This is true....and a good point.I play with photoshop.Want to see how fast I can do a halfway decent edit? Can anyone say PhotoShop? Its way to easy to manipulate digital photos to take this seriously. -
Yeah, I noticed that too this morning, and I am convinced atleat one, or several people were vigilantly repeat-voting for the Boise State player.... so I now no longer feel so bad for all the votes I put in. They tried really hard and seemed like they kept going all last night through the nite, but there were more of us and he just couldn't match up. :rock:The odd thing is that the OSU LB came back out of no where this morning after dropping to 3rd place last night. But I tend to doubt that OSU had people repeat voting. I am guessing that someone posted a link to the poll somewhere. OSU is a big school.I think we're going to win the fan vote! We came on strong last night to take the lead, but Boise State took it back overnight. Another great response from the Nation has allowed us to pull ahead for good! This speaks volumes to the strenth and pride of the ZipsNation! -
good point trimmybut what happens if DK wins fan voting, and the sports writters each vote for someone different?3 way tie?
-
Wow, talk about having no class. What a freaking whiner!
-
woah, you were so right when you thought you saw Boise State rolling up stats while the others dropped. Over night, they kept up their voting and now lead it.Boise State just hit 23 -
can we get busted for this? They say absolutely no where that multiple voting is prohibited.[edit]okay, Kennedy is ahead now. I'm done.I feel like such a loser refreshing / revoting for all that time.
-
I think that should work. But remember to check the little checkbox taht says something to the effect of "apply this setting to all cookies from this site".Pretty soon, the prompt will stop and you can keep refreshing and voting.
-
I was using Mozilla Firefox.I always have it set to prompt me before accepting cookies:Tools -> Options -> Cookies Then the first time I went to the voting page at USAtoday, I told it to deny the cookie and checked the box that said "Use this choice for all cookies from this site", which means that they wouldn't be able to set cookies anymore.I bet I have atleast 100 votes in on there already.how do i unaccept cookies??? then i wouldn't have to clear everytime. -
Everyone has called it close, so far.I'm going to be daring and call it for teh Zipz, 28-13
-
I made an announcement on a site that will get a lot more than 600.Kennedy has already jumped from 14% to 18%
-
No, I just voted and I never got a prompt to set a cookie in mozilla (I have it set to prompt for all new cookies)I refreshed and the results still displayed, so it's probably IP based.[edit] oh wait, that's odd. I just opened it in IE and it let me vote there, so it can't be solely IP based.[edit-2] Okay, I forgot that I turned of my cookie prompt setting. If anyone wants to try out this theory, set your browser not to allow any new cookies, and try voting.is it possible to not allow cookies and vote over and over again? -
Guys, listen, I said it before teh season and I am sticking to it now.We needed to beat BOTH Penn State and NC State to get a BCS rank, and even then it MAY not have happened.Even if we win out the rest of the season, and Penn State goes undefeated (helping with teh BCS because of the computer points portion), I am still not convinced it is enough. The only exception would be to get ranked in a coaches, media, and/or public voting poll that does not include strength-of-schedule computer calculations, by blowing out some teams hardcore and getting people to notice that way.We could have a great season and something to look forward too, but I think you might want to temper the whole ranking fever.

This makes A LOT of sense.I agree with the people who hate OSU, and I am willing to admit that it's envy. But I need to stress that the problem isn't OSU, and it's not Buckeye fans. The problem is the media and people in North East Ohio (particularly the media) who refuse to acknowledge the existence of the zips.We can't change them by wishing OSU didn't exist. We can change them by making it blatantly obvious to them that there is a phenomenon in Akron that needs to be noticed and cannot be ignored. So, we need to stop ripping on Buckeye fans because all it does is show envy. If we take care of business like beating NC State, people will start supporting Akron more and more. Hating the Buckeyes just makes you look like a jealous family member that complains about how life isn't fair. -
jajajajaPillow fight of the week: Can't State at Army. -
1) OUR RUN DEFENSE PWNT!!!We were stuffing their running game all freakin' day long!Just from memory, I think there were close to 10 plays that Penn had for negative yardage. If we had one glaring strength in that game, our Run-D was it.2) See number 13) We held it together. I don't mean to sound like Pluto, but in the back of my mind, I was sorta waiting for that breakdown momment when we gave up, and we never did. Even the new punter, who got rushed hard every single put, and buried on his back several times, kept his poise when the wet football misbehaved. No one panicked. No one quit.4) Our most consitently perceivable mismatch actually seemed to be our 0-line who were consistently late getting bodies in front of pass rushers and couldn't make holes for the runner they way they should have.5) Our most glaring weakness was our coverage schemes. I never saw anybody get blown away with too much speed or talent... but what I did see a lot of were guys who appeared out of place when the ball was in the air (due to how our coverage schemes were getting picked apart) and linebackers trying to rotate onto receivers. This got exploited more than anything else in the game in my opinion.6) Making them respect the run? I was begging and pleading at JD through my television all first half to stop trying to open up the passing game by making them think we can run. We SHOULD HAVE made them understand, right from the first two series, that we can drive the ball with a passing game. That would have opened up the run. Trying to make them respect your weakness FIRST is only good when you are playing a team who, in their own psyche, thinks they are on your level. Penn State thought they were above us, even though they were saying all of the diplomatic things in the media. When it comes to a team like them, you NEED to make them respect your strength first, then you can exploit the defenses respect for your strength by going to other tools and spreading the field.7) Most of the stats indicated we should have been in this game all the way.Time of Possession: Akr 37:29 | PSU 22:31First downs: Akr 18 | PSU 13Passing: Akr 192 | PSU 2068) What hurt us? Penalties and turnovers. Actually, the turnover ratio wasn't that bad. 3/2 Penalties killed drives in the first quarter. Think about how close the game is statistically, and take those two big penaties. Game is even.

Now, I grant you, there's been some hopefull (and perhaps a tad blind) enthusiasm with UA fans, but these predictions are so embarassing (for you) that I promise you wont show your face around here tomorrow evening unless you can whip up some bullshit like "Oh, you know we were just trash talking" to defend your outrageous posts and not have to stick your tail between your legs. 84-0?
What a joke. 63-3 if Joe lets them play. Go to Rivals.com and check out the quality tha is going into Akron and PSU. There is a big, big difference. The score will be over 70 whether Joe lets them play or not. Maybe Akron will be able to score. There's two different quality teams here. It starts with the fans. Akron that averages less than 15k per game and about ready to be bounced to Div 1AA and PSU that will have 107,000+ tomorrow.Akron will be deafened by PSU fans, Blinded by PSU speed, and left speechless by the score. 84-0.Okay, you didn't get it. But, I'll use our words - "poor saps living in a dreamworld" Must be true. You wrote it, not me. Joe probably won't pull the starters in the second quarter because they then experience together. Not to play Akron, but to play ND next week. Unfortunately, Akron is the loser in the scenario, since pulling out the starters keeps the score reasonable. I'll give two score predictions:Joe pulls the starters in 2nd quarter: 42-12Joe lets them play: 63-3 -
I have watched 3 of the 4 preseason games and I have come to one conclusion:Frye is intentionally not playing well. Yeah, I know. Bull!
But i really think it's true, and I think the browns coaching staff wanted it this way. They told him, "the job is yours, get all your good reps in practice, because we aren't going to call any plays that show our hand while you are in".I know this defies the golden principle that preseason is for game preparation, but I think they are rationalizing it. I think that several series at game speed are good enough of "a look" for him to remind him of full speed gametime play, but they don't want to call real "strategy plays" that will show season opponent defensive coordinators how to prepare.I have reserved all judgement until game one against new orleans.I know the Browns are not a super bowl team, and Carthon normally doesn't have my favorite style of play calling, but I honestly think that this play calling this preseason while Frye is in and his performance is far less than competative by design.

If anything, I would have thought that their overall advantage is more in the size department more than speed. But what you are saying is that I should be hoping for more rain then, eh?

Ever since I saw the forcast track for the tropical storm a few days ago, I have been praying that it will get slowed down or sheered to the east.... but it's really starting to look like it's pretty much going to swamp the game.

Everything looked new?It definately wasn't always that way. In fact, this is avery recent phenomenon. When I was in high school, the UA campus was a bunch of buildings dispersed around city streets. They closed off Buchtel, but there was still a street running straight through campus (right next to the library, where the commons are now), even if cars were not driving on it, and there were wooden barricades.By the time I got there, the commons were in stalled (in most places), Buchtel was re-routed, but it still felt like an urban school with old buildings and a commuter atmosphere. After I left, "The Landscape for Learning" went into action. This has made a HUGE change in the atmosphere of the campus. Everything doesn't feel so gothic and dirty anymore. It really does feel like a nice university campus, and I think that they should do MORE along these lines to continue to grow. For one, I really hope they use the Central Hower Property to put in a complex of large dormitories. That would also go a long way to bringing students on to campus as well as modernizing campus life for those who stay there. Our family just visited our son on campus for the first time this past week end and really enjoyed the campus. He is a freshman on the football team and is really enjoying his time with Coach Fleming and the staff. My wife and I both graduated from Muskingum so to us the Akron campus is pretty big. Everything looks new which is one of the reasons why our boy chose Akron. -
I would like to see lots of WINNING.Yeah, the blowouts sound good. ... and unlike the pros, you don't have a lot of "lets not show them up" B.S., specially because of teh B.C.S. (lol, pun intended). But anyway, the same jugular mentality that can take the form of "let's not relax and learn bad habits" when we are up 34 points against Can't can also take the form of "10 points down at the half is freakin' nothing to overcome".... and that all adds up to more wins at the end of the season than not having the never ever say fukking die attitude while UP or DOWN in a game.

No, I heard Hamilton was No.1 in AZ last year.anyway, go Knights. Not sure about the AZ team but last year when Massillon played 3(?) DC teams they were all to build morale... sure it sounded good "oooo Massillon can beat teams from Washington DC!!!" but its pretty much the equivalent of Akron vs. Can't State... no contest -
I have no clue who it is, but of those on the sign, this is the order of likelyhood in my opinion based on the current economic situations of those companies, their advertising patterns, and hunch:First EnergySummaAcmeGoodyearFirst MeritCorporations like McDonalds and Pepsi wouldn't buy naming rights except potentially in a town where they are headquartered (and obviously, they aren't headquartered in Akron). Goodyear could for reasons along those lines, but their presence here isn't as strong as it once was, and their economic situation is rough. Although, I could see them doing it for pride (hell, the donated the rubber bowl back in better years, 5mill isn't so bad).I could have seen First Merit doing it a few years ago, but I think their economic situation is not the best it's ever been. Acme could very well do it, and they probably have the money and the hometown pride, but I see Summa and First Energy being more likely. First energy has the money for it. 5 mill? No problem. They advertise like mad! This is their HQ area.... and, they are always looking to pump their image, so buying naming rights to the stadium definately fits theri profile. In fact, if First Energy was smart, they would donate the extra 30 million needed to make it a domed stadium and sponsor a NCAA bowl game.lol, Summa stadium rolls of the tongue better though.
Acme Stadium!First Energy, Summa, or Acme?Thats even better than the RUBBER Bowl!

quick PS edit (see attached). If I wanted to do a better one, instead of painting in grass to cover the previous location of DK, I would have moved a lot of the players on the field instead of just him up a yard, but that would have taken longer.
