KD still rides Nic & McClanahan in crunch time. He obviously doesn't want to make an issue of their struggles. KD's said in the past (concerning free throw shooting) that sometimes the worst thing you can do is talk about a situation. So he doesn't point out free throw struggles, he just has the team practice them during the natural course of practice. He doesn't want it to get into their heads that, "Man, I'm no good at free throws!" This must be what he's doing with Nic & B-Mac. Neither of them are helping the team at all right now. Hopefully KD's strategy works & they keep their confidence up & snap out of their respective funks. (Nic, IMHO, needs a bit of coaching & needs to be told to get his 6'8" 240 lbs. down in the paint.) If they don't snap out of it, KD will probaby severly limit their PT (especially B-Mac's) during the MAC Tourney. Maybe even sooner (OU, K.e.nt & Buffalo) if KD is serious about winning the MAC East & getting the #1 seed.

STO's Steve Mix also stated last night that he didn't think OU was a very good road team. It kinda surprises me because John Groce seems like such a fiery competitor.

Watching the pregame show on STO w/ Reghi & Mix & I'm glad they're giving a lot of credit for Akron's hot streak to Gilliam. I think Gilliam is a big key to our success. We need a confident Gilliam on the court to reach our full potential. I think it's taken a while for Gilliam to get his swagger back after leading the team in scoring over the summer in Canada. We need that Chauncey on the floor against WMU tonight, and against ORU, Ohio, Can't, Buffalo, in the MAC Tourney & to go anywhere in the Big Dance. Man, just typing that last sentence reminds me of the fun we're in for over the next month!!

Unfortunately, for this move, we are dependent on Cleveland tv actually covering us. This should give us many sleepless nights. I don't think they would, for they never have. It means they would be required to validate something in the region outside of Cleveland. In the past they've always refused to do that.

I kinda like WMU (but I vacation near there every summer, so I'm biased) but I do know what you mean. There is a lot of dead weigh in the conference as it stands presently. The three you mentioned (though it might be good to keep one school from Michigan, i.e., WMU ) as well as IMHO, Bowling Green and Can't State. K.e.nt is a pickle right now because they've been so good in basketball. However, SIX schools from Ohio?! That's just way too many. Four is plenty - Akron, Ohio, Miami & Toledo. (Frankly, I wouldn't mind dropping Miami.) As far as Marshall goes, I miss our rivalry with them. They were another school I loved to hate.
