  1. I got a chuckle out of how his coach spoke about Davis' academic laziness: "He was in an empowering situation. Then he took himself out of position."
  2. I don't think so. How about the goal keeper in any sport with a goal keeper? How about the center in football? If nobody snaps the ball, the quarterback is unneeded. And the list goes on and on and on. Smart ass.
  3. I agree. I was watching the Clippers-Bulls game last night & I was impressed at how Blake Griffin was always setting screens for his guards. It just reinforced the fact that I don't ever see any of our players set a simple pick for anyone else. Isn't that just basketball 101? Instead, we run an offense (which, to my limited basketball knowledge doesn't even appear to be an offensive set) where we simply pass-pass-pass-pass-pass the ball around the perimiter and finally launch up a 3. Not gripping. KD and his staff know what they're doing. But everytime we play a slightly athletic team our offense doesn't work because we have to rush our 3's more than normal, and usually end up hitting for a low percentage. We live by the 3, and die by the 3.
  4. Egner can hit 3's? I didn't know that was part of the game was in his arsenal.
  5. His potential game-tying 3 rattled in-and-out (from what I heard). His legs were probably jelly when he tried to shoot the ball.
  6. I'm excited to see how Clayton changes our offense. QB - the most important position in all of sports? Patrick Nicely sure passes the eyeball test, but the on-the-field-test? Not so much. He just isn't a very accurate passer. If Clayton Moore is as accurate as one analyst I have read says he is - Rivals, Scout, ESPN, I forget - then he has the potential to make our offense click. A good QB will make our receivers look much better than they looked last year and a solid passing attack will, naturally, open up the run game.
  7. An excellent satirical piece from a recent The Daily Show with Jon Stewart prominently featuring Akron! Specifically, the Akron Aeros, featuring the outrageous Canal Park food offerings set to debut this spring. The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart
  8. I wasn't able to see the video. Any chance to see it somewhere online?
  9. This is the second year in a row Toledo has pulled in an excellent class. Rivals.com MAC recruiting class rankings And having Can't 3rd doesn't make any sense. They only signed one 3-star player. I think quantity over quality plays into the Rivals rankings. Edit: No, I take that back. Not only did we sign more recruits than Can't (23-18) but we signed more 3-star recruits as well (4-1) and have a higher average star-rating than they do (2.17-2.06). It makes no sense. Rivals sucks.
  10. My feed is completely dead and it's gone back to "Please Stand By" again. I shut it down. I sure hope they offer this for viewing at a later date.
  11. Same here. How punctual. Okay. Hopefully they're just running a bit late. I was afraid I was having a glitch & missing it altogether. Same thing here. "Please Stand By" Terrible. Just terrible quality. Was just about to post the same. I can't really hear anything at all. It fades in & out & for some reason repeats the same 3 second clips 2 or 3 times. So I really hope they're recording this and will have it available for viewing at a later time. I'm really not getting anything understandable from this feed.

  13. It's 4:35 and my link still says "Please stand by." Am I the only one?!
  14. Unless you count Grice and Rossi as running backs. You may also consider Tyrell Goodman an "Athlete" who may or may not play QB.
  15. Awesome. Akron now has 3 of the Top 10 recruits (according to TopDrawer) coming their way! They have a livechat up for National Signing Day> http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/livechat This was just posted in the above link: [Comment From Zip1508 Zip1508: ] Verbal commit to Akron has failed to fax through NLI. Insiders believe he's had his head turned by a west coast school Anyone know what/who that's all about?
  16. Where'd you find that? It's not on the gozips.com Signing Day blog.
  17. Why not just call the team what they're already named (I'm confused about that one anyhow) the Akron Metro Football Club? Sounds very european. I've noticed that in America we name our teams something like the Bears, or Eagles, or Tigers, etc. Where as in Europe they seem to simply call their teams _______ Football Club, or _______ Rugby Club, right?
  18. Is this a joke? I think you forgot to insert the " " emoticon. Honestly, the Warren RB would have been someone we were stringing along in case one of our verbals backed out at the last second. We already had landed Cody Grice & Karl Bostick, both rated higher than the Warren kid. Not to mention 4-star Nick Rossi. We had two surprises today - DE & former Iowa commit John Griggs (6-5, 260) and WR & former Penn State commit A.J. Price (6-4, 190). No offense to the Warren kid, but IF we were really going after him, it would only have been if one of these two would have reneged @ the last minute. The Warren kid will do better @ YSU's level anyway. I remember UA offering Mogadore's Chuck Moore an opportunity to walk on. He was fantastic in high school, but would have probably been simply a special team player at UA. He opted for Mount Union & was a 2-time All-American. Good decision for him, IMHO.
  19. indeed. Very disappointing.
  20. +1. I loved seeing Q get out on the fast break last night. How long has it been since we've had a guard/wing that is always looking to get out and run before the defense has a chance to set up?
  21. Very good news, indeed! It's great to get another Big 33 player. I'm starting to get excited about this recruiting class. I haven't been excited about Zips football in what feels like an eternity.
  22. Wait a minute... magic isn't real?
  23. Coming from someone as close to the Zips' program as yourself, this is music to my ears!
  24. Sadly accurate statement. Our baseball facility is not a college facility. It is not an NAIA D-II nor an NCAA D-III facility, let alone at all acceptable for the NCAA D-I level. I don't know how we recruit anyone for baseball.
