This does have a lot to do with it. Often a kid will be given an extra star if they sign with an OSU or Alabama, etc.

He doesn't have any other D1 offers, so the staff must think they've found a diamond in the rough. But Toledo has offered him a PWO, so Toledo is aware of him but didn't think he was worth a scholarship.
Do coaches ever give out scholarships to a marginal player as a way to ingratiate themselves to a particular coach? Idk. I'm just typing off the top of my head this a.m.
Anyway, MoJoe & Co. must think he's worth it & I'm gonna trust them. They must think he's better than Barberton's Cameron Macon, and I thought that kid was an absolute stud... but he hasn't been offered by anyone either (top end speed is likely the issue).
