  1. +1. Middling OOC and sweep the MAC = you're the talk of ESPN's College Gameday every day in November. Of course they'd be talking about why you don't deserve a BCS bid, but the talking heads would be talking about you none-the-less. You'd also be water-cooler talk for every college football fan in the country.Oh, yeah, and you'd likely be selling out your stadium.
  2. We've been jealous of UT's recruiting classes for at least the past two years, perhaps, IIRC, that past 3. We're now seeing the fruits of those labors (wow, does that sound nerdy). And btw, I was watching the futbol match, so I didn't see what happened to UT's starting QB. Anyone know why he's not in there?
  3. Good investigative reporting, DiG!
  4. Clayton Moore a.k.a. LR8 talks about the transition from JUCO to DI-A.
  5. That's a shame. He was QB @ Columbus when I was a little kid. My dad was an O$U fan & would take us to 1 game a year. Seeing Art's name takes me back to my childhood. He's got a legit gambling addiction & honestly, it's good he's going to get put away for a while - he's one of those poor souls who literally needs saved from himself. Sad.
  6. Then can we count on any UberZips in the future?Well I don't think I created any UberZips in those pursuits, but i guess one never knows .But seriously, my wife was a college track runner at a smaller school. Hopefully our genes will combine to create some UberZips. And my kids will have no choice btw... if they are good athletes, they are going to be Zips.Good man.
  7. I had to think about this one for a while. I believe our kicker for kickoffs, Kevin Ivasku, wears #36 and he did in fact make a tackle on one of the kickoffs. That's probably the confusion. That's right. He got run over. My friend said, "Whoa!" when the Temple KR ran him over, but to save face I added, "Yeah, but that was the kicker."
  8. I agree wholeheartedly, but too late for that now. And, hello K.e.n.t!
  9. I've got goosebumps!
  10. Ugly, ugly, ugly
  11. Ooh, I'd bet theyd both fare better than that. Especially Temple. Temple is tough! I'm betting they give Penn State all they can handle this weekend. Toledo, however? Well, I'm expecting them to get blown out by Boise. I think Boise is that good.
  12. Nice to see us going one-for-one w/ Pitt!We should have been stoking this rivalry for a long time now.
  13. I believe in altruism.But I don't believe Tressel's motives were altruistic.Then you are even more optimistic then I.
  14. Yesssss! Basketball news!!!
  15. Oooh!!! That's just before I started following Akron closely. I would have LOVED to have seen that!I began following Akron closely during the final year of the Faust era, when both they and Ohio were 0-10 (0-fer the season) and played each other the final game of the year. The Zips won -IIRC- behind a stellar performance by QB Brian Maggarell (sp?).I really became excited about Akron football when Lee Owens took over and promised to recruit the best local talent. His first year he landed Julius Lancaster (SS - McKinley), almost landed Kinta Mitchell (LB - McKinley) and landed stud high school QB Willie Spencer (Massillon), (that was super-stud Antoine Winfield's senior year). So I was really optimistic about the future of Akron football.
  16. I recall a motion in the late 90's to contract Can't-Stark because it was so close in proximity to UA; drive another 10-minutes(ish) north & you're on UA's campus. Though it never came to pass, I was all for it. I've always felt Can't-Stark was a Can't State low blow to UA - putting that branch right on Interstate 77 about ten-minutes south of campus. I'd love to see those 4000 students drive another 10 minutes & go to a real school.
  17. Tulloch is a beast... he makes two of Mattocks. He also has 8 goals already... But we shouldn't have any trouble scoring without him... once we gel.Why did he transfer out?A short article on Tulloch the other day - McKauly Tulloch brings experience, goalsThanks for the link. Nice article. You can tell that Tulloch really enjoyed, and feels he benefited from, his time here. He obviously just wanted to go somewhere he'd get more PT.

  21. Holy crap. Walsh would outdraw the Zips.
  22. ...the darkness is closing in...
