  1. Jake and Reggie have been great. Since they both played starters' minutes even as true freshmen, it feels like they've been here forever. They're consummate student-athletes & have been simply excellent ambassadors for UA & great leaders in the locker room. Their character, maturity, hustle & basketball IQ, not to mention outside shooting, will be missed.
  2. Can't wait to see this WR corps doing work: Jerome Lane Mykel Traylor-Bennett Austin Wolf Kevin Gladney JoJo Natson Anthony Young Michael Means Richie Cooper A.J. Coney Tyrell Goodman That is called being stacked!
  3. Nice Spring Ball article by GT. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-football-zips-face-five-key-question-as-spring-practice-begins-1.669021
  4. There was a 3-game (ish?) stretch there where Kwan was focused on banging down low & playing defense. Our team was a buzzsaw when Kwan was playing that way. Then Kwan, again, had some success from behind the arc & seemed to naturally drift back behind the 3-point line & we've been struggling since. None of our wins over K.en.t, EMU or BUGS were things of beauty, and it finally bit us in the butt against a good team like Buffalo. If we want to beat OSU tonight we need Kwan to man up & own the paint.
  5. Right. KD was saying he enjoys having the luxury of a player like Big Dog who, when double-teamed is a good passer & does a good job of finding the open man.
  6. Right. It's just a way of saying since Pat's injured he doesn't wear the uniform for the game. He's in regular clothes on the bench. No player dreams of finishing out their career that way.
  7. We're definitely going to be more athletic next season. Better? Ehhhh... that remains to be seen. But undoubtedly more athletic. Losing: Jake, Reggie, Pat Gaining: Daniel Utomi, Isaiah Williams, Craig Eubanks, Tavian Dunn-Martin, Emmanuel Olojakpoke. I'm also excited to see what The Warrior Peter Agba and Big Mike Hughes can do. (Though I'm expecting Dunn-Martin [along with Jordan Davis] to be redshirted.)
  8. They should. I believe this is the second year they've been wearing "New York" on their chests.
  9. http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/20160310/fat-boy-comes-up-big-for-pups I've been seeing Jordan Davis consistently listed at 6'8" now. His stats are underwhelming, but I've seen McK play a few times this year and they're so guard-oriented they often don't do a very good job of getting Davis the ball down low.
  10. Game story from GT http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/ua-men-s-basketball-top-seeded-zips-advance-to-mac-tournament-title-game-with-80-66-victory-over-bowling-green-1.668483

  12. Gotta jump on them early. They're playing well right now with two upsets in a row. Gotta take their confidence away and establish that this game is going to end just like every other game against Akron.
  13. Next year you'll get two. Daniel Utomi. Isaiah Williams.
  14. That's what KD's been able to do with the basketball program. The b-ball Zips are all proud to be Zips & love being on the team.
  15. Jayvon Graves is a Class of '17 guard at STVM. He's a good 6'2" is a fantastic athlete and has a complete game. Does any insider know whether the Zips are pursuing Jayvon? I found this quote in an article about STVM: "Graves is a guard with scholarship offers from Kent State, Ohio University, Toledo, Northern Kentucky, Cleveland State and DePaul."
  16. I hope he continues to develop & have fun playing football. But the odds of him (or anyone) getting a D-1 scholarship are slim-to-none. Just my 2 cents, but I wouldn't put too much additional pressure on him. Right now he looks like he weighs 80 pounds. There is a big high school around here named Canton McKinley. McK produces quite a few college athletes. McK's head football coach said, "If you want to play college football, I can help you with that. If you want to play D-1 college football, God has to help you with that." Some kids are blessed with great genes; the vast majority aren't.
  17. Dru Joyce III. Akron's next head basketball coach
  18. I remember those years with Jimmal Ball, Bosley, Andrick, Kwanza, George Phillips, etc. Those were some of my favorite teams. Ever. Our starting five were better than K.e.n.t's, but Kent ran 10-deep swapping out two complete rotations at a time. I remember with about 10-minutes to go in one of those games, during a timeout huddle, Jimmal Ball was clearly gassed (but simply couldn't come out of the game) & K.e.n.t rotated in a fresh 5 players. You could tell Jimmal was worried. Dramatic stuff!
  19. Great article by GT. Love & respect all three of these guys! Proud they wear AKRON on their chests. http://www.ohio.com/sports/zips/university-of-akron-men-s-basketball-high-character-zips-seniors-closing-out-home-careers-1.666200
