  1. Good call. I was disappointed Tracy Jordan didn't receive anything more than Honorable Mention in D-III. This guy really passes the eyeball test & looks like a true man among boys out there. Idk, but it has to make me question his motor.
  2. Nathan Rourke, JC QB, 6-2, 210 Recruiting him to backup & push Woody next year. Hope we land him, or we'll only have 2 viable QB's on the roster. The way he talks, it definitely sounds like the coaches are planning on moving TC5 to another position next year. Being JUCO, he'd have 4 years to play 3.
  3. Marla: Zips rebound from disastrous October, host Villanova in NCAA's first round Another great article by Marla. She discusses the team's rough adjustment period follow the dismissal of Suoto.
  4. Zips looking to shore up defensive performance on eve of home opener For Dambrot, the key to fixing that situation is simple. “Splinters,” he said, suggesting players will be on the bench if they’re not performing up to expectations on the defensive end. “If you don’t hold them accountable that’s what happens. If you have to win 60-58 to prove a point, that’s what you have to do.” While I don't want to watch any 60-58 games, something has to be done to shake the team up after that sleepwalking session at YSU.
  5. That's 2 consecutive years that Reggie Corner Jr.'s been named NEO Inland District defensive POY in D-1. That's truly impressive!
  6. Zach DiLauro, 5-11, 205 lb. junior LB Made 1st-Team All-NEO Inland District, DIII Linky
  7. Still can't believe Miami is in the running for Detroit. The MAC East sucks.
  8. Crack ABJ Zips' beat reporter GT knows how to copy and paste from GoZips.com
  9. I think they were picked next to last in the Horizon. But they can really shoot the ball.
  10. Tonight Toledo beat YSU 103-98 in OT. Game was in Toledo.
  11. UA Basketball Inks Two During Early Signing Period
  12. Oh, never mind. We can't win the East even if OU loses. I'm an idiot
  13. It does sound like a couple whiffs. Which you expect, actually. No one bats 1000. But that's why I thought recruiting one QB per recruiting class was standard. And I don't think we've done that. I could be mistaken. I'm on my phone so can't easily double check that.
  14. Halftime CMU 17 OU 3
  15. 2Q CMU 10 OU 0
  16. I haven't heard anything. But if I were Coach Bowden, I'd be giving all 1st team practice reps to Tyrell Goodman this week. I don't trust Woody to be healthy for an entire game.
  17. UA men's soccer: Zips will host Villanova in first round of NCAA tourney
  18. ^^ I'll bet you're right. I've been wondering for years how the Rep hangs on.
  19. Dr. Z! There were 111,111 replies in the football forum and you ruined it! It was beautiful for those of us who are mildly OCD! But... now I can reply in the football forum again. Yes, the placekicking game's been great & has turned what was a big ? at the beginning of the season into a strength.
  20. I'm going to copy and paste a post I wrote in another thread. I actually started a thread called, "So... is the Beacon Journal going bankrupt, or what?" It's in the General UA & Campus Discussions thread. The links here won't work, you'll have to click over to the original post for working links. ... We know the Zips coverage is laughable from the ABJ. They've got a D-1 university across the street and don't seem capable of giving them reasonable coverage. Here is the ABJ article from last night's UA-v-YSU game. It's a "Beacon Journal staff report" because... you know... Youngstown is so far away they couldn't be expected to actually send anyone to cover the game. Ohio.com's Akron -v- Youngstown State game coverage Now look what the ABJ (Ohio.com) offered for last night's Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban football playoff game in comparison to what Cleveland.com did. There is no comparison, really. Ohio.com's Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban coverage Cleveland.com's coverage of the Akron STVM -v- Akron Hoban game Cleveland.com has a game story, and focusses on a Hoban player (a human interest story?! The Beacon Journal has forgotten that those used to be a thing.) and 9... 9!... 9!!!... nine!... nine!!... NINE... NINE... NINE!!! videos!!! The Beacon sports (lack of) coverage has insulted and upset me for years. But now I'm just worried about Akron actually having a news source at all.
  21. Hustle Belt: Did Akron play themselves out of a bowl game?
  22. The first good news about Zips football in a month. At least our holder is pretty decent
