  2. Help me out. To win the MAC East, do only our MAC East games count. Or do all MAC games count? (I know that of course all games count toward bowl eligibility, which is the big prize for our program right now. So yes, BIG game this weekend v Ball State! Get better, Tommy.)
  3. Yep. What's the saying? Oh, yeah, "He can cry all the way to the bank."
  4. ^^Oops, right, right. Thanks!
  5. I'm surprised they fired him in the middle of the season. Hazzell's a good coach, but Purdue is just a sucky job. The B1G is an interesting conference with some extremely powerful "haves," and some extremely weak "have nots." I hope Fleck is patient and picks a gig where he can be truly successful.
  6. Of the three big DT transfers we've had over the last 3 seasons (what's his name from Florida State... Rodney Coe from Iowa State... & now Jelani Hamilton from Miami), Jelani's been the least productive. By far. We really needed him to be a 1st Team All-MAC type of performer this season to take some of the burden off of our inexperienced LB's & that really hasn't come close to happening. For someone who's 6-5, 305 from the University of Miami, I was expecting more. And Antonio Pittman is, IMHO, really underperforming. He's almost never in on the action. I believe I remember him getting his name called once last night? He's having what I'd consider a very underwhelming senior season. Oh, well. Our front 7 is radically different than it was last year & I guess we're just gonna have to take our lumps this season.
  7. Haha. Exactly. I was going to ask, "Is that a good thing?" At least the players could probably envision themselves getting playing time early in their careers.
  8. Welcome to ZipsNation! 1) Yeah, I hear you. Idk if the coaches know TC5's psyche is fragile as glass, or what. But if you watched the Zips last year, many on this board thought they stuck w/ TC5 far too long last year as well. Woody didn't get any PT last year until our 3rd game, IIRC. 2) That might be a really good way of putting it. 3) TC5 looks like he'd be a killer RB. W/ TC5 lining up @ RB would afford us plenty of opportunities for a little trickeration. But I agree. Next year. With Kato playing QB next year, we won't need TC5 backing up Woody. I'm just crossing my fingers for Woody to get healthy. TC5's a nice backup, but we're going nowhere this season if Woody can't go. I'm nervous about these next few weeks. The program's on the rise, but we could fall back into obscurity very easily if Woody doesn't lead us.
  9. The outcome W-L wise would have most likely been the same, but the tone of the game could have possibly been quite different with those calls. They were big. On the Zips very first possession there was an obvious hold on JoJo over the middle. A ref was looking right at the play. It was a well-thrown ball by TC5 and would have at least been a first down... if JoJo catches it cleanly, perhaps much more. And the negated INT by DeAndre Scott was a definite kick in the balls. Again, the final outcome wouldn't have been different. But we couldn't afford WMU to jump on us early and that's exactly what happened. Those two calls were pretty big in helping that happen. (From where I was sitting I couldn't say anything about the spot on 4th down.)
  10. Excellent work, Dr. Z!
  11. Question #2... we should have had two or more.
  12. ABJ post-game story. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-football-undefeated-western-michigan-broncos-hammer-zips-41-0-1.719544 GT points to TC5 getting stuffed on 4th-and-1 from our own 45-yard line, w/ WMU already up 21-0, as when he knew the game was over. I agree. WMU took over on downs & marched 45-yards for the TD (missed extra point), but after that I wasn't hoping to win any longer, I was just hoping not to get further embarrassed. (How'd that work out for me?)
  13. I really hope that's not the case because, while at the game today, I found my self a little frustrated with Woody for not playing. Especially for such a big game, on such a beautiful fall afternoon & with a pretty decent crowd at The Info. But it is a perplexing situation, that he was a last-second scratch at K.e.nt & then isn't ready to go even 3 weeks later? Weird.
  14. We got manhandled across the fronts today. But it would've been a much more competitive game if TW4 would have played. We would've put the ball in the end zone a couple times, have had fewer turnovers & would have kept the ball out of WMU's hands a bit more.
  15. Ugh. Guiser's got his arm in a sling
  16. Oh, yeah, I had forgotten the Akron Browns Backers were in attendance today. Oh, well, at least they're used to games like this.
  17. Wow. This is embarrassing.
  18. I appreciate going for it but... If WMU scores here it's over.
  19. Nice crowd here today to see this too. Lower west stands are pretty full
  20. We can't afford to let WMU get off to a fast start. My fear is a 14- WMU lead before we get our feet under us. The longer we hang in there the more I like our chances. Go Zips!!
  21. Even if TW4's good to go, think we might start TC5 anyway? See how he does? Even if TW4's ready to go, he's gonna be a little rusty & TC5's played so well lately maybe he deserves to start? Just trying to get a little conversation going to pass the time till kick off. Can't wait!!!!!!
  22. The weather couldn't be any nicer!
  23. Marquise had a tough game against Buchtel last night. He finished with 133 yards but needed 33 carries to get there. It was kinda funny to watch (the difference between high school and college ball) as Buchtel didn't use a safety all night and generally had 9 guys in the box to key on Marquise. They played Ellet's WR's 1-on-1 all night with no safety. Ellet lined up a few times with 2 TE's & on those occasions Buchtel had all 11 in the box. It was funny to see - they looked like goal line plays, though Ellet was at mid field. Lol.
