Thanks Flyer! I'd love to play you guys every year! It's a competitive contest and potentially a great rivalry in the making! Lots of fun.

With all due respect I can't understand the reasoning of playing an extremely tough SOS if you lose all the games. When you play six really tough teams and lose four or five, then combine that with the loses in the conference, what makes anyone think they will get an invite to the big dance?Sadly, I think we're all beginning to realize that the NCAA selection committee will look for any excuse to exclude non-BCS schools. Either you played a strong schedule but didn't win enough games, or you won plenty of games but your schedule was weak. The only way to get noticed in their eyes is to play a bunch of BCS schools on the road AND beat them all. Ha! That's tough to do. To top it all off, the SOS is automatically biased toward BCS schools to begin with because the old-boys network ranks them all high at the beginning of the season.

I like KD's philosophy (I'm glad he refuses to bend over for the BCS schools) only kicked up a notch. I think we should schedule as many A-10 schools as possible (Temple, Xavier, Dayton, Rhode Island). Throw in some Mizz-Valley schools: Missouri St., Witchita St., Creighton, Southern Ill. Toss in Butler (Horizon) and a dream matchup w/ Gonzaga. I think there are plenty of high mid-majors. I now consider us a high mid-major school. I think any combination of those schools would make an exciting and competitive OC schedule!Why don't these schools get together and help each other out with scheduling? If we'd all cooperate w/ each other it'd make life a lot easier, create some great, competitive rivalries and collectively say "go screw off," to the BCS & NCAA selection committee.

There was your token LeBron reference. I'm not upset! IMHO we need to milk that god-send of an association as much and as often as possible!

I'm thrilled with how comfortable both McNeese & Darryl Roberts look out there. They're gonna be legit players!

Both teams are playing fast paced ball. Both teams are playing excellent defense; really pressuring the guards up top. Nice seeing CM stroking his shots. We've gotta get Wood going. I don't believe I've ever seen a Zips team as deep as the team KD's assembled. UD announcers are hilarious! I think Joe Dunn & the immortal Steve French are priceless homeboys, but these two match our boyz step-for-step! The radio audio is not in sync with the internet feed, so I opted for the internet audio.

Thanks for including that previous post. It is greatly appreciated...that's where I first leaned of the verbal. FYI - The info for my post was obtained from interviews with people who've seen him play, not from any web sites. If the ZipsNation hoops fans like that type of info, I will continue posting similar stories. It's fun.CK - keep bringing us interviews! The Beacon gives us absolutely no human interest stories about Zips players!

I didn't hear the interview. Can you tell me, did it sound as if Mack had a new arena in mind, or simple renovations to the JAR? PLEASE TELL ME IT DIDN'T SOUND AS IF THE ADMINISTRATION IS MERELY PLANNING A JAR RENOVATION!

In the future we should try to take over downtown establishments. We've gotta get our downtown behind us. I say in the future we take over the Barley House and, once it opens, Damon's (which I believe is going to be located right next door.)

George Thomas is a fat bastard. His remark about the Big 10 being "big-boy football," was truly uncalled for and waaaaay over the line. And this being printed in our very own Akron BJ. Disgraceful. Fat Albert doesn't know anything about football anyway; he is much more familiar with jelly rolls.

For any band members who are part of the 'Nation, I just wanted to say that you guys were AWESOME today!!! You guys gave me goosebumps 3 times during the pregame show!!! I took my brother to his first Zips game today and he had a great time, wants to go back for the Temple game, and after the pregame show said, "Man, that was awesome!" What an excellent way to get the afternoon off on the right foot! That set the mood for the rest of the afternoon! I especially liked the way you guys came onto the field - drum cadence and marching formation - both very cool! You guys made me proud to be a Zip! EXCELLENT SHOW!

If YSU came to Akron in 2009, that would give us 7 home games for the inaugural season. How can anyone complain about that? That would include the following guaranteed sell-outs:K.e.n.tYSUIndianaObviously the other games would draw very well too.A seven game home schedule with three guaranteed sell-outs would be a great way to open 2009! This was probably just an oversight, but you don't think the Kentucky game will sell out?! I do. So that'll be 3 sellouts anyhow: 1) Kentucky, 2) IU and 3) Can't.

Allen is truly a stud. I'm a little biased towards Williams due to the fact that I saw him play in high school. But is there any other team in the MAC that could choose between 2 backs the caliber of Williams and Allen? Those are two Big10 caliber backs, and DK originally signed with OSU out of high school - but in my opinion, he is clearly the 3rd most talented back on the team.

I though it was great... and desperately needed! Thanks for putting this together! I, as apparently most others on the board, was unable to call in. I'll have to miss the post-OSU game broadcast, but I'll be tuning in after our win at Indiana!

I've noticed that as well. Though I don't think he looks unhealthy; I was thinking he was looking pretty buffed up.

I'm gonna throw out a dissenting opinion on DK. I just don't like him running the ball. I don't believe I've ever seen him break a single tackle. I think I could bring him down out there!On the other hand, I love the way both Alex Allen and Bryan Williams run the ball - hard and FAST! I think our top 2 backs should be 1) Williams and 2) Allen.

G-mann, I feel your pain. We've all payed our dues and have the right to complain. Let's just start checking Ohio.com for Zips articles that we can respond to and then let's respond to them! UAkronkid said it well when he said we should also be positive toward the Beacon. I've written and emailed too! In fact, I think a number of years ago one of my letters was published in the sports section - didn't the sports section used to have an editorial area once or twice a week?I was just over there and there are 8 responses now! That's respectible! (Of course, 2 are from me!)On a side note: the difference between DLM and Rasor is that covering the Zips is a job for Morgan; it's a passion for Rasor. If you can get a job doing what you're passionate about, you never have to "work" a day in your life! Thus, Rasor's pieces on the Zips come naturally; Morgan has to sweat over them. Sadly, this is far from ideal when your beat writer doesn't have a passion for the team he's assigned to. Morgan said it himself over the past 2 days, he's a Browns fan and a YSU fan. Rasor is a Zips fan. Could we do a little switcheroo? Man, how I wish the Akron Beacon Journal were passionate for Akron! How sad is it that we have to wish for something like that?!

Thanks Timmyboy,It sounds like we should be keeping an eye on the RB from Firestone as well. I forget his name, but Flossie said he believed he was just as talented as Antonio Pittman was. He is 5'11", 190 and ran for well over 100 yards last week.

Skip-Zip,Zipsgrad was being sarcastic. He was making fun of Quinn just tossing little 5-yard dump-off passes instead of going long down the field.

I, as well as most others in the Nation, like to vent about the pathetic Zips coverage given us by our very own Akron Beacon Journal. Quite frankly, I find the almost complete lack of quality coverage highly insulting. But the question is often posed as to what we, as Zips fans can do to encourage increased Zips coverage by our local paper. Well, here's a little something we can do (the least we can do?) Today Patrick McManamon wrote one of his first pieces as the BJ's new lead sports columnist and his topic was... the UA Zips!!! I scrolled down the page (I had read the article in the paper already this morning) and left a comment to his story. I figure we complain about the lack of coverage enough that I'd show Patrick that people do in fact care enough about Zips coverage to leave a comment on his piece. Unfortunately, as of 2:15 this afternoon, I was the only person to have left a reply. Think about that, the only person in the entire greater Akron area to leave a freaking comment about a Zips front page story!!! What are the BJ editors and writers to think? I write a piece on the Zips and get ONE reply; I write a piece on the Browns and get 60 replies; I write a piece on the Buckeyes and get 80 replies. Perhaps it doesn't take a rocket scientist afterall to figure out this mystifying lack of coverage?So let's make a rule: no one is allowed to EVER AGAIN gripe about the BJ's lack of coverage UNLESS you go to Ohio.com and leave replies and comments regarding the various Zips stories that they do publish. So take 3 minutes, and go over to Ohio.com and read McManamon's insightful article AND LEAVE A RESPONSE!!! Don't just bitch about a lack of coverage, but do a little something about it! Get over there and show our new lead sports columnist that there is a substantial audience to be had in the greater Akron area that is indeed interested in any Zips knowledge they can drop!
