Looks like I'm the only person keeping this thread on life support, but if you want to check out one of KD's favorite arenas, turn to STO where BGSU is at Eastern Michigan. KD loves the EMU Convocation Center. 8,000-seat (all chair-back) basketball facility. Btw, EMU has a 7-footer in their starting lineup.

2 wins would DOUBLE our total from last year! That's an increase of 100%! Having said that, 4 wins would make me very happy. I don't want to get too greedy. If we weren't so unimaginiably abominable and entirely uncompetitive last year, I'd say we have an extremely favorable schedule. However, we were soooo bad last year, I'm only expecting to win 2 games - Morgan State & UMass. Anything else will be gravy. Here is my absolutely best case scenario: UCF - L FIU - W Morgan State - W (our first above .500 record in years!) Tennessee - L Can't - W (Coach Bowden will have our guys sky high for this one) Ohio - L Temple - L Toledo - L Buffalo - W (though they simply had their way with us last year) Miami - W NIU - L UMass - W Final record: 6-6. Bowl eligible, baby!

My quick $0.02. I think this will be the biggest deciding factor. Eli may not even have to do much but "manage the game," this time around.

Give him the night off. We shouldn't need Rico -vs- CMU. Get Deji some PT.

I want to see the Zips bring the hammer down early, with their starters, before the bench bunch even takes off their shooting jackets. Let's control a game from tip-off to final horn for a change - like we did against Mississippi State. Here is George Thomas' article for the Akron Beacon Journal. Not much new here, but, with this game there's probably not really a lot to say. If the Zips play hungry, I'm picking a 20-point Zips win. (Of course, CMU may make the final score a bit closer as Akron finally gets to play their real bench - Egner, Deji, Kyle & C.J.) And finally, just for kicks, this quote from GT's article doesn't make any sense: "During the current losing streak, the Chippewas are averaging just 59.4 points, anemic by any standard, but especially so in the Mid-American Conference's grind-it-out style of hoops."

Thanks for putting that list together! Given Coach Bowden's time frame, I'm resigned to the fact that our class will be relatively weak this year (at least he has some quality players coming in. It looked like iCoach was on pace to only have about 10 recruits). But what really surprises me is that WMU & Ohio don't have more 3-stars verballed.

I'm excited about McAdams. But I really must say, besides Melo, the other two seem more like KD recruits, as opposed to KD2.0 recruits.

I haven't heard an update. I do know he is ineligible to play in Ohio this year, due to his playing @ West Virginia's Huntington Prep. (What a stupid move that was.) He was looking into Firestone before he was ruled ineligible. It's too bad; with Payne on that team they'd be a state title contender.

That's interesting. I see it's against West Virginia. I like it! Get us some extra publicity down in Canton. That'll be a huge deal for Canton. Very cool. I've tossed around the idea for a while now that we should play one basketball game a year in the Canton Memorial Fieldhouse. Kinda make Canton our home away from home. Get that city associating w/ UA.

Now that would be a great location for a new arena; fronting Exchange & next to Cub Cadet Field. Make Canal Park the baseball team's permanent home. On the few occassions there may be a conflict with the Aeros, play @ St. V/M or Summit Lake Park.

I take back most of what I stated above. I don't love our particular shade of grey, and I don't hate it. But I love the shade of grey Nike's chosen for these select uni's! They're sweeeeet! Yahoo! article. Slideshow. Totally sick! The shade of grey chosen is a more bold, distinct shade of grey than ours. Again, like Oklahoma State or Washington State's shade of grey. Anyhow, I like the grey uniforms for a few reasons. 1. I like grey. 2. I like alternate uni's. 3. Baseball has always had grey uniforms. 4. Blue, gold & grey is a sharp combo! (When I say gold, I always mean old gold, never yellow!) 5. If adding grey to a school's uniform becomes as commonplace and acceptable as adding black, then basically Columbus State's colors are now just red & white!

This should go in the "Most random references to Akron" thread but I don't know how to find it and have a headache so don't even want to look for it. But... There are two Zippy bobbleheads on the desk of ESPN's Mike & Mike show. One right in front of Golic & another to Greeney's far right.

I'm still disappointed that this year's recruiting class didn't have a post player to help ease the loss of Nic. Last season we were all crossing our fingers Nic would return for another year because we all knew how sparse our numbers were in the post. Nic's return gave us an additional year to bolster our frontcourt through recruiting and we failed to do so.

One article posted on ZNO said it was McFadden.

If that's the case then it's a wise move on KD's part. Learn to pick your battles.
