  1. Sorry, I'm not defending today's performance, but 5 years ago, Brookhart looked just as pathetic if not moreso in the blOSU game...screen pass, screen pass, screen pass, punt...blOSU shitty possession...screen pass, screen pass, screen pass, punt...blOSU shitty possession...repeat until halftime, with an Akron safety and a blOSU field goal thrown in there somewhere in the first half. Then it was screen pass, screen pass, screen pass, punt...Akron repeat until, thank Heaven, the game ended...with 2 blOSU td's and 1 FG thrown in there somewhere. I agree. As bad as our O looked today, it was better than the last time we played Columbus. However, I do think we should have definitely taken quite a few more shots down field.
  2. Bringing Nicely in was most likely the coaching staff's way of throwing in the towel; clearing the bench. Columbus, however, didn't oblige, as is customary, and kept blitzing.
  3. Thanks, GP1.
  4. Hey, now. Let's see what the 2nd half holds (though I think the heat & Columbus' greater depth will make the 2nd half worse than the 1st.). 21-0 at the half after the attrocious season we just had? If real money were on the line, I would have bet that it would've been worse. Though I can't argue that I wish he would have gone for it on 4th down. But, maybe this is a sign of maturity that he's not going for broke int he 1st half and playing Columbus just like he's play any othet game - i.e., smartly?
  5. Basically the entire nation is going to be watching this game. I've got Time Warner and the only competing games are: FSN: Miami-O -vs- Mizz ESPN2: Utah State -vs- Auburn BTN: Indiana State -vs- Penn State
  6. Temple - 42 Villanova - 7 Jeesh. Didn't 'Nova win the D-1A National Championship last year?
  7. Thanks for the clarifications! And I hope you all know I wasn't bitching. I am just pretty computer illiterate!
  8. These videos are great! One minor concern - are we "stealing" hits from GoZips.com by posting the video here? I don't know how that sort of thing works, but I do want the UA athletics department to realize how appreciated these videos are, and they may not think anyone cares to watch the videos if they're not getting any hits for them on their website?
  9. 1. (1995) Willie Spencer throwing a TD w/ maybe 10 seconds left to pull the Zips to w/in 3 of 14th-ranked Virginia Tech @ the Rubber Bowl. 2. Dennis Kennedy's TD -vs- NC State. 3. The entire Cincy game in our last year @ The Bowl. Just a hard-hitting, excellent all-around game. -OR- Stuffing Beanie for a safety & going into half-time only down 3-2 to Columbus.
  10. Very cool. Thanks for this. I have NEVER been in an atmosphere like that before. UNBELIEVABLE student support. FANTASTIC experience. Will be back for the tournament in a couple of weeks and will be in LA this weekend to support the guys. Hey students, let's see that kind of support for the men's basketball team @ the JAR!
  11. Maybe iCoach wants to give Tyler Williams a redshirt year to develop more of a man's body? He is pretty slight. Idk. Just a thought.
  12. Who on earth made that?! It's great!
  13. That was excellent! Very well done. Thank you! Go Zips!
  14. Could be half of the Bottom Ten next week!!
  15. It would be interesting to see how the staff @ The Barley House is dressed. Has GoZips.com designated an official watch location? Manny's sounds good, but the thought of abandoning the heart of our downtown (Barley House, Brubaker's) to Columbus sellouts makes me wanna vomit.
  16. Ugh. Quite a few of the players I was expeciting to make immediate impacts this year (this game, ideally) didn't get starting nods - (Chisholm, Griggs, A.J. Price, Suel, Tyler Williams). Hmm. Oh, well. We'll see. Go Zips! [edit]: Quite a few from last year's recruiting class on the 2-deep.
  17. Amen. TP never took UA athletics seriously and told ABJ readers that neither should they. This happened for years on end. UA is still fighting this negative perception in the community.
  18. They might be more difficult to read, but they look SWEEEEEEEET!!!
  19. Right here is one (THE?) reason that when I read the threads about moving the the Big East, I generally have the "careful what you wish for," thought. I'd rather stay in the MAC and dominate this conference every year. We'd have consistent, perhaps annual, Top 25 rankings, even if no real chance at winning the national championship. But that's fine w/ me. My grand vision for Akron football is lower-eschelon Top 25. And we'd be packing the Info & everyone would know who/where Akron is (even though I guess LBJ's already accomplished this one). Become the Boise State of the MAC. Boise State translated their success into moving to a better conference. Akron needs to get to C-USA if your "grand vision" is to happen. I don't have anything against C-USA, except for greater travel time/expense. But we don't need C-USA for lower-tier Top 25 rankings. We just need to win out in the MAC.
  20. DC Kevin Cosgrove
  21. Very well written and informative. I hope they keep these coming all season.

  23. Actually, the vast majority of BCS schools don't really "compete" w/ the couple handfuls of annual National Championship contenders, you know, the same schools that always start the season ranked in the Top 15 in the preseason polls. It's not just non-BCS schools that have an uphill battle, it's 90% of all D-1 schools in general, most BCS schools included.
  24. Here's an amazing stat from GoZips.com, "The Zips have lost just once during the regular run of play in their last 51 matches." So that means that, besides losing to Virginia on penalty kicks during the National Championship game two years ago, the only regulation loss was to CSU over the last 51 games? Wow, that is just incredible! Linky
  25. 4-0 @ the half! Keep pumpin' 'em, Zips! It's a Cleveland beatdown! The announcer is doing a very nice job. The camera work is just okay. I thoroughly enjoy the wide-angle view from the pressbox. However, the field-level zoom view is infuriating. The angle gives no view of what's happening on the field and actually caused us to miss Mattocks' first goal. Just leave it on wide-angle, fellas!
