  1. Considering our lack of depth at RB, I keep thinking that Rossi has a legitimate chance of coming in & starting @ RB as a true frosh. A hard-nosed, 6-0, 230 RB might look real nice lined up in the backfield.

  3. Good news. The Akron area is a true high school softball hotbed. We should be a national power in that sport.
  4. ABJ article by Michael Beaven w/ updates on Teal Bunbury, Darlington Nagbe & others.
  5. $1.2 million annually?!?! Good grief, where does VCU get that kind of money? Say, hypothetically, KD gets the Zips to the Final Four two years in a row, ala Brad Stevens. Is there any possible way UA could offer that kind of money?
  6. I'd say Zeke's clip ran a good two seconds - which is actually a pretty long time for that montage.
  7. He got an 8-year extension. I'm not sure how much it is for. But this is good for mid-major basketball. Brad Stevens also seems very happy/content @ Butler. Mark Few @ Gonzaga. Good stuff. I guess these guys are the types of guys who realize $$$ isn't everything?
  8. Look at the muscle Copley's Delone Carter (Syracuse) has packed on! This picture is from the ABJ.
  9. Who was that offer from?
  10. I don't, actually. To what area(s) are you referring? Baseball?
  11. Great gallery here
  12. I'm intrigued w/ Larry. He's listed @ 6'7", but his dad was 6'10". He may grow another couple inches yet. Tomorrow night is the Summit -vs- Stark Boys All-Star Basketball Game. It's @ 7:00 @ Walsh University. If anyone is able, go check Larry out & report back! I enjoy that game every year but I'm unable to make it tomorrow. It's usually not much of a game as Summit usually blows Stark out, but it's still usually a lot of fun just watching the best players in the area. I'm sure you'll also get to see BGSU recruit JaVon what's-his-name (Clarke?) from Timken. Oh, I'm also pretty sure you'll get to see Firestone's Darius Carter.
  13. No, no, no, Cap'n, you have it all wrong ... !!!! Tressel's a LYINGweasel. Both of you are wrong. He is a lying, cheating, phony weasel. Yeah? Well now he's rumored to be a lying, cheating, phony, UNEMPLOYED weasel. Link? I can't link to a radio show, unfortunately. ESPN 97.5 in Philadelphia reported it. Wow! Thanks anyhow!

  15. Did anyone catch ZipsLive last night? If so, what did Tom Lemming (sp?) have to say? Thanks in advance!
  16. Absolutely. Andy was great. It's really a shame he was hampered physically. Dan Hipsher's players ended up hating him. Again, another shame. It was painful for me to witness. And to think of the potential those Jimmal Ball, Jamie Bosley, Ryan Andrick, George Phillips teams had. All under-achieved - almost to the point of quiting. They seemed so anxious to just get away from Hipsher. KD really seemed like a desperation hire for D-Hip. He needed a spark. KD gave the program a spark by signing Dru & Rome & Jeremiah Wood, but it was too little too late. KD wasn't gunning for D-Hip's job. He was simply happy to be back in the college ranks. Though, when the inevitable finally happened and D-Hip was let go, we all knew the perfect heir apparent was already on staff. Gotta love KD. First-class act.
  17. My favorite post on this subject was posted in one of the other recent threads regarding this topic. I forget who posted it, but it went something like, "Maybe... just maybe... we shouldn't care about this at all?"
  18. It's crazy to think, but a single tweet from 'Bron is probably worth more pub than our regionally televised Super Bowl commercials. Whatever it takes to keep Akron blipping on the nation's radar.
  19. They don't use that facility for basketball. They play their basketball games at Carver Arena which seats around 11,500. Ahh, well that capacity is what I was expecting. Well, what did they build that new $50-million facility for?
  20. Video Tour of Bradley's new arena. Gorgeous, $50-million facility. Only seats 4,200. I was a bit surprised by that. As far as a renovation goes, maybe that gives the JAR's capacity some perspective?
  21. ABJ article As Zip Watcher said, Bradley's a fine gig. But I still think this is embarrassing for the MAC.
  22. Duh. Who would have ever guessed that's the way to win basketball games and championships? Well, yes. Very true. But I think GP1's central point was that in the MAC, you just have to be steady-as-she-goes and wait for the other team to beat themselves.
  23. +1. Wouldn't it have been great to see a Butler -vs- VCU final?!?! Oh, well. I guess I can look at it in this way at least one mid-major is assured of playing for the championship.
  24. I saw the post game interview this morning. Coach Stevens is just being nice. He was by far the better coach yesterday. Saying Donovan out coached comes out a lot better than saying, "I bitch slapped Donovan." Right. I think the 'Meister knows that. The only way Brad Stevens makes those comments is if he's an incredibly self-confident guy. He was giving a lot of praise to his team & assistants. He was also being nice to Donovan. Stevens' is truly a class act. The fist interview on the espn sight w/ Phelps, Bilas, Davis & Reese really breaks down just how badly Florida (Donovan) was out-coached by Butler (Stevens) throughout the game - especially after a couple of timeouts & in overtime. I also like how both Stevens & the espn analysts notice the improvement Butler has made as a team throughout the course of this season. We witnessed a transformation of our Zips' team this year. I think we're going to have to be equally as patient next season as well, with all the new blood coming in.
