  1. Zips win 7-1! Damn! Now that’s Akron futbol!!!
  2. Thank you! I just got home & wasn’t able follow the game. Go Zips!!
  3. I’m glad we’re getting this in prior to facing OSU on November 9.
  4. @LZIp, good catch concerning Coach Z's twitter page.
  5. Sounds like both Kato & Irons played well, as our #1 & #2. Ant & Jonzell were both back & sound like they've solidified their positions as #1 & #2. We've got quite a stable of QB's & RB's. And WR's for that matter, though the article doesn't mention them. Still looking forward to Dollard's return. An interesting tidbit... John Morookian, who came to the Zips in May as tight ends coach, assumed the role of offensive line coach, recently... Arth offered no comment for the coaching change. That means Coach Z has fallen down the ladder a bit on this staff. He was OL coach and OC. Then Bryan Gasser was promoted to OC & Coach Z's sole responsibility was OL. Now, Idk, tight ends coach?
  6. Lost a DT.
  7. Technically correct, but... a bit misleading. Bubba on defense & Kato on offense. But after those two it's all Arth recruits. [EDIT] ^^ @LZIp just beat me to the punch.
  8. Because excitement for the upcoming season is at a fervor pitch, this should help push everyone over the top! Go Zips!
  9. Yes, another good article. I wanna give the ABJ & GT credit when it is due.
  10. You are correct. Kato, DJ Irons, Ant Williams & Jonzell Norrils were absent. When asked exactly how many of his players were not on the field, Coach Arth offered a blunt assessment. "A whole lot," he said. "We're missing a lot of guys who are going to be starting and playing significantly for us this year." Arth wouldn't specify why the players were missing, but GT suggested it could be COVID. It must be. Apparently the reason is neither related to injury nor disciplinary.
  11. Malcolm Williams, DT, 6-2, 295, Butler CC, originally from Southridge HS, Miami, FL. It looks like originally signed with UCF out of high school.
  12. Really nice article by GT. Article focusses on the fact all signs point to Kato starting, but, as we were discussing Kato's maturation during his years with the Zips, GT ended the article with this very mature perspective and quote from Kato: Of course, there’s always the possibility he won’t be the starter. “I might be the lead guy. I might not,” he said. “That's what we like to do in the QB room, compete. Competing brings the best out of all of us, so you got to love it.”
  13. IIRC Kyle was picked Preseason 3rd Team All-MAC. Hope he has a good year. (Just not on October 23rd.) We just lost another Stow QB, Evan Bainbridge, to BUGS. (Not certain how hard we were honestly recruiting him, but we did offer a scholly.)
  14. So would have I. I've really enjoyed watching him mature during his years at UA. He's gone from being super-cocky to being an articulate, poised team leader. Impressive young man.
  15. Oops, sorry, man. NW filled you in. Dollard has to go before a council @ UA and they're not treating him differently just because he's an athlete. Dollard is going through with the process and Arth is proud of him for that. Neither Arth nor Guthrie have any say or sway in the process. He expects Dollard back, but it may not be at the beginning of the year. Until then Ant Williams, Jonzell Norills, and Cole Gest seem very capable of contributing at the position. Arth noted he appreciates Williams' and Norills' ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. That was the gist of the article.
  16. UA football team will have to wait on running back (Dollard), but there is depth (Williams, Norills, Gest)
  17. I like that he mentioned the DL as a position group which stood out. I’m also excited to Oran Singleton on the field. His HS highlight tape was laughably (in a good way) amazing.
  18. Oregon just offered Damani Dent. Hopefully he comes to where he’s highly coveted & can make an honest contribution straightaway. Go Zips
  19. ABJ: UA star running back enters diversion program for weapons charge, status with team unclear On twitter, Kato's dad (who probably knows more than UA's official statements) is confident Dollard will be in the backfield this season.
  20. I can't believe GoZips.com doesn't have our 2021 roster posted yet. Or can I?
