, should we have a scholarship or two open up. UK connection and could learn under Harris (again, assuming he returns). Why? Screw em. Toledo is a trash program and Simmons is Kent-esque with his antics. I haven't hated a non-Kent/Ohio player so much since Doug Penno. Him stepping on Lyles's ankle in one of the recent games was the icing on the cake. They'll be fine. There are tons of overseas leagues paying livable wages for basketball talent. Kowalchoke needs to look in the mirror and ask why all his top talent wants to leave so quickly. Good.
  4. Arizona does not shoot the 3-ball very well. Their top 3 scorers (the only 3 that average double digits PPG) are all guards that shoot under 30% from 3. In fact, you have to go all the way down to their two lowest scorers to find quality 3P shooting. This is such a fascinating matchup because their weaknesses play right into our strengths, and our weaknesses play into their strengths. (The highlighted percentages in this first graphic are their bigs who have only taken a few 3P shots all season.)
  5. @Captain Kangaroo has never seen a more perfect bracket, with 2 Akron A's in the middle.
  6. So Enrique gets chosen for the free throws, makes em both, and Akron gets a timely shout-out on the broadcast to boot. Unbelievable. 😂
  7. According to someone who covered his press conference Friday night, Pinky said he won't be watching the championship game because he's "miserable." He has looked miserable at Kent ever since his player fouled Tribble while up 1 with a few seconds to go in the MAC Championship. His press conference about Akron being the Yankees/Dodgers was odd and whiny, but also quite telling as to the state of Kent basketball/athletics. Miami OH has NIL for basketball and UMass coming in is about to be a rude awakening for most of the MAC. Albany being his alma mater was also something I found earlier when reading about the potential move, and I already thought it would be a legitimate possibility since he's from NY. As long as Kent doesn't luck into the Sean Lewis of CBB, TOS to PCCC would be hilarious. Quite frankly, I don't think they'd be a very attractive destination for any quality candidates as one of the main questions people will be asking is why the winningest coach in program history decided to leave on his own terms. The difference between that question being asked for Akron & Kent: Bud Wentz isn't answering for Kent.
  8. Tim O'Shea. He was Ohio's coach in the early to mid 00s and left for Bryant. BobcatAttack started the trend of "TOS to _____" for coach openings.
  9. Bowen Hardman's family member posted a nice message in the Zips Fan Facebook group, thanking ZipsNation.
  10. Akron, UMass, and Miami could become something special. Miami is getting the new arena and as long as they retain Steele, they'll be competitive.
  11. I think the Kent State education is starting to get to Pinky.
  12. And even then, they still had to wake up and smell themselves.
  13. Hard to sneak up when you possess nearly every quality found in a Cinderella/Bracket Buster. Outstanding guards, athletic roster, and depth. Not to mention Groce has been there done that.
  14. Jeff Goodman: Most likely double digit seeds to make the Sweet Sixteen
  15. We are back with another year of the ZipsNation Bracket Challenge, yet again featuring the Zips in the bracket. If you have participated in the past, I just sent out an alert that the group is now active, so feel free to create your bracket. For those who are new, click here to join. It is 100% free. The only thing we play for is pride. The scoring is Standard Points + Seed. Each round is worth X number of points, and picking the correct winner in that round results in a final point total of that team's seed + round points. i.e. Sweet Sixteen is 4 points, so if you have a 4 seed winning in the Sweet Sixteen, it's 4+4=8 total points (Kent fans had to use their toes for that one). Never forget: no matter how bad your bracket turns out, you'll still never be as big a failure as a Kent fan. Good luck & Go Zips!
  16. No they can't. MLB gave them the finger after ESPN tried to decrease the cost of their media deal. ESPN is drowning in its NBA deal.
  17. This is an interesting chart. Villanova apparently likes to shoot it from Chattanooga, Arizona really is a post/paint team, and Akron loves the top of the arc. I'd love to see our chart back in January; it'd probably look a lot different.
  18. I hope every single one of these suits involved with the NCAAT and NIT had their Cheerios peed in this morning.
  19. So because there are other problems, we should let this problem go unaddressed? The consolidation of wealth & power in the NCAA is BS. We're talking about jerking around with people's lives. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Imagine being 18-24 years old, you played your asses off all season, had a lot of success, and you miss out on participating in one of the greatest sporting events in the world because some arrogant suits want to make sure their chairman gets his $100k bonus check. I'd imagine the Morgantown & Boise businesses would appreciate some fight on this, since they are set to lose out big time on people being out and about for watch parties and what not. Elitist corruption has run rampant in this country for far too long, and the NCAA is a huge culprit.
