  1. Idk, but now that you mention it, yeah, I'd bet they are! There's almost nothing I'd appreciate more than if the Akron Beacon Journal took the City of Akron and the University of Akron seriously.
  2. The 2016 McKinley grad who I do think could help us (though he's not a post player) is LePear Toles. He's Mr. Smooth. I love his game. LePear's 6'6" but I think he might be able to play PG. For 6'6" he's got really good handles. He spent a year in prep school at Fork Union Military Academy. Don't know if he's on our radar or not.
  3. I don't think so. Two years ago (Jordan's junior year) I saw Jordan play against Medina & Michigan recruit Jon Teske. Jordan more than held his own. He wasn't tall or particularly explosive, but he was strong as an ox, confident and very aggressive. By the end of the game Teske had gotten the better of him... but not by much. I was impressed. When I saw Jordan play on a handful of occasions his senior year (I went out of my way to watch him b/c he had verballed to Akron) Jordan acted like he was "too cool for school," ultra-nonchalant & looked almost completely disinterested. He had regressed. A lot. I wasn't impressed at all. Idk what happened to him but I'm 99% sure he's not coming to Akron. But the Jordan Davis I saw play as a senior wouldn't help us anyway.
  4. I dream of landing Jayvon Graves, Henry Badley, Jalen Hudson & JaKarr Sampson. I don't let my daydreaming go there because landing LBJ's sons would be too good to be true. Then again, the fact LBJ is from Akron is 1-in-7.5-billion
  5. Thanks for the insight. That hurts if true. Disappointing.
  6. Isaiah is from Dayton Stivers. He may have been thinking of 2016 McKinley grad Jordan Davis?
  7. ^^The "McKinley kid." Who are you referring to, Clark?
  8. No, we're trying to figure out if the STVM-UA relationship is indeed rocky. And if so, WTF?
  9. Idk, but VerbalCommits.com lists Eubanks as a walk on. Anyone know if that is accurate?
  10. Would anyone on here be thrilled with any of our assistant coaches taking over? Who's the best recruiter on the staff? Recruiting's 90% of the battle. We should do whatever possible to maintain the LeBron connection. I'm hoping KD hangs in there till Dru Joyce III might wanna take the reigns. Or... Jimmal Ball?
  11. STVM wins state championship behind Jayvon's 25 points & 6 rebounds. He also had a handful of assists, steals and, of course, thunderous dunks. He's getting a 10-minute, sit-down interview with the three analysts. He's a bright, humble young man. Oh, nice... now they're showing a lengthy game highlight reel... mainly of Jayvon. Way to represent AKRON, Jayvon!!! I feel nauseous...
  12. I'm watching the 2017 D-II state championship game & we've gotta keep an eye on sophomore G Lunden McDay. He's still thin, but he's 6'2' & hanging right in there w/ the upperclassmen. He starts for STVM (along w/ fellow sophomore Chris Painter), has a good handle w/ either hand, takes it to the hole & has a smooth stroke. He's getting down there & rebounding as well. Give him a few years to fill out & watch out! Get him KD! No excuses!
  13. Lord. Have. Mercy.
  14. You could be 100% correct. I was as excited about the Zips signing Josh as I am disappointed about losing out on Jayvon.
  15. Josh lost his confidence driving to the hole. He had a much more difficult time beating his man than he did in high school. He started simply hanging outside, waiting for the ball... after a while Josh wouldn't even hardly dribble the ball. He either wanted to catch-and-shoot or pass it. Even his outside shot was off this year. Seemed to really get in his head. In high school he could do whatever he wanted on the court. He just wasn't quick enough at this level. Graves on the other hand gets to the rack.
  16. Hilltopper, I hope your emoticon signifies "There's no way in hell Josh's transfer could possibly effect our incredibly strong relationship w/ STVM." Because it could be interpreted as, "Forget about it, the relationship already sucks & you just have no idea." Which are you going for there? I ask because STVM is not the pipeline I wish it were & it's had me scratching my head for a while.
  17. You might be right but, boy, I hope not. Jayvon & Josh are very different players. Josh pretty much turned into a one-trick-pony 3-ball shooter whereas Jayvon is an athletic, slashing guard (which we desperately need more of).
  18. I also saw a nice deep sideline catch by Kwadarius Smith. Jamal Davis is going to help turn this year's D around. Brandon Mitchell has to be the WR who we think is mistakenly listed at 6'2", right? Wasn't it posted somewhere on here that he's 6'7"? He looks a lot taller than 6'2" in that clip.
  19. Amen. Best of luck, Josh! You'll always be a Zip!
  20. I'm not terribly surprised. I love Josh & know he was excited about being a Zip. But he's just a half-step too slow for this level. I hope he goes somewhere, gets lots of PT, has much success & is happy. Have fun playing ball! It's just a game.
  21. I'd love to play either GT or Illinois. Those schools are D-1 aristocracy. Maybe the best of the best look down on them, but 95% of NCAA schools would consider those to be solid wins.
