  1. Versus Eastern Michigan, courtesy of the Akron Beacon Journal. Tree's picture is #8. He is shredded beyond belief and ready to absolutely tear the rim off.
  2. This is a healthy and realistic goal. Of course we want to be on the top of the totem pole, period, in the Akron area. Columbus State should be regarded as sucking it around here. The rest of the state? Obviously they won't feel that way. That's fine. Cleveland? Never. The Cleveland media would never allow Akron to be taken seriously, as long as it is in their power.
  3. Urban Meyer left Florida because Tim Tebow's eligibility had expired and he saw an Alabama/LSU rising on the horizon. There will be much less pressure at Columbus State than there was with the big boy's in SEC country.
  4. Great job! KD mentioned the large, enthusiastic crowd during his postgame interview.
  5. Concerning 'Cuse: We did very well. Considering Syracuse often runs a zone defense themselves, and we don't, they're obviously more familiar with how to face a zone than we are. It wasn't pretty at times, but we won by 30! Concerning attendance: I have our church's youth basketball league literally all day (8 a.m. - 6 p.m.) so I don't often get to make the Saturday games (Trevor Weigand, Terry Weigand's son, plays in the league btw), but I got home about half an hour before the tip & was able to watch online. The crowd looked great on the computer! Sounded great too! Well done!!
  6. Isn't that layout great?! I don't think the building's exterior is very attractive, but the seating is perfect for basektball. Tweaking it a bit, I'd say: 1) Add a hanging jumbotron scoreboard, 2) Add a loge level below the upper level, and, 3) Continue the seating around the corner where they have it interrupted (for their scoreboard) which would likely bring the seating to around 10,000 which, IMHO would be ideal.
  7. Lucky. Honestly, my initial feed was perfect; no problems whatsoever. However, my computer battery died, so I had to plug in and log on again. And when I had logged back on my feed was starting and stopping and jumping forward like others had been complaining of. Weird.
  8. Neither Egner nor Deji got into the game, did they? I'm thinking no. Is that weird?
  9. The mayor was at the game tonight. He was sitting on the east side, lower bowl, center court. I wasn't at the game; just watching online. But they had the camera on him during a timeout.
  10. THIS FEED SUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!! DOES NO ONE CARE OR ARE THEY SIMPLY POWERLESS TO DO BETTER BECAUSE OF THEIR ALMOST TOTAL INCOMPETENCE?!?!?! [edit:] AND HOW CAN THEY SO CONSISTENTLY FORGET TO TURN THE VOLUME BACK ON AFTER TIMEOUTS?!?! WHO ARE THESE CLOWNS?!?!
  11. Today, at 2:00 on ESPN2, Temple is playing at Rhode Island. Check out Rhode Island's basketball arena -the Ryan Center. It's a beautiful, 7,657-seat facility. Not a bad seat in the house; all right on top of the action.
  12. Oh, right, Geneva on the Lake. Up there; my bad.
  13. A game or so in Geneva? What's going on down there?
  14. I'm almost positive the floor of the JAR is not large enough for a hockey-size rink, even if you'd run it catty-corner. I think many would be surprised how much larger a hockey rink is than a basketball court.
  15. 6-2?!?! SPANK!!! This is exciting news. How many people would you say were in attendance overall? 150? 200? I don't want to get ahead of myself, but simply in the spirit of visionary thinking (daydreaming?) could you imagine how great it would be to have a competitive NCAA Men's Hockey progrum on campus? Talk about adding to the student's quality of life - not to mention the surrounding community, of which I am a part. Football, soccer, basketball, baseball (when RR gets that progrum turned) and hockey?! A nice, intimate 1000-seat hockey arena on campus, near Exchange, easily accessible to downtown, open skating after the games. UA would be the place to be... year around!
  16. For a strong team, there are a lot of W's to be had in the MAC.
  17. We should watch that tape to see what they did to slow down UT's Rian Pearson. I believe the guy's only a sophomore. We get the privilege and joy of facing him two more times. And to your second point, yes. If they can slow down Pearson, they can slow down Q. Here's to seeing how Q reacts tonight.
  18. +1. Ever.
  19. Ah, right. Thank you. Yeah, good grief, the # 5 seed has to do battle three times just to get the right to face the rested #1 seed in the semis. Ouch! Here's to hoping Can't gets the #5!
  20. Correct. Only two wins are necessary for seeds #1 & #2. Three wins required for seeds #3 & #4. Four wins necessary for seeds #5 & #6. Not earning one of the top four seeds really puts you behind the 8 ball.
  21. Nice bracket! We should pin that MAC Tourney bracket and update it once or twice a week. If Can't breaks into the number 4 spot, I'd be a little nervous facing them, as we may have a little rust to shake off come our first game. I really like this format, as it puts due weight on the regular season. If you are outside the top 4 seeds, you'd have to win four games in 4 days to win it all.
  22. I hope the game is not embarrassingly slow. I no longer invite guests to the Miami games because they're so painful to watch. With the momentum UA has right now, there mayy be a really nice crowd atbthe game with some Joe Akrons attending their first Zips game. If EMU makes it SLOW, BORING game I'll be ticked.
  23. EMU is tough. Since MAC play began they've added a 7' center to their roster. He is a transfer from Syracuse (kid hails from Detroit) and he's definitely a defensive stopper. He's athletic, movea his feet and arms very well, and definitely passes the eyeball test (at least he sure did on tv). I'm looking forward to seeing how Zeke matches upmwith someone his own size! Go Zips!!
  24. Thanks for clearing that up for us, and welcome to ZipsNation!! Go Zips!
  25. Exactly. Coach Terry Bowden, on top of already being one of the single most recognizable college coaches in the entire nation, now has even more of an embarrassment of riches at this university. The campus, the fieldhouse, the stadium. And now Jim Tressel. Coach Bowden has the luxury of simply utilizing JT like an ace up his sleave; just pull him out on occasion to impress some upper echelon Ohio recruits. (I don't know if any out-of-state recruits would really care much about meeting JT?)
