  1. "Bubba has two points." Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap.
  2. Ouch. Jason Hickert is a RHP. Attack that recovery, Jason! πŸ™πŸ’ͺ
  3. These are slick
  4. Coach Oscar Rodriguez @CoachZoneEyes is quite active. Coach Tommy Zagorski @AkronCoachZ Coach Devin Jordan @CoachJordan82 Coach Deonte Gibson @Coach_DGibson ...are all pretty active on twitter. Especially Coaches Rodriguez & Z. (But a lot of it is family stuff & not necessarily related to Zips football.)
  5. Info coming out of the U concerning our football program?
  6. Today after 2 we were actually leading CMU 1-0. Ended up losing 15-2. πŸ™ƒ
  7. I went to parts of the Wittenburg & Grand Valley State games. It's actually really nice what they've done with the stadium setup. The bleachers behind the plate were closed both games I attended. But there is a hill all the way around the stadium from behind the home dugout wrapping around to right field & people can, and do, bring lawn chairs and watch the game through the fence all around the field. It's pretty cool. Baseball's a nice, relaxing game to watch. Perfect summer game. When the weather's nice & if the team becomes at least competitive, Skeeles Field has a lot of potential to be a nice place to catch a game.
  8. I don't have much of value to add to a JUCO recruiting discussion, but I'll add one potential name. Kyre Williams, former East QB & DB. I believe he originally verballed with the Zips (as a DB). He's currently at Iowa Western & has done rather well at S. He's fast & looks instinctive. It's also pretty clear that he enjoys contact & bringing the wood.
  9. Looks like Corey Thomas has been moved from S to OLB.
  10. Hey fellas, If you were putting together a group outing which game would you pick? Which game do you think will give Zips newbies the best experience? Sept. 11 -v- Temple Sept. 18 -v- Bryant, or Oct. 2 -v- Ohio?
  11. Umm, just a little FYI, @Zipmeister is a faaaaaaaar shot from a "youngin". πŸ˜‰
  12. The men's soccer team raised over 20K.
  13. Taylor Currie transferred to Harding University, a D-2 school in Arkansas.
  14. I was thinking the same. I suppose it adds up if each respective varsity sport is trying to raise 10K. But Idk if that's the case or not. Anyway, 10K for men's basketball sounds like something a high school would shoot for.
  15. Not exactly. You were referencing the rivalry between our basketball teams in my previous post. But the ideas are joined at the hip anyway. All of our rivalries are basketball-dominant. If fostering a rivalry was solely dependent on our rather pathetic football program, our only rival would be almost equally pathetic Kent. For a number of years our rivalry with Ohio was almost entirely a basketball rivalry which, over time, has naturally spilled over into all sports. The same can be said concerning Buffalo. Other than Kent, Toledo is our most geographically and demographically natural rival in the conference. But I totally get what you're saying. In a football-only scenario, UT's bringing much more to the table than we are. Certainly.
  16. You don’t detect the higher level of heat going in both directions from the basketball programs?
  17. I guess it's as simple as another rival. Another game to circle on their calendar every year. Presently I believe their only big rival is BUGS? Someone else may pose the same question to us regarding them when it turns to basketball season. But my answer would be the same - simply that rivalry games are fun. In basketball we already have an organic rivalry with UT. I just think our respective administrations should get off their butts and actively stoke it in all sports. (I guess if UT were in the MAC East it would take care of itself?)
  18. πŸ’― If you're going to schedule a P5 school schedule a bottom-half-tier P5 school - exactly like Wake's OOC scheduling. This year we're playing a perennial Top 10 and a perennial Top 3. Whoever scheduled those games, as my dad likes to say, should have their head examined. Edit: And once again, I've got to complement what you say about Toledo. I've been saying that for years. Why are we not intentionally stoking that natural, regional rivalry every year? Walsh & Malone have a Mayor's Cup basketball game, where the mayors of North Canton and Canton have some sort of wager riding on the game (I think the presidents of the two schools do as well). It's a lot of fun and the respective student bodies really embrace it. The more rivals the better. We have a rival I hate in Kent and two rivals I love to hate in OU & UB. Toledo is a natural rival which we are idiots for not fostering.
