  1. To be fair to KD, someone is allowed to have a change of heart/mind. Akron is his dream job. I think him leaving for Duquesne should be a alarm clock for the U to do something drastic about the JAR. No more talky-talky. And thus far, TDM is the only Zip who's announced he's going to follow Dambrot to Duquesne, so it doesn't appear he's actively gutting the roster, as some have charged. Also, it doesn't appear Dambrot's attempting to lure away our lone HS recruit, Jayden Sayles, who is not already on campus. Parrish is already on campus and has developed some relationships (he's on spring break w/ Ivey, Eubanks & Poke) so I'd be surprised if he transfers out. KD is recruiting current HS juniors who he had been recruiting at Akron... but that only makes sense. I'm extremely grateful for what KD did here, but quite honestly, now I'm... This is the first I've posted in a KD-related thread in a few days. What I'm by far most interested in now is the Search for the next Head Coach thread!!! Go Zips!!!
  2. One of my dream scenarios is Dru-3 taking over the program one day, and this scenario would make sense chronologically. Hmm. Idk if Dru-2 is a good in-game coach or not. But recruiting is much more important than in-game adjustments. Plus, STVM lost to Trotwood-Madison by 39 earlier in the season but beat them in the state semi-finals. I'd say that's some serious and impressive adjustments being made by Dru-2 (granted, not in-game, but nonetheless). If not HC, I think it'd be great if Dru-2 (and eventually, Dru-3) were asked to be on the future staff. I think Willie McGee would make a great HC at STVM.
  3. This opens up plenty of room for... LePear Toles
  4. Even if his son doesn't play here I'm still loving Anthony Stewart.
  5. +1. I honestly thought we were going to win the MAC next year. But Antino was a key piece of the puzzle.
  6. Good point. The media should have brought a little heat like this years ago.
  7. "Dambrot had not learned the lesson of 2007. He seldom challenged himself or his team with his schedule." But this is a pretty egregious whoopsie... "Dambrot's lone regular season win over a Power-5 conference team was against Mississippi State in 2011."
  8. I retweeted. Power to the people
  9. Isn't that insane?! Ohio State's football team brings in enough to cover all that, right? OSU, along w/ what, like 2 other schools in the nation, break even, or even might make a profit off their athletics dept. Crazy.
  10. Thanks, Hilltopper. (Out of Likes.)
  11. So this, IYHO, Hilltopper, rules out Boals and Paris? Or were you simply referring to anyone on the current staff - Thomas, Wiegand, Mcfadden?
  12. Are Boals and Paris considered part of Dambrot's coaching tree, or is that going back too far?
  13. Pretty sure we are. I read it on one of the posted articles. But didn't Larry say he was taking the lead & the search firm was more or less to do background checks? Idk, it's been a whirlwind the last few days.
  14. It's true. They always are
  15. You're right. I was just thinking (typing) out loud I guess.
  16. They were talking about Terry on 1350 yesterday afternoon.
  17. I'd be excited about Anthony Stewart, Jeff Boals, or Lamont Paris. I think Chris Jent is also an intriguing prospect, but he was passed over by Cleveland State, so... ?
  18. Great points, all around. But I'll just say that universities football and basketball (and soccer at UA) teams are the faces of the university. Those two (three) teams are generally the only reason a local population pays attention to a school. I didn't attend UA (I had a tiny little athletics scholly to Malone) but I've been following UA since I was in high school b/c they wear "Akron" on their chests (I could never have competed at UA's level). Over the years I've given thousands of dollars to UA b/c of football & basketball. Sadly, I'll admit, not because of their world-class engineering programs. Again, not saying that's a good thing, but it is what it is. I know I can't be the only Akron-area resident who supports the U b/c it's Akron U. One pet peeve of mine: when I'm wearing a UA t-shirt & someone asks, "Oh, did you go to Akron?" When I used to wear Ohio State gear no one ever asked me, "Oh, did you go to Ohio State?" Oh, and let me add this, which I occasionally post: IMO there shouldn't even be an "Athletics" budget. Anything athletics related should be grouped under "Advertising/Marketing" b/c that's what D-1 athletics actually are.
  19. C'mon, man. Almost every school... even Walsh and Malone... know the importance of the men's basketball team to the university. I'm not saying it's necessarily a good thing that it's come to that, but it is what it is.
  20. Exactly. Given our opponents and the JAR, 99% of the people at Akron basketball games are total die hards who truly bleed blue & gold. The other 1% probably saw relatively slow basketball, against a team they'd never heard of, while torturing their backsides on wooden bleachers and won't be in a hurry to return.
  21. I'm thinking the same. He's a basketball fan & obviously seems to know the importance of the program. He's a sharp guy.
  22. I hope. Aim high. We're the premier program in the MAC. Keep it that way.
  23. Here's something... Cleveland dot com: Akron AD Larry Williams says Keith Dambrot replacement list is long
