There's no war starting. I'm in complete agreement with this thread. There's nothing like screaming and yelling your head off and watching your team make a 8-0 run and having the opposition call timeout. Then you look to the mid court lower level seats and see 9 or 10 people standing up yelling and everyone else breaking out the golf-clap (if they're even aware there's a game going on). Or being in an important conference game with a close score and with less than two minutes left and being able to hear a needle drop inside the arena (minus student chants). IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO JUST SHOW UP!!!!! I'm glad there are folks out there that want to support the U by buying their expensive season tickets, but for gosh darn sakes, support the team in other ways than positive thoughts. I'm glad you all are out there, but if you dont want to give us some home court advantage (Like Can't has at the MACC or OU at the Convo), please give your tickets to someone else or just dont buy em and retire to the upper reserves.P.S. I think this will change as the Zips improve athletically and the current generations graduate. I know for one, i'll be buying a lower level season ticket, and I'm gonna be making one hell of a racket as usual (and I wont care about dirty looks).GO ZIPS!

My two cents...I avoided these boards last night after crumbling in front of my tv after racing home from work to see the end of this game. The Zips curled up into the fetal position for the last 10 minutes. Sure, there could've been better coaching decisions, sure "so-and-so" could've played better defense or better offense, sure toledo "wanted it more." Yeah, I'm as big of Zips fan as anyone out there, and I'm as crushed as all of you. Bottom line: Where would we be right now sans Dambrot? My guess? Middle-of-the road, first round home game hosting 6 or 7 seed. The Zips won 22 games, could win MORE. Say what you want, but Rome wasnt built in a day. These teams will progress, and we will win more championships. But hell, some of you folks act like we're the Atlanta Braves of the MAC and are EXPECTED to win everything. Maybe someday, but not now. When it comes to the NIT, sure it's a 2nd class tourney compared to the NCAAs, but every experience the leaders and even the freshman on this team get helps us for the future. It's a chance to play one or more 2nd tier major conference teams. In the postgame radio show after the quarters Linhart admitted to being nervous and overwhelmed by playing in an NBA arena under that kind of pressure. Would you want to be hearing this next year (when we will have an even stronger team) after a loss in the first round of the NCAAs? No, you want the kids on this team and anyone else that will be back next year to have the experience of playing a post season game, one way or another. Lastly. QUIT GIVING UP! It's hard to imagine the NCAAs NIT selection committee ignoring a 22 win season by the Zips, especially after what happened last year when we were one of the last teams left unselected. The Motor City bowl and the support the Zips Nation has shown will have an effect on this committee, regardless. The bottom line in this thing is money. NIT wants to sell more tickets. Now the world knows that we are hungry for post season and a reason to support these teams.Here's hopin for one more rockin game at the JAR, even if it is that crappy ol' NIT.GO ZIPS!!

This is really tough. A sad day...well a sad day for UA, but we sure are happy for UAM...Now my tibute...A few years back, I was a sophomore here at UA, I had just taken on a full time job and decided to continue school part time. Over the basketball season in 00-01 I started to get into Zips athletics. Then I learned of a weekly radio show at the Spaghetti Warehouse. I figured I'd check it out, go sit with a some other Zips fans, get some good food and check out the show on 1350. Little did I know it would become a ritual. Over the next two years I hit the Spaghetti Warehouse (usually with the now ex-girl in tow) every thursday. Sometimes we'd get free appetizers. about 80% of the time we were the only fans there. 99% of the time we were the only students, except for the time students were on the show. It was nice to meet some of the guys from the teams, like charlie and derrick tarver, but the reason I kept going back was Mike. After a couple weeks he noticed our enthusiasm, came and introduced himself and thanked us for coming. He asked if we could get some more folks to come, and from time to time we did. Back then most of my friends arent the zips nuts they are now that we are successful. He even paid for dinner once for the girl and me! This is how much he yearned for the support of the community and students, how much he wanted the best for this school...anyways, Mike, if you read this, we'll miss you and best of luck.Sincerely...Judge Judy.(that's a little inside joke...related to an incident at the OU football game a ways back)

OZoner, you thought you had a chance in the JAR where the Zips are undefeated and 26-1 over the last two years and you're throwing in the towel at the MAC center where those flushies lost to the likes of BG and Delaware State?!?!?!? Come on! It could be tough, considering the 6,000 fans they'll have there (err...maybe 3,000), but you kids can do it! GO ZIPS...and...um... GO BOBCATS! Hurts, but there, I said it.

I bet they show up, sit mixed in the general admission seats on the bleachers and say "you suck" a lot. From the game at the mac center, it appears this is all flush fans can come up with. For example...Ak rowdies chant "Rome-e-o-ohhhh-ohhh" flushes fans respond with "Rome-e-o-ohhh-ohhh, you suck!" I think we'd be stretching it for them to come up with something better.GO ZIPS!
