  1. Any insights into Harney's game? Or was he one of the players still in pre-season la-la land?
  2. Any updates on the practice?? +1
  3. Daryan Martin 6-3, 215 OLB The Zipmeister should approve of his size.
  4. Here is a nice article from today's ABJ concerning the Zips' forthcoming trip to Canada. Thanks, Tom! Go Zips! P.s. and here is an ABJ link to the Zips' Canadian schedule.
  5. Generally, ZN.O views of BCS conferences are a little skewed. We generally have this misconception that all BCS schools are akin to the elite, perennial Top 10-15 programs that the various networks love to televise. That just isn't the case. While, from nearly top-to-bottom, SEC football sends shivers down my spine, if the Zippers were just a little bit better (than our currently embarrassingly laughable state) we could hang right with half of the Big Ten, half the Big 12, 1/2 of the PAC-12, most of the ACC & the entire Big East (save recently added TCU). We often have this idea that every BCS-conference school is filling a 100,000-seat stadium like PSU, Texas or Tennessee. The vast majority of them do not & mid-majors generally give them a run for their money on the playing field. Every year the same majority of BCS schools get drilled by the same perennial Top 10's as do the mid-majors.
  6. "Tunnel of Pride." How embarrassing. Their faces should be as red as their jerseys.
  7. Sounds good. I'm finally starting to get excited! Go Zips!
  8. He was one of my favorite players. An under-sized, over-achieving ballhawk.
  9. Maybe a JUCO 5? K.e.nt landed 6'11" Justin Manns and while he's a far cry from a Zeke, I think I'd be extremely happy w/ a player like Manns backing up Big Z.
  10. Lord have mercy, the Zips would destroy them.
  11. The ABJ article states that 5 of the 15 players on the current K3nt roster have had "brush ins with the law" during the past year! One-out-of-3?! They should be very proud.
  12. ESPN has him listed as a SF and ranked as the #102 SF in the country.
  13. That's great to hear that he's still humble and appreciative. Didn't he actually get cut by two teams before catching on with the Steelers and becoming one of the best linebackers on planet earth?
  14. Excellent question and observation. From what I have learned we can expect the double power forward line up most of the time Zeke isout of the line up. So, the good question .. who supports Tree and the Serb? Green if he lives upto expectations; Egner is a likely candidate and Harney has the tools.Could you let us in on what the expectations are for Green, exactly? Just by eyeballing him, he sure looks like the odd man out in our new-and-improved athletic lineup. I've never seen him play; I've never seen him practice. But you have. Enlighten us. Frankly, I thought he was a good bet transfer candidate during the off-season.
  15. It's part of what makes him an excellent football player. But also why he'll probably find it next to impossible to function in the real world after his playing days are over.Even though he played @ Can't, I still tell people he's from Akron Coventry.
  16. He obviously just means you never want to be satisfied/complacent. Which, after this past season, should not be an issue.
  17. I respectfully disagree. Those NBA arenas are, IMO, just awful for basketball. They're fine for hockey & arena football. Having said that, I'd rather have a new combo-arena than no new arena at all. Another point to consider, is that a combo-arena is able to hold other events such as ice capades (whatever, at least it'd get folks downtown) monster truck rallies, motorcross, etc.But I do agree with KD, that a basketball-specific arena is FAR more desireable than a generic arena. (You can still hold concerts in a basketball-specific arena.)
  18. I voted for Jawon Chisholm simply because I had to miss the Spring Game and I'm anxious to see what you are all raving about. Another player who could have been included in the poll is former Iowa-commit/JUCO transfer DE John Griggs (6-5, 260).
  19. Good one! That's another one I'll never forget. Clips of that game are shown during the closing credits of the movie We Are Marshall.
  20. Willie Spencer throwing a TD pass against Virginia Tech, in the final seconds of the game, to bring the Zips to within maybe 8 points, I don't really remember. All I remember is that we still had no chance of winning the game, but the Bowl just absolutely exploded as everyone was ecstatic that we hung so close. VT was a Top 25 team and most everyone thought we'd get blown out. We hung right with them, Jason Taylor FAR outplayed VT's All-American defensive end (don't remember his name either).
  21. GREAT pic! That's my era! And we need to get back to games being broadcast on WZIP. I'm almost entirely out of touch with this now, but 15 years ago that was one of, if not the most popular stations for high school kids. Great marketing for the university.
  22. That's what I was wondering. While almost anything to draw folks downtown is a good thing, I was wondering whether this is/was anything to be too upset about not landing.
