  1. Sorry, B&G, while i could easily be wrong, it seems to me that all of the phases all the way from feasability studies right down to full construction plans have been completed, if they are now looking for a construction manager. A construction manager doesn't do any design work. That has all been done. They manage the project and all the contractors/sub contractors. It means, the ball will be rolling.

  2. It was ironic that another post had begun moving in this direction, because I was considering starting this conversation a few days ago. I'll start it afresh here so it has it's own heading...I miss the moving A logo too! I don't really like the new kangaroo head logo! The new logo is too busy, and doesn't stand out on uniforms. It's also just kinda confussing because the "A" doesn't look like an A and the Kangaroo head doesn't look like a kangaroo! It looks like a freakin' DONKEY! I think the old cartoonish Zippy logo was great! I love the FEAR THE ROO slogan, that's gotta stay. But the most recent A-with-kangaroo-head is just kinda dumb. That's my opinion. What do you guys think?
I disagree so much with your post I simply cannot fathom that you are being serious. I am going to assume you are trolling. lolno way in hell the plain old A is better than the new stylized roo logo.Busy? Sure, just about ANYTHING would be busier than an 'A'heheYou must be bored today
  3. I don't feel any pressure? Whachu talking about. We're just fans. The pressure, if there is any, is what we get up for. It's what makes it fun.Well, the smack talk is fun too. Even though I usually don't talk a lot of smack, I do find it entertaining. The only thing I can't stand is when people who willingly enter a round of smack talk allow themselves to take it personal. I dunno any other way to say it other than it's the least manly thing to do to take smack personal. Lay it on, but remember, if you can't take the heat.....I can't wait for this game!Am I the only one who feels that the conference tourney sorta takes something away from the big rival games at the end of the season? This game would be bigger if all the marbles were on the line.

  4. and the Univ gets what it pays for....cheap, inexperienced students creating cheap, uninspiring results
and the thing is, I am sure there are students who could do the job who have more imagination and a make-it-happen attitude, but those type of people usually don't come knocking on your door.
  5. Yup. I was going to suggest either approval email method or admin confirmation method (or both). With email approval, the registrant needs to be using an email address that they can actually check in order to finish the registration process. This stops spam bots and even a lot of human spammers because they dont' want to go through the trouble.Admin confirmation is a pain for the admin, but if you have to wait 24 hours before you get approved and can post, most spammers can't be arsed to wait. But that is why I was talking about an upgrade. Not only should you get security fixes, but also, the newer versions of IPB probably have some of these features built in.

  6. I dunno about IPB, but in XMB you can turn off post reporting as a feature.and if you don't want to turn it off, it's probably just a matter of editing the templates to locate the report button somewhere else.Caches.If it's server side (or proxy) there's not much you can do about it. It's up to the server (or host) admin to change some settings, depending how it's being cached. There are some settings that can be included in meta-tags of the pages, such as Cache-Control and document expiration. If it's happening client side, I'm not sure, but I bet there's a way to tweak how sites get cached in the browser options. The easy way would be to turn down the amount of memory allocated in general for caching, but that wont help you specifically with zipsnation. IE calls them "temporary files", mozilla just calls them cache

  7. Elton Alexander is doing his job. I think the contributor from the Plain Dealer should show Akron some love in the poll, because, for the most part, no one else would. If it was Can't, or CSU that had our record, I would like to think he would do it for them as well (specially if it was CSU, you know it would happen).I dunno what's up with Nick Jezierny (Boise), but is it possible that the writter from Philly took notice of the zips last year when we beat Temple in the NIT?

  8. Projected Remaining Regular Season Record - 8-1Projected MAC Tournament Wins - 3NCAA BerthProjected NCAA Tournament Wins - 2
I'm likin' it! All except for the last line. If we get two NCAA tourney wins, that means we will probably have beat higher seeds (since we will likely be a low seed) and I see no reason we should stop with two wins there. :smug:
  9. I agree BigZip. But I have a theory about the motive of this ad.It angle almost seemed like it was oriented toward parents, but I can't figure why, since parents rarely make the decision where to attend for their kids. I really think they need to find a way to show off the campus in a light that makes it look "fun" to go to Akron. I put "fun" in quotes because it's such a generic word, but seriously, "opportunity" is great but it's not a good angle to use on highschool aged students. Sure, you don't want to attract the type of students who only attend to party with limited academic pursuits, but it's pretty much a given that if a student is looking at colleges/universities, they already have ambition for a better future and 'opportunity'. When making their choice where to go to school, they assume that most any diploma is going to give them 'opportunity', so they are selecting a place that fits their budget but still gives them a quality student lift, which is another way of saying 'fun'.My theory about this ad is that it is not really intended to increase enrollement. It is intened to help image.I am guessing that they have studies, and focus groups, and other data which indicates that people think of U Akron as a cheap local commuter school. THAT is why they ran this ad. It is intended to promote the message that Akron is a quality, high-tech, on-the-edge, going-places type of school.

  10. why cancel classes when some of the students live on campus, and some of the students who commute have no problem with colder temperatures? If you have a crappy vehicle or you can't afford to dress in layers, then don't go in.  Something tells me they wont fail you for now showing up today. If the University is willing to pay the bills to keep the heat on for you today, I am guessing that they think it's a good idea not to set everyone's semester back because of chilly temps.
I forgot living on campus makes you immune from walking around in -20 degree temps all day. I should have paid more attention to my physics class.
LOL, everyone made it to work today. I also forgot my physiology class where they taught that your diploma gave you "heartiness"
