  1. No, winning the MAC tourney is not out of the question, but if we didn't win it, but won out the season with a conf.record of 15-1 and overll record of 26-4, one would like to think you could get a freakin' bid to the big dace.

  2. Also, can we please re-do the "Fear the Roo!" Jingle????  Get the movie guy voice over guy to say it in an intimidating way... Singing it like they do now just doesn;t cut it...
Yeah, it's pretty ghey. I mean, even if you want to have a "family friendly image" and not use some intimidating voice, that doesn't mean you should sound like disney x PBS x basement cable access
  3. I heard charlie on the radio yesterday say that the new offensive coordinator likes to run an attack style offense and likes to keep the defense on their toes and spread out and this is what I have been calling for FOR YEARS. I hope it's for real.BTW, Frye's barb against Smith is hilarious.

  4. On one hand, I'd really like to see Toledo get a hash in that loss column. They're stealing some of our lime-light with their undefeated conference record. But on the other hand, Ohio going to 4-4 helps pull them off our heals a bit so that it would really only be Can't right behind us in the east. The game is Wednesday. I can't decide.

  5. Nevermind.  The AP poll is already out.  It's right here.We still have an entire two votes.
NOW the new AP poll is out, and akron has 5 votes.26. Indiana 14127. Kentucky 10628. Georgetown 10529. Southern Illinois 10130. Virginia Commonwealth 9231. USC 6732. UNLV 4733. Michigan State 4034. Texas Tech 3735. Tennessee 2136. George Washington 2036. West Virginia 2038. LSU 1639. Maryland 1440. New Mexico State 1241. Georgia 1141. Virginia 1143. Villanova 843. Creighton 845. Louisville 746. Arkansas 647. Akron 548. Northern Iowa 2
  6. Seriously, true. If you think some schlub in BFE who was flipping through ballgames on saturday afternoon and caught a little bit of the UA/WM game is going to remember Akron from a hole in the wall, you are mistaken.... until they mention LeBron. You and I know that we have some history. You and I know that we have an identity.Joe Sixpack doesn't, and is hardly likely to pause and take much notice, let alone remember much at all about the Zips.Unfortunately, that's how it is.... and if "the Lebron connection" sets us apart a little bit to the idiot who doesn't give two shiits about mid-majors, I think it's a bit of a blessing until that miraculous day we do something that registers more than a blip on the national radar, such as winning several games in the big tourney.

  7. Rivals has Rodgers ranked as the 29th best dual-threat QB in the nation! Go Zips!
wait, does that mean he is the 29th best QB in the nation (and he happens to be a dual threat)?or does it mean he is 29th best of QBs who are considered a dual threat?I am assuming you mean the first statement, but since I don't subscribe to rivals, I can't go and look up a clarification.
  8. Let me pose a question here: Zips somehow win out through the bracketbuster. That puts them at 21-4, are they in the top 25 at that point? (that'd be 12 straight wins by the way)
I don't know if we would get enough respect, but the record would look impressive at that point and could be enough IF enough top25ers fall out from stringing up some losses. But I say, let's wins some games and worry about getting the top25 later.
  9. Maybe everyone would be a little bit more supporitve of the Rowdies if they were more supportive of thier team.  It seems like all they ever do is bash the opposing team.  Stalking other team's players and making signs with their phone numbers.....come on guys.  Maybe that's why they are so embarassing.....Not to mention the fact that the majority of the Anit Ak Rowdies have been a many games.  I for one was willing to pay the money....but I wasn't allowed to join.  What if I was a transfer student this semester and wanted to show my new school pride and join the AK ROWDIES???  How can a student organization stop letting students in??  These anti rowdies are not anti zips.  Infact they have much love for thier school's teams.  They are simply fans who do not wish to be assosciated with the rowdies.
lol, if you don't want to associate with the rowdies, then don't.I will revert back to my last quotation of the truism that to be vocally against something is to lend credence and homage to it, whether that is your intended goal or not.If you say, you are pro-zips and anti-rowdies, well, I just gotta ask, why does it seem that being anti-rowdies is more of an emphasis for you than being pro-zips? You're priorities are screwed up, unless, of course, you just like being the center of attention, no matter how low you gotta go to get it. ;)Singling out and doing psych-jobs on opponent players is not alter-boy behavior, but we aren't Div-IVc Church-on-a-hill Academy from podunk Connecticut. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, wouldn't this whole thing turn out as a blessing if the anti group could somehow transform itself into a pure student support group, and even form a friendly rivalry with the rowdies that included trying to out-do each other in showing support?
  10. I didn't even read most of this thread (just a half assed skim) because, honestly, unlike most people, drama doesn't thrill me. But I don't need to read the thread, because I am not going to speak about any group specifically. What it comes down to is one simple truth.... it has always been true, and will always be true. "Anti" groups are lame. Now, I am speaking in general, and not specifically about anyone or any group, because this seems to be a universal truth. All they ever do it lend credence and homage to the group they intend to protest, and always end up fading away in time because they have no true identity unto themselves except to be in protest or antagonistic to a group that actually does have a purpose and identity.

  11. I'm a Mentor High School grad and was at a few playoff games this year including the state championship game -- I heard from a few people that coach Trivisonno was trying to help Jacquemain transfer to BW.
Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't we get Iveljic from Mentor?
  12. I know that we see it all the time and get tired of it, but odds are that "the lebron tie in" will be the first time a reader has heard of it for most people outside our area, and is fine with me if it goes a little farther to planting a seed of identification and recognizability to the school's name. And if, (big "if") the zips get into NCAA tourney and win a few games, that's probably all you would hear people identifying the zips with "Oh yeah, the ex teammates of Lebron James". But still, it's the kinda thing that sticks in peoples memory, and can help Akron seem a little bit more recognizable to some schlub in Oregon or Oklahoma who might otherwise mix the name up with Alcorn State or something. heh
